The Best Citizens Bear Witness A SCOECHBH. Tioga. Pa., May 16.1888. Gentlemen:—My business house burned on the l2tb inst, «nd my Victor Safe was put to a remarkably severe test. The Safe fell through the floors into the cellar and upon ten tons of coal and in the midst of a quantity of barrelled pork and oil. ft roasted for eight hours in this red hot bed. No one thought it could possibiy preserve its contents, yet it brought them through in good condition. I can now
heartily endorse the Victor Safes.

' Mansfield. Pa., May 16, 18S8. Gentlemen:— We have secured the Victor Safe which was put to such a severe test in the burning of Mr. E. E. Phelps' store at Tioga, May 12th, and shall place it on exhibition here. It has clinched your reputation all through this territory. I enclose order for Safe for D. Carlton, postmaster at Ham¬ mond Pa. He saw the Phelps Safe. The Victor Safes are beyond any doubt absolutely fire-proof. BROWN & ALLEN, Agents.
MORE GOOD EVIDENCE. Jensen. Ark., Dec. 10, 1888. GentlemenOn June 9th, last, the No. 3 Victor Safe you me was pilt to the test. My house burned, and the Safe was fully exposed to the hottest par of the fire. My suiprise was great to find that my books, papers, etc., in the Safe were not even soiled. I can fully recommend your Safes. You may ship me a No. 4 Safe at once. J. M. DUNCAN. sold

Cincinnati, O. Gentlemen:—I was burned out on the 19th inst.. and 1 beg to report to you that my No. 4 Safe stood a very severe fire test, and brought all my books, papers, etc., through all right. I am a confirmed believer in the Victor, and want another No. 4 Safe at once. J. B. WATSON.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Alexander, cheerfully attest the truthfulness of the above statement. O. M. LANGFORD, Mayor. J. D. DOBBINS, Postmaster. W. M. SANDERSON, City Marshal. E. PELOUBET, Notary Public. PELOUBET A SON. T. J. ROFFE, Druggist.
(Also burned out.) East Pepu, Iowa, August 13, 1889. Gentlemen:—On the I3th of June our business house was burned to the ground. The Victor Safe we bought of you was in the fire. The fire was a very hot one and composed of highly combustible materials. The Safe was taken out at six o’clock in the morning and left until five in the evening to cool and was then opened. We found we still had to han¬ dle it with tongs, yet we found the cotnents “O. K.” The Victor is certainly a success. We must have another Victor. Yours

Portland, Oregon, August 30,1889. Gentlemen:—In reference to the Safe of Dr. Gundlaeh, at Spokane Falls, we beg leave to state that we have looked the matter up and find the facts are substantially as stated in his testimonial. Our Spokane Falls manaser examined the Safe and it did go through the fire in good shape. Very truly yours, STAVER & WALKER The above is the largest Implement concern in the North What more need we add? We have a long list of just such testimonials, where the Victor Safes have been tried under all circumstances, side by side with nearly all the other makes. West.
Fort Worth. Tex., Jan. 16.1890. Gentlemen:—I beg to inform you that I have just been burned out losing everything excepting what I had in the No. 3 Victor Safe you sold me. The fire was a very heavy and-exceedingly hot one. 1 was therefore greatly surprised when I opened my safe the next morning, to find all of my books and valuable papers in the best condition. I can recommend your safes. They are what they are sold for—

Some time early this morning the Post Office was broken into by burglars. Entrance was gained through the front doors which were forced open with a jimmie.
18 7*
They then drilled several holes in the safe door, and
filled the vacuum between the inner and outer door with powder, igniting the same with a fuse. An ex¬
plosion took place but the door lefused to yield and the “crooks” either grew weary of their task or were frightened away. Mail bags and other equipments of the office were piled around the safe evidently to deaden the sound when the door should dy off, but the safe withstood all their efforts to open it. When Assistant Postmaster Wright arrived at the office at 6 A. M. this morning, as is his custom, he found as on a former occasion, viz: that he didn’t re¬ quire his office door key; he hastened into the mailing room where one glance told linn the story. He then hastily summoned the Postmaster, Mr. H.B. Rollinson, who had the door of the safe, cut open by a blacksmith. The burglars escaped by the rear door as foot prints were found on the snow leading to the alley that opens on Cherry street This is the fourth time the Rahwayoffice has been robbed. This last safe was made by the Victor Safe and Lock Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Postmaster thinks it was a “Victory” for the •‘Victor”' for which they are noted.
