Introduction THE Reading Knob Works is now in a position to supply the A long recognized and steadily growing demand for Builders’ Hardware, of a more individual character than heretofore has been offered by any stock manufacturer. . . . The Earle Hardware Manu facturing Company, of Los Angeles, being operated now as a division of the Reading Knob Works, will continue to specialize on Period Hardware, that is expressive of the true craft spirit, and also will maintain its service in the creation of original designs. In addition, through the national distributing organization of the Reading Knob Works, authentic hardware in standardized period types, yet embody ing the same careful craftsmanship, will now be offered to a much broader field than it has been possible to serve in the past. Earle Period Hardware was originated in California fifteen years ago to supply appropriate hardware for homes of early California architecture. As the beauty of these homes grew upon the nation, so did the contribution that Earle Hardware had made to these homes. As a result, Earle Hardware, in every preferred period, is now known and admired by a majority of the important architects and home designers in America, bringing to modern building a personality the world has not known since the forges of the medieval armorers were allowed to cool. Many items in this line are illustrated and described on the follow ing pages of this catalog.
