Standard Finishes

O

NLY such finishes are here listed as are suitable for locks and hardware shown in the following pages.

The column numbers given refer to the four price columns showing prices in various finishes. On pages 8, 9 and 10, also will be found the finishes arranged by Columns. Infor mation in regard to Silver and Gold (Cols. 4 and 6) and other special finishes may be had on application. Each finish symbol iacludes three variables, viz.; 1. 2. 3.

T h e M e ta l o r P la te . T h e T e x tu re o f th e Surface. T h e C o lor im p a rte d to it.

Hence the Yale system of symbols for finishes includes three vari ables, viz.: two letters and a num ber, in which the First Letter indicates the metal or -plate; the Second Letter indicates texture of the surface, and the Number indicates the color. T h u s in th e sym bol BZIO, th e first le tte r B in d icates b ro n ze m etaJ o r b ro n ze p la te ; th e second le tte r Z t h a t th e su rface is bxjfled; a n d th e n u m era l 1 0 t h a t th e n a tu ra l color o f th e m etal o r p la te is retain ed .

The symbols are thus based on a simple plan. Their only complexity arises from the large num ber required to designate the m any finishes.
