INTRODUCTION

I recall as a young boy around the age of 10 when most children were reading the comics section of the newspaper I would open up the market quotes section and get a feeling inside. I can later only describe this feeling as one of “wanting to be in on the action.” I began to study markets in depth at the age of 25 having discovered that people need both time and money. One is useless without the other. At the age of 26 I had an investment partnership registered at the State level. The technique I was using at the time went back to an old Value Investor known as Benjamin Graham, of whom Warren Buffet was a student. Although the technique produced results and I was able to secure returns better than the market, undervalued companies were becoming extremely scarce. The Dow at the time seemed to have one direction; up. Around this time I got my first real break. I was directed to study the works of W.D. Gann. I was also informed that Gann used astrology. After purchasing and studying all of Gann’s books I was stumped as to which route to take. I began purchasing books from other authors on Gann and an underlying theme emerged; Astrology. It was at this time that a fork in the road emerged between Heliocentric and Geocentric astrology. In pursuing the Heliocentric side I went down the road now known as the Cowanites, officially founded by author Bran Cowan. At this same time I began studying personal Geocentric Astrology. After years of investigation I can tell you that Heliocentric Astrology does have its own validity. However I believe this is not where Gann began. It is my belief that in his beginning years (circa 1909) Gann was primarily using Geocentric Astrology. In studying works by different authors on Gann the norm seemed to be to touch on Astrology then present the authors “system”. Thus the student is left without a fundamental grasp of the

7

underlying tenants of Astrology. I would later find out the reason for this is directly attributed to one of two factors. 1) The author did not possess such an understanding. 2) The author did understand the underlying tenants. Authors that Fall into the #2 category can make predictions. Many such books are on the market, loaded with predictions. Why would an author under category #2 want to release his method of predictions? If he did then you would no longer read his books of predictions because you could arrive at the same conclusions on your own. This leaves the student struggling in the dark, having to find his way through the different techniques. Today there are millions of books on astrology. Some are good and others are not so good. The trick seems to be differentiating between the two. Once this is done the question can be asked; how much personal astrology is needed and how far do I have to go with it? The answer to that question comes from astrology authors around Gann’s time, who were “scientific men”, opposed to current authors that write more about character traits than science. Geocentric Astrology when connected with character traits appears then to be an art form riding on top of a science. It is the science that the student of financial markets is interested in. While the art form is valid and one can learn much from its principles, those aspects will not further the science. In the science we deal with mathematics. In looking back I was fortunate to have many good mentors, especially in a field where wild hypothesis seem to be the order of the day. One of these mentors made me promise to teach and we will be getting into that shortly. While I was studying Heliocentric Astrology I ran across an individual who changed my life. His name is Cliff Melby and he has a passion for understanding Geocentric Astrology. I began writing lessons for him and other individuals. I learned that the lessons made it possible for the student to more quickly understand concepts. Not long after the lessons were finished, I made a promise to a mentor, to whom I am deeply indebted, to teach. This meant I would have to write more lessons in order to “bridge” the 8

student into Gann. The bridge would be “the science.” Then the problem came of where to locate sincere students. Initially I began to “dump” information into Yahoo E-group sites such as Gann’s Ghost. This method, while producing sincere students, began to backfire as I was attacked by others with their own ulterior motives. I began to write posts that could be construed as misleading in an effort to “get around” the harassment I was enduring. In order to fend off the harassment a new E-group was created; Wheels In The Sky or WITS for short. After about three months I began to loose focus as the site swelled with new members. I was always careful in selecting new students. The students were pre-screened to meet certain criteria and were checked as to their actual identity. These were and are my private students which I continue to work with. As the time went on I closed the door to new students. My plan was to focus on trading and continue support to these students. I failed to take into account that individuals would continuously approach me for information on what to study. I would send them off with a list of books to study. At the same time the lessons in this book were sitting idle, doing no one any good. I decided to take a Hiatus and put the lessons into a book form in an attempt to sincerely help those that wish to pursue this field in a manner of discovery. It will take time and sincere effort but results will come to those diligent enough to TEST and apply this material. I give you my word that I have provided in this textbook as much information as I am permitted to put into the public domain. The books referenced MUST be purchased in order that a full understanding of the presented material is obtained. In writing the material there were several obstacles that needed to be overcome, the least of which is that I am not a writer. My writing style, although unique, takes you directly to the source and moves on. I do not like so called “book filler” and this book is meant to be fresh and different from the beginning. It will take you through the mechanics that others only touch on. At first it will appear to be insurmountable. Experience has shown that the best way to tackle it is to read the book once then go back and work 9

through each section in the order presented until that section is grasped. We will be beginning in personal astrology as I believe it will aide you in knowing your own cycles while building a platform for understanding of later materials. It is not necessary to become an astrologer. The goal here is simply to be able to make distinctions between cycles, planets, houses and aspects of different charts. From page 55 of Gann’s “Wall Street Stock Selector”, “I have repeatedly stated that stocks, like individuals have habits and that to determine the position of any stock you must study it individually and not collectively.” The function of this work is to explore this phrase in depth. This next excerpt from page 35 of Wall Street Stock Selector is one of my favorites. “Man’s seasonal trend changes just as the market and he has good and bad cycles. By keeping a record of your own trades, you can determine when your trend is changing one way or the other. I have been able to make as many as 200 consecutive trades without loss. When I started the campaign, I did not believe I could make 50 trades without a loss, but I did continue to make perfect trades and close every trade with a profit, until I had made the 200 trades. This run of luck or up trend that I was in had run for some time. If I had no way to forecast it, what sign should I watch to tell when the tide had turned against me and I should get out and wait? The first indication that something was wrong would be the first trade on which I made a loss. I remember that it was a small loss around $100. On the next trade I had a loss of over $500. This showed that my trend was changing and turning against me, whether due to bad judgment, ill health, tired nerves, or other causes. If I had been wise, I would have quit and kept all my profits. I made the third trade and as most traders do, went into the market on a larger scale. This trade soon showed a loss of $5,000. And I did not take the loss quickly. The result was that I continued to make a series of losses until the banks closed in November, 1907, and I could not get any more money out of the banks. I was forced to close out all of my commitments with my brokers and take a big loss, because I was bucking my own trend. My period of good luck had run out, and I was trading in a period which should have been for rest, recreation, and gaining knowledge instead of trying to make more money which I did not need. The banks were unable to pay currency for several months, and I could not get any money to speculate with. I put in my time studying and figuring on 10

the market and found out what caused my mistake and the losses. I started trading again in the Spring of 1908, and should have had some rule to tell me when my trend had turned in my favor.” Gann was born June 6, 1878 in Lufkin Texas. What Gann found when he identified the “mistake and losses” is known as a Saturn return and we will directly deal with this ahead. So there is an importance of understanding ones’ own cycles. Many intelligent and well degreed men have spent their entire lives studying market prices only to come up empty handed. The reason for their failure lies in the fact that they have failed to take into consideration the TIME component, which we will be dealing with here. Unlike most market books, this book is not loaded with charts; however, a source of Wheat data is provided so the student can test and work with the underlying tenants. Again this book is about TIME as price is simply related. The student must have a thorough understanding of the causes of a market turn before price can be understood. This work does not deal with the Square of 9 or hexagon charts so frequently referred to in other works because again the student MUST understand TIME before the use of these calculators become clear. Let’s move forward to find what factors are related to market turns. If you do not already have Astrology Software your can download a workable demo from www.Halloran.com

THE SIGNS

The great circle in the heavens is divided into 12 equal parts. These parts are the called “the signs”. Each sign is 30 degrees in longitude. The 12 signs have characteristics that are unique to each sign and we will be exploring this. To better get a feel for The Zodiac take out a clean sheet of paper. Place a large coffee can or other rounded bottomed can on the paper and trace out a circle, the larger the better. Trace the circle onto the paper using a pencil. Once this is done, start at the top of the circle and draw a line straight down using a ruler. Then go to the extreme left of the circle. This is the starting point of the zodiac. Place a small arrow outside the circle at this point. Then draw a line from left to right of the circle. At this point you should have a circle with a plus (cross) in it dividing the circle into fourths. Continue the process until there are “12 slices to the pie” by using the crosses. Now that we have “the pie” divided into 12 “slices” we want to label the slices. Starting at the arrow which is at the far left and moving in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction we start with Aries. Labeling the first slice as Aries, the next is Taurus, then Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius then Pisces. ALWAYS in this order. Once the slices are named you probably want to add in the symbols. Astrology deals with symbolism, with associations and these symbols have meanings.

12

At this point you want to be able to look at a symbol and know its name from memory. This may take a bit as there are usually 2 or 3 Symbols that individuals “mix up”. Now I will give you some words to write in with each symbol so you can begin to use word (symbol) association. In the slice named Aries, write in energy and force. Taurus: building, creating, strengthening. Gemini: duality, communication. Cancer: emotions, home, security. Leo: ego, self-expansive, honor, royalty. Virgo: discrimate (in terms of mental assimilation), exact, precise, refining. Libra: fairness, beauty (grace), sociableness. Scorpio: control, deep, death and rebirth. Sagittarius: philosophical, opinionated. Capricorn: strategy, structure, tightness. Aquarius: eccentric, sudden, brotherhood (meaning a concern for others). Pisces: cloudy,

13

dreamy, illusion, religion. Now these are by no means all that can be said about these signs but it does provide a “foundation” which we will be building on! What you want to be able to do is look only at a sign. Know its name and the keywords in its “slice”. Keep this piece of paper in a visible area by the computer so if you need to you can simply glance up at it. This will come in handy. In the charts we use the “Law of Opposites”. Look at the keywords for Virgo. Exact, precision and we get the feeling something needs to be dead accurate. The opposite of Virgo is Pisces which sits exactly opposite of the “pie”. Its keywords are opposite of Virgo as well: cloudy, dreamy etc. This works with all signs. Cancer (emotions) and Capricorn (strategy) are at the polar ends of the spectrum. One is highly emotional, while the other has an emotional “tightness” about it. What follows is advanced. You may want to read over it and put it aside until much later. I simply needed to put it in here for your reference when you are reading to expand possibly after future lessons are read. The Square and the Triangle form within the circle. The Triangle ties together 3 like signs. An example is the signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Simply count 4 signs over, like Gemini to Libra is 1(Cancer) 2(Leo) 3 (Virgo) 4 is (Libra)...this gives you another sign that is harmonious with the originating sign. These 3 signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) form a triangle in the circle. This triangle is known as the Air Trine. What does this mean? These signs are extremely sociable and talkative much more than other signs. They are alike in that they have certain characteristics like sociability which they share. There are other Triangles in the circle. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius comprise the Fire Trine which is very impulsive (spur of the moment). Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn compose the Earth signs, while Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces comprise the Water Trine. These will be expanded. For now we need to know that 4 triangles form within the circle. 3 squares are also found in the circle: cardinal, fixed and mutable. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces comprise the mutable signs. They share common characteristics such as they are all mental signs. The Cardinal Signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. The Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. To get the 14

next Mutable sign over from Gemini, we count 3 signs over... 1 (Cancer) 2 (Leo) and 3 is Virgo. So instead of counting 4 over like we did with the triangles above, we count 3 over. The Triangles are of a harmonious nature while the squares are inharmonious. An example of inharmony is the finicky exacting Virgo trying to pin down the duality of the Gemini. The signs clash. Cancer is in a triangle (harmonious) with Scorpio. Here the Cancer need for security finds relief in the take control ways of Scorpio. Scorpio leads the way, Cancer tags along willingly. There is support here. There is support in the triangles. Support leads to harmony. It is not necessary for you to understand the “inner workings” of the squares and trines at this point.

15

PLANETS AND PERSONAL POINTS

Progressing through these mini lessons you will be able to better understand your own needs along with those of others around you. I need to add information on Chiron and Transpluto. Many Astrologers to date do not consider these valid planets. They are and are very important, both in personal and financial astrology. Transpluto has not yet been “officially” discovered. My work with Transpluto needs to be accredited to Bonnie Lee Hill who pointed me in the right direction. On August 16, 2001 the Longitude of this planet is located at 25 Leo 52. The planet or asteroid discovered in the late 1970’s called Chiron was located at 22 Sag. 55 at the above date. Both planets have influence on markets and individuals alike. At this point we will be working on identifying the planets by their symbols. You want to be able to look at a symbol and instantly know it is Venus or Saturn etc. At first this may seem confusing, but after awhile, with a little practice it will become second nature to you. In addition to the planets, there are several "personal points" that are believed to be highly karmic by Astrologers. The Ascendant (ASC.) is found at the far left of the chart wheel. The Medium Coili (M.C.) is found at the top of the chart wheel. There are also the "Lunar Nodes". You will want to set your preferences for the chart if you are working with computer software to "True Nodes", "Tropical Zodiac" and "Placidus Houses". (Note; all planets have nodes). In these lessons we will only be addressing the Moon or Lunar nodes. An explanation of the lunar nodes will be provided later). In Astrology the Ascendant means "environment", The M.C. is "self". The North Node means "association" which is binding while the South Node has a "separating" influence. Note that the 2 are always opposite and form an "axis". (This axis will be dealt with later.) At this point the reader should be able to identify all planets and personal points thus far.

16

Now I will give you words that need to be associated with the planets. SUN: personality and ego, self expression. MOON: emotions, mother, nurturing. MERCURY: mind, communication, travel. VENUS: art, beauty, affection. MARS: energy, force. (Note the symbol for Mars is male and the symbol for Venus is Female.) JUPITER: expansion, reward. SATURN: separation, restriction, structure, father. CHIRON: maverick, healer. URANUS: intensification, sudden change, rebellion. NEPTUNE: fantasy, illusion, deception, drugs. PLUTO: drive, power, subconscious. TRANSPLUTO: definition, refinement, organization. NORTH NODE: association, groups, community. ASC: personal projection (how others see you), environment. M.C.: what one stands for, reputation. Feel free to take as much time as you need here to become familiar with these words. Certainly more words could be included; however, the goal here is to develop a certain "feeling" for each planet. At this point the reader needs to be able to identify a planet by its symbol. You should probably make note cards or some other reference so that you can quickly look up a planet’s key words. There is a very important point I need to make here. We are using Geocentric Astrology, which means the planets as they are viewed from the Earth. Using this system, the planets "appear" to progress forward. They then slow down and go in reverse, or backwards. When a planet "appears" to be going backwards, it is called retrograde. Retrograde motion is indicated in the chart wheel by an R next to the planet. The ancients knew that a retrograde planet had different characteristics than a direct planet. Thousands of year’s later scientists proved this by observing that a planet in retrograde motion showed a different color spectrum than when it was direct which means it has a diminished effect at while it is retrograding. The planet still represents the same keywords but its potency is reduced. In the Natal (Birth) Chart a planet retrograde has an added dimension to it as will be discussed in later lessons. 17

Planets do not actually move backwards; this is an optical illusion. The planets move around the Sun in ellipses (circles with eccentricity greater than zero), moving forward at all times. But since we are on a spinning ball revolving around the Sun, it does indeed "appear" that certain planets are moving backwards. If you found a planet that is retrograding in a chart set for the current time and went outside to observe it through a telescope, it really "appears" to be moving backwards. The reader needs to be able at this point to identify a retrograde planet in a chart. I want to give you a "feel" here of how these planets move around the chart. The Sun takes 1 year to make a circle and return to the same place. This is called a cycle. Mercury and Venus stay attached to the Sun as it moves around in the chart. Mercury is never more than 28 degrees from the Sun while Venus is never more than 48 degrees from the Sun. The rest of the planets along with the Moon "spin freely" around the chart. The Moon does not go retrograde; it simply moves forward at all times. The Sun is the "giver of life" in our Universe. Without it there would be no life as we know it. Consequently in the charts planets retrograde when they begin to oppose the Sun. They "bow" to the king so to speak. Run any chart. If you find a planet even close to an opposition with the Sun, that planet will always be retrograde. What is meant by an "opposition"...We know that the sign Taurus in a chart is directly across from Scorpio. This "directly across" is called an "opposition". While it is not necessary to memorize the following I just wanted you to be aware that planets take different lengths of time to complete a circle and return to the same place. The Moon takes slightly over 28 days. Mars takes 1.875 years. Jupiter 12 years. Saturn 29.5 years. Chiron 52 years. Uranus 84 years. Neptune 164 years and Pluto about 248 years. Transpluto 660.This means that the Moon moves much faster around the circle than does Mars for example.

18

ASPECTS

Aspects, or angles, indicate how the planets relate to each other. There are 3 classes of angles. 1) Trines (120 degrees) divide the circle into 3 equal parts. 2) Oppositions (180 degrees) divide the circle into 2 equal parts. 3) Quintiles (72 degrees) divide the circle into 5 equal parts. Since the numbers 2 and 3 are all that is needed to generate the Pythagorean music scale, these are the principle angles Astrologers use. The Quintiles are not considered major and will be omitted from this lesson; however, for future reference, they relate to creativity. At this point one might ask why I keep referring to the Pythagorean music scale. Pythagoras of Samos lived thousands of years ago. He was once quoted as saying, “All is vibration.” When I first came across this saying, my attitude was one of disbelief. Later as my knowledge grew, I began to see the genius of this man! Music is Vibration. ASTROLOGY IS VIBRATION. Music has intervals, frequency and oscillation. Likewise Astrology has this! Hence Astrology utilizes the scale! All that is needed to generate the scale is 2 (octaves) and 3 (fifths). Divisions by 2 and 3 in the first paragraph (above) come from this! An interesting characteristic of the scale is the simultaneous sameness and difference of the notes that compose it. Take a guitar chord and sound it. Now take the chord at its ½ way point and sound only ½. The note will sound the same but will be higher pitched because the frequency is doubled. So ½ = 2. Likewise 1/3 = 3. I have only touched on the subject, however, this was just included for your information. What follows is really all that is needed to understand how angles work in the chart. Taking the primary classes of angles, we further divide these by 2. Starting with 120 degrees we get 60, then 30. This comprises the class known as the Trines.

19

Starting with 180 degrees we get 90, 45, and then 22.5. Also we use 90+45= 135. This comprises the class known as the opposition. In Actuality we tend to call this class the “squares”. Draw a circle on a piece of paper. Start at the top of the circle and draw a line to the bottom. Start at the left of the circle and draw a line to the right. Go back to the left of the circle and put a “0” as this is our starting point. Mark the bottom (90) the left is (180) and the top is (270). Then we are back to “0” or 360 degrees which completes our circle. Then go to halfway between “0” and “90” this is 45 degrees. Draw a line from 45 degrees THROUGH THE CENTER to the opposite side of the circle (label this point 225). Then go to halfway between “90” and “180” this is 135 degrees and draw a line to the opposite side (label it 315). You have completed this class of angles. Now I want to give you the characteristics unique to each of the classes. The Trine (120) Class is harmonious. 2 planets 120 degrees apart, or 60 or 30 COOPERATE and work nicely together. Stop and memorize this! Two planets 180 degrees apart, or 90,135, 45 are inharmonious. There is tension. The planets do not get along, do not cooperate. Memorize. Now each aspect within the classes has its own “nature”. 180 (opposition) creates a “stand-off” between the 2 planets. The 90 (square) creates a different type of tension which through problems pushes one forward in life. The 45 (semi-square) and 135 (sesq.) are less imposing then the square. Also keep in mind that if a planet is at “0” and another is found at “270” we do not say they are 270 degrees apart. We say they are square (90 degrees) ... (360-270=90). I do not use the 22.5 in Natal Astrology but this aspect will be dealt with in later lessons. The Trine (120) is harmonious in that everything works well and you can just go to sleep; there is no energy involved. The sextile (60) requires a little energy, but things again work well. The (30) semi-sextile is less noticeable within the character (very mild) but again is harmonious.

20

An aspect not talked about is the conjunction. When 2 planets occupy the same degree of the zodiac, they are conjunct. A conjunction has the nature of tension in the form of focus. It “glues” the 2 planets together. The MAJOR ANGLES used by astrologers are 180, 120, 90, 60 and 0. These are known as the Ptolemic aspects dating back to Ptolemy. It is best to begin with these angles. Once these are thoroughly mastered move on to the minors. Now we have one planet at 1 degree of Leo and another at 6 degrees of Sagittarius. They are 125 degrees apart. Are they Trined? (120 degrees) Yes. Astrologers use an “orb” of aspect, meaning the planets are considered in aspect up to 6 degrees difference from the ideal angle. Also, there is no set rule among astrologers about what size an orb should be. Some use 4 degrees and some use 8. The “pro’s” I followed for years use 6 degrees. (NOTE: For “minor” aspects of 135, 45 etc., restrict the orb to 2 degrees.) What all this means is that, when planets are at one of these angles listed above, there is a relationship (connection) between the 2 planets. The relationship works well and is harmonious in the Trine class. The relationship does not work in the 180, 90 and 0 class, which causes tension in the individual. So either the planets are connected in a good way or a bad way when they are in aspect. More information on angles will be given in following lessons ahead. This lesson is meant to distinguish between the 2 classes and allow you to visually identify the angles. Experience shows that the best way to approach this lesson is to move on once visual recognition of the angles is mastered.

21

HOUSES AND RULERS There are 12 areas of life. These areas are represented in Astrology by the 12 houses. There are different methods for calculating house systems. You want to make sure you are using “Placidus Houses,” because we will be using only Placidus houses. Later on, you will want to test other house systems for their attributes. House #1 begins at the far left of the circle at a point known as the Ascendant (rising sign). The houses are numbered from this point in a counterclockwise direction from 1 to 12. The keywords to the houses follow: 1) personal power. 2) Self-worth, money. 3) Communications, brothers and sisters. 4) Home, the mother figure. 5) Children, love given, speculation. 6) Work, service, sickness. 7) Partners, marriage, lawsuits. 8) Death and rebirth, sex, money of the partner. 9) Education, law, long journeys, philosophy. 10) Career, father figure. 11) Love received, friends. 12) Secret sorrows, silent suffering and self-undoing. Before proceeding the reader should be able to identify the houses visually and their keywords. (NOTE: Again the law of opposites is used here. House 5 “love given” is always opposite House 11 “love received”. House 3 “communications, your output” is opposite House 9 “education, your input”.) The Ascendant is the start of the first house and the M.C. is the beginning of the 10th house. 2 other points not yet discussed are the beginning of the 4th house (I.C.) and the Descendent, which is the beginning of the 7th house. These constitute the 4 personal points. Notice that each House begins at a particular degree of the zodiac. PLANETARY RULERS: Each sign of the zodiac has what is known as a planetary ruler. Mars rules Aries. Chiron rules Taurus. Mercury rules Gemini. Moon rules Cancer. Sun rules Leo. 22

Transpluto rules Virgo. Venus rules Libra. Pluto rules Scorpio. Jupiter rules Sagittarius. Saturn rules Capricorn. Uranus rules Aquarius. Neptune rules Pisces. Note in the above the 2 inner planets both rule 2 signs. Many “astrologers” think that Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo and Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, but this is incorrect information. Pluto was discovered in 1930 in the sign Cancer. Pluto has to do with underworld and note Al Capone in 1930 making headlines. When Pluto was discovered, Astrologers went back and re-read the works of the ancients. It was from these writings that we learned to correctly interpret the planet. Not only did the ancients realize the planet was in the heavens, they also understood it! There are only 7 heavenly bodies available to the naked eye and Pluto is not one of them. Sometimes a house has a ruler (degree of zodiac that starts that house) along with a co-ruler which will be indicated in a chart. Erect a chart for an individual born on 8-21-69 at 10:34 P.M. Central Daylight Time in Springfield, Illinois. Now look at the 12th house. Pisces starts the 12th house but the entire sign of Aries is in it. So this 12th house has 2 rulers; Pisces and Aries. Note also in this chart that both the 9th and 10th houses start with Capricorn. Thus both of these houses are ruled by Capricorn and the importance of this will be presented later. If we take the keywords for the planet and the keyword for the sign it rules, we can note the similarities. For example, with the planet Saturn we get: separation, restriction, structure, and we can see that they are similar to the keywords for Capricorn (Saturn Rules Capricorn): strategy, structure and restriction. The reader is encouraged to continue this process with other signs/planets. When a planet is found in the sign it rules, it is strongest. This is its home, its domain. Saturn in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer are “at home.” Calculate a Natal chart for an individual born in Springfield, Illinois at 12:15 A.M. on 1-29-71. The Ascendant is located at 3 degrees of Scorpio beginning the 1st house. Since Pluto rules Scorpio, in Astrology we would say Pluto rules the first (Ascendant). The 2nd house starts at 1d Sagittarius. Because Jupiter rules Sagittarius, Jupiter rules the 2nd house. Continue this process to determine the planetary rulers for the other houses. 23

At this point the reader should be able to determine the house and its ruler along with all keywords.

24

COMBINING

Before proceeding you will want to make a few lists. Make a list of the Signs along with their keywords. Make a list of the Planets and their keywords. Make a list of the houses and their keywords, and make a list of the angles and the information I gave you on them, like 120d - harmonious, favorable etc. Perhaps an even better way is to use note cards, as suggested by a previous reader. Once these lessons are completed you will have reached a certain level of Astrology. A PLANET IN THE SIGNS: A planet in one sign is different than when it is in another sign. For example the planet Mercury (the mind) found in Capricorn has a different nature to it than when it is found in Sagittarius. We are going to form a sentence here. With Mercury (the mind) in Capricorn, the mind NEEDS to think a certain way. To identify which way the mind needs to think in Capricorn, we use the keywords for the SIGN. When Mercury is found in Capricorn, the mind needs to think in terms of STRATEGY. Another one; Mercury in Sag. The mind thinks in PHILOSOPHICAL ways. Notice what I am doing here. With Mercury in Aries, the mind needs to think in terms of force, energy. While one could say that this does not make sense, I have found that with this position the mind becomes quick-witted; talk is usually spontaneous and forceful. With this position the individual usually talks first and thinks second. Mercury in Taurus, the mind thinks in terms of building, whether it is a relationship, a house etc. With this position the mind is used to STRENGTHEN ones position. All that is being done here is the combining of keywords for the planets and the signs -- putting the sentence together and thinking about how the combination works. Mercury in Gemini, the mind thinks in terms of communication (the “talker” position). Mercury in Cancer, the mind thinks in terms of security. Mercury in Leo, the mind thinks in terms of ego. With Mercury in Virgo the mind works to discriminate (assimilate), to refine, to become precise. Mercury in Libra, the mind seeks what is fair, aesthetic. Since Libra is a sociable sign, the individual communicates in a pleasing manner (gift of gab). Mercury in Scorpio the mind works in terms of control. The mind is "deep". Mercury in Aquarius the mind 25

becomes eccentric and leans towards spontaneous change. Aquarians are often “shock jocks”. Mercury in Pisces, the mind works towards understanding spiritual meanings and relationships. The sentence with the Sun is: The Sun gives its energy to (SIGN KEYWORD). Your Moon is your emotional need. Mars is energy. With Mars the energy works through the sign holding Mars. This is not only sexual energy but tells where the individual’s energies are directed. Lets Say Mars is at 27 degrees Leo. This is known as being on "the cusp". As it progresses towards Virgo it takes on more Virgo qualities. At 0 degrees of Virgo it is said to be in Virgo BUT it will still have Leo qualities all the way to 3 degrees of Virgo. The way I explain this is at 27 degrees Leo it is 95% Leo and 5% Virgo. At 28d (d=degrees) Leo it is 80% Leo and 20% Virgo. At 29d Leo it is 60% Leo and 40% Virgo. These numbers are of course an estimate, as there is no real way of measuring, this but this is a valid example. Venus is an emotional and aesthetic need. The need to be loved a certain way. After mastering your own chart, move on to others that you are in contact with. This will facilitate understanding. Think of how you and the people you know "work out" their charts. The goal is to see how the planets "express themselves" in everyday life. An example; I have worked with an individual whose Mars is in Aquarius and in the 4th house. This person is highly sociable, loves to talk on the phone, PUTS TOGETHER FAMILY REUNIONS and is always on the go! Try to make connections on your own. Take for example the "Air Trine" constituted by the signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. These are sociable signs. Individuals with many planets in these signs are highly sociable. Individuals who lack any planets in these signs often struggle when around others incurring such things as "social anxiety disorder" and now you know why, as their social skills can, at times, prove highly lacking. With Astrology they can begin to work with this. Creating patterns that substitute their lack of sociableness. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars are known as the personal planets. The rest are the outer "generational" planets. I have counseled an individual who has Mars, Venus, Sun and Moon all in Aquarius (a sociable sign). No one is a stranger to this individual. He can "talk up a storm" to anyone about anything. It flows here. It is natural to him. I know of another individual with 26

no planets in the Air Trine and he repeatedly struggles in conversations!

27

PLANETS IN ASPECT Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto and Neptune (Neptune to a degree) are known as "hard planets". What this means is they can create a lot of tension when in aspect to themselves or other planets. Astrologers a few decades ago used the term "affliction" when there was an aspect made by one of the hard planets. In order to create this tension they must be 180, 90 or 0d apart. The 45 and 135 also cause tension but are less imposing thus we will set them aside here. Let’s run a chart for 8-21-69, 10:34:09 P.M. Springfield Illinois, Central Daylight Time. This should give you an Ascendant of 9 degrees Taurus. Note the Sun is squared by Neptune, this is tension. Also the Moon is conjunct Mars---again tension. Can you find any more? Search. You will find Mercury is conjuncted by Pluto, and both oppose (180d) the North Node. Let’s work with this one. Here Mercury is strong in Virgo (home), the mind thinks in terms of mental assimilation, to refine. Due to the conjunction here all of Pluto’s' power pumps directly through the mind. This creates an inspector or investigator type of mentality. This mentality is in opposition to the North Node (associations) of this individual. Surely we can visualize this. You are sitting in a coffee shop and in comes the inspector and sits down across from you. He does the natural thing and begins to interrogate. You quickly leave. The opposition is a "standoff," the 2 do not get along. Surely in the above we can see the mind causing problems in associations as no one likes to be interrogated. There is the tension. Note the lack of planets in social signs! We begin to see some interpersonal communication problems this individual will have. With an understanding of Astrology, the individual can become aware and work with these areas. Going back to the chart, we see the Leo Sun being squared by Neptune. The Leo ego is somehow being "brought down" by the illusions of this Neptune. How did I arrive at this point? There are other indications in this chart that warrant this deduction and will be talked about later. Note also the Trine (120d) between this Venus and Neptune. Trines are harmonious. These 2 planets work together to compliment the individual. There is no tension in the Trines. When a planet makes no major aspect in a chart, (180,120,90,60,0d) it stands alone. It will have magnified characteristics. I have observed many examples of this. The Moon 28

in Leo is a proud Moon, under a tension aspect from Saturn (restriction) we get overtones that something is taking away from the Moon. Later you will discover how to find out what is restricting this Moon. Remember that the tension aspects create a cross, 180, 0, and 90 degrees on both sides of the circle. A planetary build up in one sign of the zodiac will make that sign’s characteristics pervade the personality. Like 3 planets in Scorpio there will be a predominance of control to the personality. Add a couple more planets in Scorpio and we get "control freak", of course other dynamics will be involved. The above is easier to verify when the planets in question are the "personal planets". Review: In Astrology the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars are the personal planets, while the others that are slower moving are the "generational planets" as they can remain in the same sign for an entire generation. We take the keywords for the planet and the sign it is in and combine them into a sentence, then think about how that would show itself in the individual. We use 0, 90 and 180 degrees to find planets that are "under tension" from each other, while the Trine class represents the 2 planets working and cooperating with each other. A planet found in a house will express itself through that house (area of life). In any house Saturn is found, there will be restrictions and difficulties in that area of life. Saturn (restriction) found in the 7th house of relationships will cause the individual to experience difficulties and restrictions in relationships. It also tells us the ideal partner should have “Saturn qualities”. Run a chart for 1-29-1971, 12:15 A.M. Springfield, Illinois. This should give you an Ascendant of 3 Scorpio. Note Saturn in the 7th (relationships) here. This woman has always had problems in relationships until she found this man. Run the chart 1-5-1965, 10:35 A.M. Springfield, Illinois. This should give you an Ascendant of 20 Pisces. Note that this man is a Capricorn (Capricorn is ruled by Saturn). Also note that his Saturn is not in major aspect to any planet. It “runs wild” within the personality, it is strong and amplified. One may ask how she has experienced restrictions in her relationships. Her partners have been older (a pattern which is still intact) and they have been very possessive and abusive. 29

Uranus creates intensity and individualism in the house it is found. Uranus in the 5th (love given) intensifies the sex drive. Neptune in a house confuses the individual. Mars gives energy to the area of life (house) it is found in. Venus adds a grace. Jupiter the planet of “good fortune” gives the ability to expand easily in the area of life it is found. Pluto gives the individual “focus” in the particular house in which it is found. Mercury adds communication, and also a duality will be associated with that house.

30

HOUSE RULERS

In Astrology there are “house rulers”. This is the KEY to working with Personal Natal Astrology. Let’s say Libra is on the cusp of the 7th house. Libra is ruled by Venus. Venus is found in the 12th house of secret sorrows and silent suffering. This would be interpreted as secret sorrows and silent suffering in marriage. The ruler of the 7th (marriage) is in the 12th (secret sorrows). An example that jumps to mind is a chart of a wealthy Doctor’s housewife. Jupiter ruled her 2nd house (money, self worth) and was in her 8th (money of the partner). Here we can see that her money is coming from her partner. Also her self worth is tied into her partner’s money. Take a moment a see how the 2 examples work above. Another example of an individual who recently came to me was a female who is 20 and already has 3 children. Her chart data is 4-25-1980, 9:20 A.M., Springfield, Illinois. This should give you an Ascendant of 0 degrees Cancer. Note that her Venus rules her 5th house of children and is in her 12th house of selfundoing. Self-undoing with children. 3 children at age 20 and we can see where this is leading. In a chart planets can be in tension aspect with each other. As an example let’s say the Sun rules the 5th house and is squared by Saturn which rules the 10th house. There is a conflict here between the 5th and 10th houses! There is tension between children (5th) and career (10th). This shows you a very important method here: when 2 or more planets are in tension aspect with each other the houses they rule (areas of life) will have tension between them. There will be conflict between the 2 areas of life! Many Astrologers are unaware of how to synthesize a chart like this. There are the parental houses of 4 and 10. Love houses 5 and 11. Sickness and dis-ease (2 words here) houses of 6 and 12 etc. Begin making these connections in your own chart. Note: If the cusp of the 11th house was at 15 degrees Scorpio and a planet was at 13 degrees Scorpio (appearing to be in the 10th house) in my analysis, I would delineate it as if it were in the 11th.

31

(If it is conjunct the cusp put it in the higher numbered house). I apply a strict 2 degree orb here. Two planets up to 10 degrees apart are considered conjunct if a planet squares or opposes the midpoint of the 2 planets. One planet at 10 Scorpio and another at 20 Scorpio would be conjunct if another planet was found at 15 Leo, Aquarius or Taurus. In delineating charts the above methods are very important. When we find Gemini on the cusp of a house we can expect a duality associated with that house. As an example if Gemini was on the cusp of the 10th (careers) we could expect dual careers. Probably here a 9 to 5 job and a hobby that is or will earn money. In this example it would also be possible that there were 2 father figures (10th = father).

32

TRANSITS

The natal or birth chart is a “snapshot” of the planets at the exact moment of birth. It is a specific point in time. However, the planets continue on, moving around the circle (transiting positions). As they continue they come into contact with the “frozen” planets in the Natal chart. Each of these contacts has meaning and indicates the events and time periods of our lives. Everything that happens to you (I mean everything) can be found in either transits or Solar Arcs. The Arcs will be addressed later; here we will be dealing with transits. The above paragraph is what makes prediction possible because we know when these “contacts” will occur. What each contact means depends on the planets involved and the house or houses brought into the picture. In this lesson, I will give you the technicals of this method. These will be expanded later. Starting off there are harmonious times (everything flows for you) and inharmonious times (when you feel tension/stress). We will use the birth data of an individual born 11-29-69, 4:35 A.M. in Springfield, Illinois. Ascendant of 7 Scorpio. Notice Saturn at 3 degrees of Taurus. The harmonious times for this planet are when transiting Saturn is 120d or 60d from this position. The 120 degrees would be 3d of Virgo and 3d Capricorn. The inharmonious times are when Saturn is in tension aspect to itself. So we apply the “rose wind” to the 3d Taurus position... 45d gives (18 Gemini), 90d gives (3 Leo), 135d gives (18 Virgo), 180d gives (3 Scorpio) Then we do the other half of the circle...45d gives (18 Pisces) 90d gives (3 Aquarius) while 135d gives (18 Sagittarius). When transiting Saturn “strikes” any of these points we can expect difficulty (Saturn keyword). The nature of the difficulty is known by the house transiting Saturn is in when it strikes these points. If transiting Saturn were in the 7th house when the point was “struck” then we could expect difficulty (Saturn) through relationships (7th house = relationships).

33

There is orb and retrograde periods here I need to address. Calculate the above natal chart, and then run the transits for the date of 5-1-1998. (Time is irrelevant.) Notice Saturn here closing in on its Natal position. This is Orb. Saturn will be perceptible in the character at this time (it was). Its effects began to build and become stronger until the 2 planets were exactly at the same point in the zodiac. Here on May 1st it is located at 25d Aries. On 6-11998 it was at 29 Aries having moved 4d in one month’s time. Run the transits for 7-1-98 and it is at 1 degree Taurus, moving only 3 degrees in 1 month and thus we know it is slowing down. Stop and think about this concept. THE SLOWER A TRANSITTING PLANET IS MOVING THE MORE PERCEPTIBLE AND INTENSE ARE ITS EFFECTS. Notice in September the planet turned retrograde and began to move backwards. The time period is over! Once the planet turns retrograde its effects diminish. Run the transits for 1-15-99. Notice that Saturn is at 27d Aries and again is direct and heading for the Natal position. The time period along with the effects returned. In the 2nd passing, if the 1st passing was correctly dealt with the 2nd should be much easier. It is normally in the first passing that one normally “gets the surprise”. Here in this example the effects are not over until Saturn passes its Natal position in early April 1999. How did this “passage” affect the individual? We use the key words for Saturn. There was restriction, difficulty and separation. The difficulty occurred at work (notice that the focus here was in the 6th house; of work.) There was a separation but once the period was over AND ARMED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE ASTROLOGY PROVIDES the individual did get back with the person and the relationship continued. This time period “peaked” (strongest) about 1 degree before the ideal conjunction while transiting Saturn was at 2 degrees of Taurus. This is typical with the effects diminishing once the conjunction passed. We can take the keywords for the planets and do the same as above. Uranus (sudden change) hitting one of the above points would cause “sudden change” in the area of life corresponding to the house it is transiting at the time. This gives you a powerful base upon which to build.

34

RELOCATION CHARTS

Ezekiel 1:12 “and each one went straight forward, they went wherever the spirit wanted to go and did not turn when they went.” Ezekiel 1:16 “The appearance was as if it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel”. You are born, but when you move about on the Earth the “dial of the houses” turns. If you were born in N.Y. And had a bad buildup in the 7th house which was preventing you from fulfillment in relationships (7th), moving to Florida would put that build up in the 8th, freeing you! Millionaires, successful people using Astrologers are aware of this! Also when you talk to someone online or on the telephone your chart changes to that location. I have counseled many women who have had unfulfilling relationships and can not afford to move. I advise them to meet someone on-line etc. in order to change their chart, which changes their circumstances! Again calculate the above chart for 11-29-69, 4:35 A.M., Springfield, Illinois. Then go back after calculating it. Note that the hour’s difference from Greenwich is 6:00. This must stay the same… ALWAYS for this individual. Now calculate the chart for the same date and time BUT for Sacramento California. Change the hours different from Greenwich back to 6:00 and calculate. This will give you an Ascendant of 12 Libra. Notice that now Saturn is in the 7th house and the dynamics of the chart itself has changed. This concept is applicable if the individual were on the phone talking to someone in Sacramento. The chart would be what the person in Sacramento perceives, NOT the Natal chart! The process above is known as a “Relocation Chart”. Assume an individual is considering a job opportunity in another State or one in the home State. Joe Public would not have the Science of Astrology to draw on, so he takes a “blind leap of faith” which more often than not leads to misery, as we all know. With Astrology, we know the effects of the new environment in advance. ALWAYS KEEP THIS IN MIND. The Saturn transit above is not only limited to its Natal position but to all other planets and personal points in the chart. I recommend a fantastic book for learning how to interpret all of these configurations. Future Signs (How to make Astrological predictions) by Maria Kay Simms ISBN# 093512750-X. 35

A common theme with some individuals is they do not want to know what is coming, because it causes them anxiety about the future. My response to this is 2 fold. If we know what is coming, we can prepare for the bad times and push our luck in the good times. 2nd, we can minimize the “bad times” in our lives by understanding what is happening and act appropriately, which MINIMIZES the effects drastically. During a Saturn transit to its natal position, say transiting Saturn square Saturn, Joe Public is going to walk into this time period unexpectedly and thus receives a “surprise” when the cycle hits. W.D. Gann could not trade through his Saturn return as evidenced by page 35 of “Wall Street Stock Selector”. While you, watching and knowing can understand when the effects start and END and can apply the rules given in the “A to Z Horoscope maker and Delineator” pg. 519 and literally minimize the effects. I will give you an example here and I see this day in and day out in one form or another. Say in an experiment that in 1 month you will close on a house. Person B will also close on a house at the same time. Both you and person B will have Saturn squaring its Natal position at that time. The rule is “Purchase nothing new” at this time so you “back out”. Person B continues with the deal because he does not know and guess what, he gets the “big surprise”. Saturn will still affect you. Remember the keyword is restriction (Saturn) and you may feel that restriction in that you really wanted that house but person B will be getting the “blunt end” of the transit. This is one example of many I could give. There is a flipside to all of this that I and others use to get ahead; the Trines. Under a Trine everything flows along with ease, so much so that you may feel like “taking a nap in your hammock” so-to-speak. I use these times to push ahead in life! This is the time to “push your luck” in the area of life (house) the Trine is coming from (house holding the transiting planet). Knowing when these times occur is mission critical, in that you will be amazed at what you can do under the Trines once you begin working with them! A note I want to give you is when a planet is 10 degrees out from the exact aspect, you will begin to experience its effects. The effects will grow until the angle is exact, at which point the effects rapidly diminish. As mentioned above planets slow down before turning retrograde and are strong when they come out of retrograde, sit there then go direct. 36

An experiment that will give you immediate results follows! Calculate your Natal chart and run the transits for today. The outer wheel is the planets (for any time you desire) and the inner wheel is your birth chart. Note any angles the Transiting Moon is making (or will make) to planets in your Natal chart. Remember that a planet is often strongest 1 degree before the ideal angle. So write down the time the Moon will be 1 degree before the ideal and the time it will be exact (exact is called partile). NOTE: Keep in mind if a planet is square another planet in your chart, say Venus is Square Mars, When the Moon conjuncts your Venus it would also be squaring your Mars. On the above write down the “window” that the transiting Moon is 1 degree 15 minutes to 1 degree before a square to your Natal Moon and watch what happens that causes your “mood change”. Also write down the “time window” when the transiting Moon is 1 degree 15 minutes to 1 degree of opposing the Natal Moon. This window will be about ½ hour. Take into consideration 2 factors. 1) The house the transiting Moon is in. 2) The planet in the natal chart being aspected...which house does it rule? This is an important eye-opener as it will give you a feel for “tuning into transits”. I have yet to see an event occur that was not timed by this method i.e. The Moon is the master timer. Uranus officially went direct on 10-26-00. Prior to this it was weak and retrograde. I wish to share something with you that I have never seen in any Astrology book but which has been confirmed over and over in personal observations. The effects of Uranus “sudden change” begin 3 weeks BEFORE it comes out of retrograde. This period is about 2 weeks for Saturn, 1 week for Jupiter, and 1 month for Neptune. Markets work differently; often the affect occurs on the exact day of the Direct or Retrograde, more on this in another section.

37

CRITICAL TIME PERIODS

We all must pass through certain time periods. With Astrology we know when these time periods occur. We also know what they will entail and exactly when they will be over. With practice we learn how to handle them, we will also know not to trade through some of them. Let’s take for example the so called mid-life crises that both men and women go through. The period of Uranus is 84 years. Half this amount is 42, so around age 42 URANUS OPPOSES ITS NATAL POSITION. Its takes Neptune 164 years to go around the zodiac which means at 41 years it SQUARES ITS NATAL POSITION. Both of these cause tension and together are the cause of the mid-life crises wreaking havoc in the unsuspecting lives of the general public. Men and women suddenly (Uranus) up and leave their families often later regretting the decision. I have counseled many who have and will go through this time period. Run a chart for an individual born 9-26-60, 1:37 A.M. Portland Oregon. You should get an Ascendant of 1 degree Leo. Now run the transits for 1-10-2001. Note that transiting Uranus is 4 degrees from the opposition to the Natal position and closing in while Neptune is 2 degrees from squaring its natal position and closing in. This is the beginning of the “red zone” or time period for this individual. It will last until 4-10-2001. This is a 3 month zone or window in which the individual will experience major changes. Note transiting Uranus is in the 8th (Money and POSSESSIONS of the partner). While Neptune makes the angle from the 7th (marriage). There will be major relationship changes. Notice also that while the “zone” is in effect that Saturn (separation) creates a tension angle of 135 to its natal position from the 11th (love received) in March. Can you see this coming? In a session with her recently she suspected her husband of cheating on her. Have we located a divorce here? Fortunately, with Astrology, I was able to warn her a year in advance! This brings up a point; when one or more of the slower moving outer planets are making contacts like what we have here use the faster moving planets to time specific events WITHIN THE WINDOW OF THE SLOWER PLANETS.

38

When a transiting planet changes houses it corresponds to CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES AND CONDITIONS IN LIFE. This is especially noticeable with the outer planets Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Transpluto. Notice that Venus and Mercury stay attached to the Sun as the Sun goes around the zodiac. When Mars squares, opposes or conjuncts its natal position it usually relates to relationship difficulties or issues in the individuals life. Take the opposition. Get the date and recall what happened in your life. Then go back about 2 years where Mars was again opposing its Natal position get the date and you should find similar events repeated and will again! This can be done with other points. Often unpleasant time periods in ones life are timed by the Saturn cycle. Saturn takes 29.5 years to complete its revolution. The opposition, square and conjunction occur at about 7 year intervals. Meaning every 7 years we go through a difficult time. Take your chart and find when Saturn was crossing these points. Think back on what was occurring at that time. If anyone close to you has died, or a relationship came to an end, remember the date and see what aspect Saturn (separation) was making at that time to its natal position or other planets/personal points. Go through your life when events happened and try to locate what was going on in your chart using keywords on planets and houses. At first this may seem difficult but with more time and experience proficiency will develop. There are also good time periods. As an example around age 26 Uranus Trines its Natal position. This is usually a period of advancement in life. This occurs again at about age 52. Take any planet and find when it Trines its Natal position, this will create a harmonious time period a time to for advancement. Also use the 60 degree (sextile) to find favorable time periods. The slower the planet moves the longer the good time period will last. With the Trines things have a tendency of going so well that one often sits back and lets it roll. Experienced Astrologers use the Trines to push forward and thus get the most of life.

39

At times there will be both a Trine and a difficult time (caused by another planet forming an inharmonious aspect) occurring at the same time. When this occurs one can generally expect to receive help (Trine) in dealing with the inharmonious aspect. Another way to look at it is that the individual will handle the inharmonious aspect in a very positive way. An old adage used in Astrology is “you will not Fall when you have Jupiter working for you”. A woman Astrologer came to me concerned about her husband going through the mid-life crisis. I ran both of their charts and noted that while the cycles were in effect, the man had Jupiter forming a Trine to its natal position from the 7th house of relationships/partner. From this single aspect I was able to deduce that he would receive help from his partner during this trying time. Interesting in this particular example transiting Uranus and Neptune were in the 3rd house when they made their inharmonious aspects to the Natal positions. Since the 3rd house of communications is a mental house I quickly checked to see if any aspects were being made to the natal Mercury during this time as I suspected there would be a change in his thinking. What I found was transiting Pluto (transformation) conjuncting his natal Mercury. This backed up my initial deduction that there would be a radical shift in thinking and communicating during this time. I believe that the Jupiter aspect mentioned in this paragraph will be the partner/Astrologer understanding what is happening and actually helping him through this time period. As with any subject when it is first approached, it can take time to become familiar with it. These lessons should become a powerful reference tool for your understanding of Astrology. They explain the “mechanics” of chart analysis. The more you work with Astrology the more you will begin to make connections and deductions on your own. This process may require some time, however, I believe you will be amply rewarded!

40

THE ASCENDANT AND MIDHEAVEN

These 2 points are mission critical for the analyst to understand. At the time of sunrise at your location the Ascendant is conjunct the transiting Sun. At Sunset the Ascendant of your location is exactly opposed to the Sun. Many individuals believe that midday is Noon when the Sun is directly overhead. This is incorrect. The Sun is directly over head when it is conjunct the mid-heaven of the chart set for your location. A chart for New York, New York on August 16, 2001 has the Sun conjunct the M.C. at 1:04 P.M. A person standing in New York at that time would notice the Sun directly overhead or “high Noon”.

WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED This is as far as the analyst needs to go in PERSONAL ASTROLOGY. Much of personal astrology is an art form that rides on top of a science. It is the SCIENCE which is mathematically provable and thus is the direction we will be pursuing.

For a complete list of all of the meanings of the possible combination of midpoints you can purchase “The Combination of Stellar Influences” by Dr. Reinhold Ebertin. ISBN# 0-86690-087X. The cost is around 15 dollars. The technique of midpoints helps to clarify certain aspects of the Natal chart and also is a vital aid in predictive Astrology. We will begin with Natal Astrology. You will discover that a midpoint is the ARITHMETICAL MEANS between 2 plants. A midpoint is the mean between any 2 planets or a planet and a personal point such as the Ascendant. Calculate a chart for an individual born 6-29-1950 @ 1:30 P.M. In Lancaster, Pennsylvania. (Eastern Daylight Time). This should give you an Ascendant of 10 Libra. Note the Sun at 7 Cancer and the Moon at 5 Capricorn. The midpoint of the 2 calculates to 6 Libra. The Sun is at 97 degrees and the Moon is at 275.9 degrees. 97 + 275.9 = 372.9 372.9 divided by 2 = 186.4, this is 6 degrees Libra. If we wanted the midpoint for Venus and Pluto we would take Venus at 62.6 and Pluto at 136.6 add (62.6 + 136.6 = 199.2) Divide 199.2 by 2 = 99.6 or a little over 9.5 degrees Cancer. Note in this chart the Sun sits at 7 degrees Cancer. (With midpoints we use a strict orb of 2 to 2.5 degrees). Here in the chart we have Venus/Pluto = Sun. To interpret this midpoint we first look up Venus/Pluto which we find on pg. 146 of “Combination”. Then we move over to pg. 147 for the Sun. Note that the correct way to write a midpoint is in the equation form Venus/Pluto = Sun or a/b=c. The Sun in this chart rules the 11th house of love received. So to combine the midpoint for interpretation we get a peculiar destiny in love through love received (Sun rules the 11th). With this individual there is a problem with love received, she seems to attract the wrong type of partners who look more towards her as a “savior” than a true “partner in a relationship”. This pattern was actually traced back to her early childhood experiences through Astrology. So the midpoint holds true and was actually used by me to trace the root of her problem earlier last year. What we are doing here is using midpoint equations to clarify and in some cases fortify our initial deductions in chart interpretation.

42

The Cross; although the Sun sits on the midpoint above we form a cross to see if any planets or personal points square or oppose the midpoint. Again Venus/Pluto = 9.5 Cancer. So we would look at 9.5 degrees Libra, 9.5 degrees Capricorn and 9.5 degrees Aries. This forms a cross. (Again we use a strict orb on these points of 2 to 2.5 degrees). The Ascendant sits at 10 degrees Libra so Venus/Pluto = Ascendant. To interpret this we again go to pg. 147.

MIDPOINTS AND TRANSITS

At any particular time there are many transits to the midpoints of your natal planets. The correct way to use them is to fortify judgment about a particular time window. As an example let’s say that the transiting sun is in your 6th house and will square its natal position from the 6th. We can expect to feel “a little under the weather” on this particular day. To judge this “window” look for confirming factors of ill health. Take the ruler of the 6th and the ruler of the 12th. (This is the 6-12 health houses). Let’s say that the 12th house is ruled by Cancer and the 6th house is ruled by Capricorn. We would take the Moon (Cancer) and Saturn (Capricorn) in the natal chart and look at when a transiting planet would be in this midpoint or the midpoints “cross”. Lets say that the above midpoint Moon/Saturn= 6 degrees Leo. You note that on the day that transiting Sun squares its Natal position that transiting Mars is at 4 degrees Leo and closing in on the 6 Leo point. Since Mars moves slower than the Sun the “feeling under the weather” will be in effect for more than just a day. The Sun will simply be “the trigger” and we will have to wait until Mars clears the midpoint for the “window” to subside. This technique can be applied to many areas of life. With practice will come confidence. Take the midpoint of the M.C. and the Ascendant. A planet transiting this midpoint usually brings changes. The slower the transiting planet is moving the more change is indicated. Midpoints can also be used in Solar Arcs which you will be learning about next. 43

SOLAR AND LUNAR ARCS The concept of Solar Arcs dates back thousands of years. We are told in the Bible that Christ said “I shall appoint a day for a year and a year for a day.” The technique was used by advanced Astrologers throughout the years to fortify prediction. It was not until the last 100 or so years that books began to surface about the technique. Today Astrologers are in the main, picking up on the many uses of this method. Upon completion of this course you will understand the mathematics along with the technique itself. It is the goal of this writing to be up front with the information. Many books that have been read by this author will touch on Solar Arcs however none have given the exact mathematics in a straight forward manor. Essentially what we do is advance all the planets and personal points forward (in the direction the Moon goes) by approximately 1 degree every year. Meaning at age 25 all the planets and personal points are approximately 25 degrees from their Natal position. As this dial turns counterclockwise the planets that are being arced come into contact with the Natal planets. It is possible using this technique to time events to within 4 minutes. However, this requires very precise calculations. Here we will be able to time events to within 72 hours +/- with the software you are using. Most Astrology software, which can easily run into the hundreds of dollars, has a +/- window of 2 weeks. The reason for this is that the software fails to incorporate a time factor which I have found. The expensive software uses 365 days as a year. Our Solar year is actually 365.25 this small discrepancy can throw events off by as much as 2 weeks as it accumulates over time. At age 25 the expensive software uses 365 X 25= 9125 days of arc. When in actuality the Arc will be 365.25 X 25= 9131.25 days. The Earth moves in an ellipse around the Sun. The properties of this ellipse cause varying amounts of time to elapse for Earth to move the same amount of distance during different seasons. (i.e. The Earth speeds up and slows down at different points). This means that we use solar degrees in our calculations that are explained below. Erect a chart for an individual born 11-29-1969. 4:35 A.M. Springfield, Illinois. This should give you an Ascendant of 7 44

degrees 35 minutes of Scorpio. Our goal is to Solar Arc to age 29. So we add 29 days to 11-29-1969 which gives 12-28-1969. We also want to add 29 minutes to the birth time! This takes care of our problem of that extra .25 every year...simply add 1 minute to the birth time for each year! Now we have a chart for 12-28-1969 at 5:04 A.M. Springfield, Illinois. Note that the Sun is at 276.5499 in the birth chart the Sun is at 247.0418. We subtract 247.0418 from 276.5499 which gives 29.5081. This means that on the 29th birthday all the planets will have arced forward by 29.5081 solar degrees from their natal position. By adding all 29.5081 degrees to all the planets along with the Ascendant and M.C we have the Arc for the 29th birthday. We can use the Trines and Sextiles (120 degrees and 60 degrees) but these are really states of mind. To time EVENTS we use 45, 90, 135 and 180 on both sides of the circle. The Arc for the entire 29th YEAR of life is obtained by calculating the chart for 30 days plus 30 minutes. Get the Suns position for that day and subtract it from the 29th year (of 276.5499) we find that during this year the Sun moved forward 1.0195 degrees. I move the decimal over 4 places so we have 10195 units. 10195 Units divided by 365.25 days = 27.9123 units per day which is .00279 degrees per day. (This may be confusing to you but please bear with me). By this method Solar Arc Mars makes an aspect of 45 degrees with Natal Saturn on 7-29-99. Note that in the Natal chart Mars (Mars is the planet doing the arcing) rules the 6th house of illness. On 7-30-99 the subject was diagnosed by a Doctor as having chronic bronchitis. To interpret the meaning we simply look up Mars/Saturn in the book “Combination of Stellar Influences”. At the bottom of page 156 under probable manifestations is “illness”. There are other definitions BUT we know that Mars which is the planet doing the arcing rules the 6th house of illness. So we have a match that fits. 10 years or more before this date if we ran the chart for the date the same prediction could have been made and would have been accurate to the day, 10 YEARS IN ADVANCE! This is an extremely powerful method. There is what I call a “shot gun” approach here. Simply take the number of degrees between 2 planets and transfer that to years. If 2 planets are 29 degrees apart we can expect the Arc around age 29. If 2 planets are 151 degrees apart one would think there is no 45

need to think about them because you probably will not live to see that. But at age 29 they will be in opposition! 29 + 151 = 180.

MIDPOINTS: In the above chart note that the Natal Mars is at 317.9896 and that Natal Jupiter is at 206.9345. This gives us the Mars/Jupiter midpoint of 262.46205. Now note that the natal Venus is at 233.5053 and if we subtract this from 262.46205 (the Mars/Jup. Midpoint) we get 28.95675. Making the intricate calculations as we did above we can pin this down to within 2 to 3 days. Actually we could go beyond that and calculate it down to within 4 minutes if we used enough decimal places. On page 155 of “Combination” we find the interpretation “Fortunate decisions in love and marriage.” Note here that Venus the planet that is doing the arcing is the ruler of the 7th (marriage/partners). What happened on this day? On this particular day this young lady was asked by an astute Astrologer for her hand in marriage. She accepted.

LUNAR ARCS: Use the technique above for the Lunar Arcs. If we wanted to look at the lunar arcs for the 29th year of life we would calculate a chart for 12-28-1969 @ 5:04 A.M., which gives the Moons position at 147.8978. Then calculate the chart for 1229-1969 @ 5:05 A.M., which gives the Moons position at 159.7687. For the whole 29th year of life the Moon moves 11.8709. Or almost 1 degree a month! In the 29th year the Lunar Arced Moon travels from 27 degrees Leo to 9 degrees Virgo. At 7 degrees Virgo the L.A. Moon is squaring the Natal Sun. This Lunar Arc will be in effect for about 2 months. All Lunar Arcs have their effect for 1 month approaching and 1 month separating. Their interpretations are listed below. An aspect here is Conjunction, Sextile, Square, Trine and Opposition. This is the method L. Jensen refers to in his book “Astro-cycles and Speculative Markets”.

46

DURATION OF INFLUENCES Solar Arcs that do not involve midpoints build up for 6 months and scale down for 6 months if the angle is conjunct square or opposed. For minor angles such as 45, 135 etc. there is a 2 to 3 week build up and a 2 to 3 week scale down. The center of the time is the date it becomes exact. So a Solar Arc will be in effect for a year if it is a major angle. The Solar Arcs which are midpoints are “points of force” in ones life. These are exact points in time. Lasting only a few seconds. Lunar Arcs build up for 2 to 3 weeks then scale down for 2 to 3 weeks. The center is the due date. The uses of this method are many. Combining this technique with transits lets one explore on a deeper level, fortifying prediction not only in the personal life but in financial markets as we will see later. I also use this technique to pin down the time of a birth. I simply find the midpoint using arcs then go back and work to narrow down the 2-4 day window. Many times individuals have come to me wanting a reading but not knowing their exact time of birth. Working this method backwards will rectify the time. As an example let’s say lady P. had a child on 7-11-91. We find on the solar arcs the midpoint for birth showed up 4 months later. We simply calculate to “align” these 2 points which would give the actual birth time. I do, however, test the rectified time to make sure other points line up correctly. Solar Arcs and midpoints of Solar Arcs will cluster together during important time periods of life. To test this method find the times in your life when the Solar Arcs were due. Calculate the dates and see what was going on at those times. Your past is the absolute best way to test this method.

47

A SECOND EXAMPLE It is often good to have a second example on hand. Erect a chart for 8-21-1969 10:34 P.M. Springfield, Illinois. The natal Uranus is at 2d 12m Libra which is 182.1933 The Natal Jupiter is at 6d 16m Libra which is 186.264 The natal Sun is at 28 Leo 52 which is 148.8696. To get the Arc for the 4th year of life we simply add 4 days and 4 minutes to my birth time and date giving 8-25-1969 at 10:38 P.M. The Sun position is at 2 Virgo 44, which is 152.7286. If we subtract from this the natal Sun we get a difference of 3.859 degrees. So on the fourth birthday all the planets had moved forward exactly 3.859 degrees. On the 5th birthday all the planets had moved forward exactly 4.8204 degrees. So between the 4th and 5th birthdays the total arc was .9614 of a degree. Taking this number and eliminating the decimal we get 9614 which we divide by 365.25 (number of days between the 4th and 5th birthday) and get an arc of 26.32 units per day. The difference between the Natal Uranus and Jupiter is 4.0707 We see that in the beginning of the 4th year the arc was 3.859 so we subtract this from 4.0707= .2117 So we move the decimal here and get 2117 and divide by 26.32 = 80.4....this 80.4 must be added to the fourth birthday which would give an exact date of 11-9-73. So Solar Arc Uranus conjuncts the Natal Jupiter on 11-9-73.

SOLAR RETURNS AND SECONDARY PROGRESSIONS

A Solar Return is a chart erected exactly when the Transiting Sun is Conjunct its natal position. The conjunction must be exact TO THE SECOND. The recommended software does this calculation for you. The erected Return will be in effect for the entire year (until the Sun conjuncts again next year.) Interpretation of this chart is similar to that of a natal chart with a few small exceptions. Emphasis is taken off the “sign” the planet is in. The emphasis is on the “house” the planet is in. The Solar Return emphasizes and highlights the themes for the coming year. Experienced Astrologers will purposely take “trips” to control the return as moving about on the globe will have a direct impact on house placements. As an example Jupiter is due to be in your 6th S.R. house the coming conjunction. You feel you would be better off with Jupiter in your 5th house as it would greatly improve your trading. You would then take a trip to a location which would move Jupiter into your 5th in the Return chart. You must be at that location when the Sun EXACTLY conjuncts in order for the return to be effective, Some unique characteristics of Solar Returns...because of the eclipse cycle the Moon is limited to 19 placements in the charts before it begins to REPEAT. Venus has only 8 placements in the chart and begins to repeat Calculate a chart for an individual born 11-29-1969. 4:35 A.M. Springfield, Illinois which gives an Ascendant of 7 degrees Scorpio. The correct Solar Return chart for this individual is valid from 1129-00 to 11-29-01. The Ascendant will be 19 Gemini. The return chart lasts one year…until the next return. We would simply delineate this chart the same as a birth chart i.e. Saturn will bring restriction in the house it is found etc. Remember

49

the “signs” have little significance and house placements are crucial. The Egyptians used a precessed version of this technique (most software handles this calculation). You should experiment with both to arrive at the correct method.

SECONDARY PROGRESSIONS Secondary progressions are similar to Solar Arcs in that both use the “day for a year” to progress the chart forward. Gann used this technique in Tunnel and so I am covering it here. If we erect our 11-29-1969 chart as above with our 7 degree Scorpio Ascendant and wanted the progressions for the 20th year of life we would add 20 days to the 11-29-1969 chart, getting 1219-1969 with an Ascendant of 23 Scorpio. Notice Pluto here at 27 Virgo 22. In the Natal, Pluto is located at 27 Virgo 07. Meaning by this method it has only moved 15 MINUTES whereas the “Solar Arc” method would have moved it 20 DEGREES. The time when aspect occur (become exact) during the year represent events in terms of the planets symbolism. NOTE: In Solar Arcs we take the amount of movement of the Sun and apply it equally to all the planets. Here in Secondary Progressions we arc each planet forward AT ITS OWN RATE as shown. Gann and others would watch transits to these arced positions. Not all planets produce affects and it is up to the analyst to determine which ones are profitable.

50

SYNASTRY Synastry is one of the most important aspects of our lives. It is how we relate with another individual. The following is my personal attempt at consolidating what I have read and applied to hundreds of real life examples along with my personal discoveries. It is condensed experience that I use day to day. One of the most important contacts between the charts of 2 people is what I call “Nodal Contact”. When a planet in person A’s chart is conjunct, square, or opposed the Node of person B the two are “tied” together in terms of the planet in person A’s chart. The way it works is here: Say in the above person A had there Venus (Love) conjunct the Node of person B above. In this example PERSON B would have strong feelings of love for person A which would work to tie the 2 together. The person WITH THE NODE would be “drawn in” by person B. (Venus conjunct Node) is the MASTER ASPECT between 2 people. Ironically the square (Venus square Node, or Venus opposed Node) will have similar results but with only 75% of the “power” of the original (Venus conjunct Node). Remember though the planet does not have to be Venus for the “tie together” to work. But Venus is the ultimate here. If the planet were Mars the two would be tied together sexually. Sun in terms of Ego, moon in terms of emotions, Mercury in terms of communication/thinking, Jupiter in terms of reward issues, Saturn in terms of structure, Uranus in terms of individuality (One would appear very eccentric; the other would admire this eccentricity). Neptune in terms of religion/inspiration. Pluto in terms of destiny. Venus is love so the two would be tied together with aesthetic appreciation. What YOU want is your partners Node conjunct your Venus. The above is the first thing I look at between 2 people/charts…it is ALWAYS so revealing. Note: The square and opposition are inharmonious aspect BUT we must remember that the North and South Nodes form an axis. Here the square and opposition along with the conjunction merely “tie into” the axis and thus are harmonious.

51

Time and Time again I am asked “I am an Aquarius what is the best SUN SIGN for me to go out with”. There is a GRAVE error here. First off it is NOT the Suns that are the most important between the 2, it is the VENUS’S. We will use this as I do: as a point of departure into the mechanics between 2 people. But before I get into the planets I need to explain the aspects/signs. Signs are supporting if they are 60 or 120 degrees apart. Like Beginning with Libra as the base we count 2 signs over or 2 signs back which would give Leo and the other way would give Sagittarius for the 60 degrees. For the 120 degrees we count 4 signs over or back which would give Aquarius one way and Gemini the other way. A Venus in Cancer not in aspect with a Venus in Scorpio WILL be supporting. Lets look at how. Venus in Cancer is security. Venus in Scorpio is control. The individual with Venus in Cancer will gladly give control to the individual with Venus in Scorpio thus relinquishing control to achieve security. The person with Venus in Scorpio will gladly take control over the other and NEVER feel threatened as the Cancer Venus gladly takes the back seat working for stability in the relationship. On the flipside counting 3 gives the square. 6 the Opposition. Using the Venus in Cancer and counting 6 gives Venus in Capricorn. The Venus in Cancer needs to deal with emotions. The Venus in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn: restriction) will have an emotional brick wall, pent up emotions about them which the Venus in Cancer will find appalling and unacceptable. An underlying sense of unfulfilled needs will materialize once the newness of the relationship diminishes. Summing: the above signs are supporting or non-supporting, regardless of aspect. When the 2 Venus’s (one in Cancer and one in Scorpio) are within 6 degrees of a Trine (120d) aspect there is a bonus here! There will be a comfort between the 2. If we are looking for a long-term relationship the above is MISSION CRITICAL. You want the Venus’s (120 or 60d). If the Venus’s are conjunct, square or opposed there will be NO HARMONY in the relationship. There will be a GROWING feeling, of an underlying sense of uneasiness. One individuals Love needs (Venus) will be under tension to the others love needs. This brings us to the conjunction. In the conjunction the Needs of the 2 are identical. Thus If both need the exact same way neither 52

can fulfill the other. Like 2 people, both starving in Africa neither can fulfill the others needs because they both seek the same. The exception here is if the 2 conjunct planets are different planets. One Venus at 1 degree Libra and another’s at 16 Sagittarius. These are supporting signs but note there is an inharmonious aspect of 45 degrees. There are 2 points I wish to make here. First this can also occur with an aspect of 135d (Supporting sign inharmonious aspect). Second we need to tighten orbs since these are “minor aspects” to 2 degrees. We then interpret it as there will be support through tension. Meaning the 2 will accept the tension and MUTUALLY feel as if the tension actually helps them. But you do not want this, as our goal here is to seek fulfillment in a relationship that is non-combative. Our goal is to achieve happiness in a mutual state of “flow”. The Venus MUST BE IN GOOD ASPECT for maximum results. Now after the Venus’s we do the other planets likewise. We compare in order of importance: MOON, SUN, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter etc… between the two charts. In the same manner as we did the Venus’s. This gives clues as to what parts work together. Remember Trines/Sextiles will support the relationship, while conjunctions/oppositions/squares will “strain” the relationship. An Opposition is an aspect that creates a “standoff” between the 2 planets. When 2 planets are opposing each other between the charts of the individuals it will create problems in terms of the symbolisms of the planets involved. As an example lets say her Mars is at 18 Scorpio and his Saturn is at 19 Taurus. There is a standoff between the 2. Her Mars (energy) works for control (Scorpio). While his Saturn (ambition) works to build (Taurus). We can see her wanting control while he needs to build (be in control) of himself. She is going to feel squashed thwarted in this relationship. She is going to feel he is extinguishing her energy (Mars). From this point I look at what aspects Saturn makes in the 2 charts. If person A has Saturn Squaring person B’s Mars, Person B will feel blocked. This is what I call a “tombstone” which in most cases creates excessive tension.

53

My next step is to take a look at the individual charts. I immediately zero in on the 7th house as it is ALWAYS telling. Pluto either by Natal or Transit in the 7th is a “tombstone”. Uranus in 7th the individual will be rash, wanting a quick wedding. Saturn in 7th is restriction and the individual will need a partner of Saturn qualities (explained below). Mars in 7th the individual will seek highly active, energetic, often rash partner. Such is the case with women bent on dating/marrying only athletes. Mercury rules Gemini (duality). Often individuals with Mercury in the 7th will carry on several marriages/relationships etc. Neptune in the 7th sets up the need for a partner to fulfill other needs (some other real reason for the relationship). All others are acceptable. Next I look at the position of the ruler of the 7th. I have counseled many that have the ruler of the 7th located in the 12th. Interpreted as; Secret sorrows, silent suffering and self undoing through relationships/marriage. Hardly conducive to our goal of fulfillment.

54

CRITICAL TIME PERIODS IN RELATIONSHIPS

All relationships are presented with difficult time periods. These time periods are knowable in advance. The case below is a “live” working example of just such a time period. The couple as of today (8-29-00) is in the process of working it out. I have continuously counseled them through the period. I was also able to “dangle the carrot” in front of them by knowing EXACTLY when the end of the period is, which, in this case is mid-September when Saturn goes retrograde and is no longer able to influence. Let’s look at the charts. The female was born 1-29-71 @ 12:15A.in Springfield, Illinois. The male was born 1-5-65 (unknown time; use noon default). In the females chart we note Saturn in the 7th. Her partner will probably be older (father/Saturn figure). In the males chart here we find he is a Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) AND HIS SATURN MAKES NO ASPECT in his chart. It is his defining characteristic as it shows in his every move! His Saturn is located at 1 degree of Pisces. Looking at the females chart Jupiter, Neptune and Mars are located at 2-3 degrees Sagittarius (This focus is charisma which gives a spark to the personality) this is her defining characteristic! But in combining the 2 charts we note her “spark” is square Saturn. She will feel Squashed (Fem. Mars square Male Sat.) 3 months ago the relationship began to have problems. WHY? She moved out a month ago. What is going on here? Well there was separation which immediately clues us into Transiting Saturn now, a seasoned astrologer many months ago would not only have seen this but would have intuitively noticed that Saturn is slowing down (intensifying) until it goes retrograde in mid-September. Note Transiting Saturn is squaring the Natal Saturn in the Male chart…simultaneously opposing the 2-3d Sag. Buildup in the female chart! This technique is EXTREMELY powerful! Locate a major square between the 2 charts and watch what happens when one of the outer planets Saturn on configures with it by transit. We can see the relationship is under tension. Their defining characteristics are being “squeezed”. The female was medically treated for depression in early August. Depression is a “mental state”. Notice transiting Saturn is 135d from her Natal Mercury at 16 Capricorn! Mental (restriction/Saturn) = depression!

55

When 2 individuals meet they can meet under deceiving aspects. Transits which fool them into making rash decisions. Sometimes one can feel “drawn to another”. A female that has a T-square in her natal chart of Uranus (15 degree Pisces), Venus (15 degree Virgo) and Saturn at (15 Gemini) will be strongly attracted to a male that has his Mars at 15 Sagittarius. His Mars completes her T-square (fills it in). The union will be extremely sexual (Mars fill in). But the Male will soon learn he is being squashed By her (Her Saturn squares his Mars). “Tombstone”. attractors are Mars Trine Moon and Uranus Trine Moon.

Other

When meeting or becoming serious with another individual watch aspects to your Venus. You can blindly find the love of your life under transiting Uranus square your Natal Venus BUT…when the Transit ends the “veil” will be lifted. Feelings of love often are involved with Jupiter Trine/Sextile or Conjunct Natal Venus. Even here one must wait until the aspect subsides for the “veil” to lift. Astrology supersedes all of this and thus reveals its true value! Psychologists tell us the most important issue between couples is money. Next in importance is sex and sexuality. In Astrology sex is usually attributed to the 8th house by amateurs. Sexuality really corresponds to the 5th, 11th and 8th. The 5th is love given, the 11th is love received and the 8th is sex. These 3 work together to comprise what we call sexuality. Also the planet Venus (love) is involved in the “sexual attitude”. Venus will be explained below. I will list here the beginning parameters I use. Saturn (restriction) found in the 11th (love received) sets up a deeply involved need for love. Saturn (restriction) in the 5th house of (love given) sets up a sets up a “tightness” through emotional restriction. Uranus (intensification) found in the 11th (love received) causes the individual to demand immediate attention from the partner. When this need is unfulfilled there will be problems in the relationship. What is meant by “immediate attention”...the partner must literally drop whatever he or she is doing and EMOTIONALLY acknowledge the presence of the other even 10-20 years down the road in the union. Uranus (intensification) found in the 5th (love given) intensifies the sex drive. I actually call it “the turbo sex drive”. Transiting planets through a house will have a “time period” to them. Like Uranus transiting the 5th will be in operation 56

for only 6-8 years. We can expect this “turbo sex drive” if Uranus squares or opposes the ruler of the 5th. Say Aries is on the cusp of the 5th house in the Natal. We know Aries is ruled by Mars. If in this chart, Uranus squared or opposed Mars we can expect the “turbo elements”. Mercury found in the 8th or Gemini on the cusp of the 8th communication (Mercury=communication) will be very important in the sex act. When Pisces is on the cusp of the 5th we can expect Gemini on the 8th which puts Virgo on the 11th. Let’s explore this. We have the cloudy, illusional Pisces on the 5th (love given) with the dual natured Gemini on the 8th (sex act) and the discriminating (in terms of mental assimilation) Virgo on the 11th (love received). This can set up a myriad of problems ranging from confusion to homosexual/bi-sexual aspects. NOTE; in the above Mercury rules both Gemini. Mercury is duality. We want to pay attention to the 5th, 8th and 11th houses to paint an overall picture of the individual sexuality, whether it is a house ruler or a planet in one of those houses. Recently I did an experiment. I went into a dominatrix chat room. For those unaware of what I am talking about these were the individuals who have created a sexual lifestyle involving, whips, leather and obedience etc. My goal was to see if there was a pattern in the charts that indicated this type of lifestyle. I offered to do everyone's chart for free. What I learned was that over 70% had Uranus (intensification) conjunct their Venus in the Natal chart! This is intense/extreme (Uranus) love (Venus). This led me to take a much closer look at the role of Venus in the charts. What I came up with was Venus = “sexual attitude”. A very powerful attracter between 2 people is the midpoint of Mars/Venus. In an example let’s say person A has Mars at 13 Sagittarius and Venus at 22 Cancer. The midpoint would be 2 degrees Libra. So we would use the squares. 2 Libra, 2 Capricorn, 2 Aries, 2 Cancer. Now person B has their Mars at 15 Aquarius and the Venus at 22 Scorpio giving a mid-point of 3 Capricorn which is valid and the 2 were attracted and still are. Another Attractor is the opposition of the Ascendants tying the 2 together. I know of a male with an Ascendant of 4 Sagittarius. 57

The female has an Ascendant of 5 Gemini. This ties them together. Ironically their first child had an Ascendant of 4 Pisces which forms a T-Square within the family. Often market traders are drawn to a specific market. The reason for this is in the synastry.

HOUSES AGAIN Your favorite Uncle (your mother’s brother) is in the hospital with what appears to be terminal cancer. Which of the 12 houses represents your Uncle? Your Uncle is your mother’s brother. The 3rd house of anyone's chart represents your brothers and sisters. Provided your mother played the nurturing role she is represented by your fourth house. With that in mind we are going to use an artificial overlay. This overlay is imaginary and it looks exactly like houses in your chart. We will call this “wheel 2”. Wheel 2 begins the 1st house (1st = personal power and the other keywords) on the Ascendant and moves counterclockwise like 2nd house 3rd etc. Placing wheel 2 on your chart so that the beginning of house 1 (Ascendant) is directly on the beginning cusp of your 4th house (mother). This represents your mother in relation to you. Now on that wheel 2 count over to the 3rd house which is her brother and sisters. The beginning of the 3rd house is the beginning of YOUR 6th house in your chart. So YOUR Uncle is represented by your 6th house. Because the 3rd house (brothers) of wheel 2 is directly over your 6th house. (Your mother is your 4th house, her brother is the 3rd house). Always count the beginning house as 1, in our example we counted house 4 in your chart as 1, house 5 as 2, house 6 as 3). Transiting Saturn (separation) is due to make a 90 degree aspect to your natal Moon from your 6th house. Your Uncles life is indeed in danger. An easier example. We know that “love given” is represented by the 5th house. You are married to person X. Person X is your partner which is represented by your 7th house. So if we place our wheel 2 so that the Ascendant of wheel 2 starts exactly at the beginning cusp of your 7th house (partner) we notice that house 5 on the second wheel is exactly your 11th house. Love given by your partner IS love received by you. We know that in your chart your 11th house stands for “love received”, proving the validity of the technique. Take a moment and think of what is going on here. You receive love from your 11th house while your partner (7th) is giving love from their 5th.

59

Your 8th house is money and self-worth of your partner. This is figured by placing wheel 2 again on the cusp of your 7th house (partner) and counting to house 8. Money and self-worth are 2nd house matters so on wheel 2, the 2nd house is directly over your 8th house in your chart. Someone at work is being especially friendly to you and you suspect other motives may be involved. You notice that Transiting Neptune (the author of plots and schemes) is in your 8th house making a 45 degree aspect to your natal Mercury (communications). But how does the 8th house fit into it? The communications are occurring in the work environment which is represented by your 6th house. So we place the Ascendant of wheel 2 directly on the starting cusp of your 6th house. Now you notice that Neptune is making this aspect from the 3rd house (communication) of that second wheel...we have just confirmed your suspicions as we have proof that something really is “other than it seems”. Look elsewhere in your chart for the reasons i.e. Upcoming time periods. Unfortunately from this method, taken by itself, there is no way to determine the event in advance. Like with your Uncle being hospitalized with cancer, we could not have known this 3 years prior when he was healthy. Other techniques must be used to fortify prediction with this method. Often a student will say “I have this Transiting aspect happening now and it does not fit with my life”...the reason is found through the houses 95% of the time in this manner. Your mother’s mother is your 7th house. While your fathers mother is your is your first house. Make sure you understand how I am deriving these...your partners mother is your 10th house. Students often wonder about their boss at work. Which house represents their immediate boss? The authority figure 10th. The spouse of your boss is represented by your 4th house. Your boss’s brother is your 12th house. Your partner’s boss is your 4th house. Your brother/sisters partner is your 9th house.

ADVANCED ASPECT STRUCTURES Students are often befuddled by T-squares, Grand Crosses and Grand Trines. We will be exploring each one of these here. A Grand Trine is 3 planets which are each 120 degrees apart. Mars at 13 Sagittarius, Venus at 13 Aries, and the Moon at 13 Leo. This creates a triangle within the circle. Trines are considered “favorable” in charts so one would assume this setup is the “mother load”. Students have often exclaimed “so and so has a Grand Trine and are lucky.” Unfortunately too much of a good thing can work against you as Grand Trines often do. The manner in which a Grand Trine operates within the person depends on whether the Grand Trine is in Fire, Earth, Air or Water. (From time to time I will run across a case where 1 of the planets is in another element, use the element that has at least 2 planets). In an example let’s say person X has a Grand Trine in Water. The emotions will be pulled back or held back from the relationship. You may have had an encounter with just such a person. In the middle of a discussion there will be silence. When you ask what is “wrong” the individual struggles to get the word “nothing” out. This puts great strain on any relationship as the attitude works to say “I don’t need you.” What if the N. Node, Ascendant or Midheaven constitutes one of the points of the Grand Trine? The structure continues to operate but is less perceivable, phasing in and out. A T-square is so called because it is an opposition of 2 planets with both being squared by another. Mars at 13 Sagittarius opposing Venus at 13 Gemini with both being squared by Saturn at 13 Pisces. The T-square is interpreted as a midpoint combination, however it is much stronger. The planet NOT in the opposition is considered the midpoint of the T-square. In the above example Saturn is the mid point. Note what house mid point is in. In this case Saturn will be in our 5th house. The T-square is then going to “discharge” its energy into the 11th house. (11th house is opposite mid point). We interpret the T-square as a midpoint, through the 11th house of love received. The individual in our example is going to have multiple problems in a relationship. Not only is Saturn (restriction) in the 5th house of love given but the VenusMars Female-Male principle is at odds. Let’s say we caught up to 61

this individual and discovered the T-square. We would look at which houses the planets of the T-square rule...and there we will find the reason why this aspect of tension is manifesting in the life of the individual. An outer planet hitting the open point of the T-square will produce life-changing events while a swifter planet will produce a “very bad day or 2”. A Grand Cross is 4 planets at 90 degrees to each other creating a square within the circle. It is a T-square with the open arm filled in. In our T-square example above Pluto at 13 Virgo would fill in the T-square making it a Grand Cross. An Angular Grand Cross would have a planet in the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th. Note that the parental houses are involved here which will emphasize the growing up years. Often this individual will need to marry the mother or father figure that comes along. This will cause tension within the relationship (7th) as the “parent figure spouse” fails to measure up. A Succedent Grand Cross involves houses 2, 5, 8 and 11. This ties the money (2nd) into the arenas of love received and given. This individual will find it hard to compliment others and often can talk down to or about others to boost the self. A Cadent Grand Cross involves houses 3, 6, 9 and 12. communication and education come into play.

ADVANCED PREDICTION TECHNIQUES

Here we utilize and draw on previous parts to fortify interpretation. I first begin with transits. Saturn through Pluto are critical to watch in detail as they time most of the significant occurrences in ones life. In this example we will be using Transiting Saturn Squaring Natal Saturn which is a challenging time period about every 7 years. (Saturn squares opposes or conjuncts its natal position every 7.5 years.) When Saturn goes into Sagittarius/Capricorn it is moving especially slow and we can expect the “time period” to last longer then when Saturn zips through Gemini. In this example Transiting Saturn is squaring its natal position and we look at 2 main factors. Which house is Transiting Saturn in when it makes the aspect and which house does the NATAL Saturn rule? Combining these 2 we usually have a very good idea of where the tension will be. I would then write on a calendar 3 dates and connect them. The beginning of the effects, the date Saturn reaches its strongest point (1 degree before exact) and the end date when the aspect is exact. The beginning of the effects for Saturn would be 8 degrees out. If Saturn was squaring any other planet the effects would start at 4-5 degrees out. A planet is always more potent when it is contacting its own Natal position. For a more comprehensive study of why this occurs one needs to intimately understand the music scale. In our example the beginning date is June 2nd, the strongest point date is August 8th ending August 31st. Saturn's speed is also slowing down (intensifying) as it goes into the August dates. Note it takes 2 months to transverse 7 degrees then it takes 2.5 weeks for the last degree. Once this Saturn time period has been marked on the calendar I then go back and work with the swifter moving planets. If I noticed a Mars square Mars I would write that down just as I did Saturn within the time period. A mars square during the time period with a backdrop of Saturn would be more intense than if it occurred without the Saturn Square. Next are Venus, Mercury and the Sun. Now I have an outline of the time period. After completing the Transits I would then check the Solar Arcs. On Solar Arcs I first check to see if there are any of the larger squares, oppositions and conjunctions (not midpoints). Because these larger Solars take time to apply and separate I would check a 63

little outside the time period for due dates. As an example if I had an arc due May 15th which is outside the Saturn period above, may indicate that the “trigger” on the Saturn period would occur on that date. I now have more details and am better informed. I then locate specific points of force (Solar Arc midpoints). I write these down on the calendar as well. Noting if there are any “clusters” around any specific date. If there is a cluster I go back and look at the transiting Moon which will ALWAYS give exact time and information as in the lessons. Saturn is a cycle of separation and restriction. I am going to give you the rules for this time period. 1) Make no changes. 2) Make no removals. 3) Purchase nothing new. 4) Avoid social occasions. 5) Seek not to gain. 6) Be aware that this time period has a tendency to temporarily “warp” your thinking, although you think you are “seeing straight” generally you are not. The above rules I have laid out for you are gold. They have been time tested both by me and students. After my “calendar” is set up I then check the charts of anyone in my immediate circle to see how my time period will affect them. By doing this I will be better armed and able to better understand what others are going through. Also I will fortify my interpretation of the events to come. Here is an example that actually set up. In 1995 a mother died of Cancer leaving behind a husband and 4 children. The father had Pluto crossing into his 4th house and opposing his M.C. Neptune was Squaring his natal Saturn (breakdown of the structures of reality). Transiting Saturn was conjunct Venus which ruled his 7th house (partners). The first child had Saturn (separation) conjuncting her North Node and squaring her Moon (mother). The 2nd had Pluto opposing her Natal Saturn while Transiting Saturn opposed her Sun which ruled her 4th (home and mother). 3rd child had Uranus squaring his Ascendant. Saturn just entered his 4th house and was squaring his Moon. 4th child had Pluto conjoining his Moon in the 8th house while Saturn conjoined his Ascendant and 45 his N. Node. All of the above occurred at once. The entire family was affected and it showed in every chart!

Had there been a need, an astute Astrologer could have picked up on this 10 years in advance...well before any signs of cancer. This shows the value of what I call “cross referencing to confirm”. This is powerful Astrology. It does not have to be a family member. I usually begin with my own chart in terms of the larger transits and from there know who to cross reference with. Few Astrologers will perform this service yet it is so vital to understanding the time periods. Spend some time with your chart and the chart of another. Look for something challenging that you both went through and observe how it set up in your chart and the chart of the other. Then look for “similar points” that were simultaneously impacted.

CONCLUSION Your purchase of this material was probably to enhance your understanding of financial markets. While the previous pages were necessary to build a foundation, future parts will be dealing more with the mathematics. It is in the mathematics that astrology and its components are raised to a science, taken out of the domain of interpretive art.

DECLINATION Before this point we have been primarily using Longitude. There are other important factors and one is declination. The planets spin around the Sun. At the same time they also move from North to South and South to North of the Sun. The Earth is no exception and this is what causes our “Seasons”. At the Winter Solstice the Earth is as far North as it can go. Thus the Sun shines primarily on the southern hemisphere at this time. The Earth then begins to move South (down) and as this occurs, Spring begins which leads to Summer and the Earth is as far South as it can go. Thus the Sun shines on the Northern Hemisphere. Declination is the “measure” of this movement. Because we are using Geocentric (Earth Centered) Astrology/Astronomy your software handles Earths movement by telling you that the Sun is moving North and South. Physically the Sun does not move as per our discussion. Your software computes the Suns Declination. The highest North or lowest South that the “Sun” can move in declination is 23 degrees 27 minutes. It reaches this twice a year. Once in Summer and once in Winter; June 22 and Dec. 22 with a small variance. But the exact minute for your locality is when the Sun hits 0 Cancer 00 (Summer) and when the Sun hits 0 Capricorn 00 (Winter). Running a chart for those moments you will notice that the declination of the Sun is at its Max. Spring and Fall occur at 0 Aries 00 (Spring) and 0 Libra 00 (Fall). Running a chart for that moment you will notice the Sun is going from South to North (Spring) and North to South (Fall). To put it another way, the exact moment of the Suns ingress into Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn officially begins the seasons. Other planets also have declination which varies and can exceed 23 degrees 27 minutes. We will get to that in a moment. In a natal chart whether it is a commodity or an individual, each planet along with the Sun and Moon has declination. It will be 1 of 2 places. North or South, that is all. So a planet either has 66

North Declination or South Declination. When 2 planets are both at 19 degrees North declination they are called PARALLEL. When one planet is at 19 degrees North Declination and the other is at 19 degrees South declination. They are called CONTRAPARALLEL. The orb is 1 degree either way and the effect is that of a conjunction as per interpretation, however, in financial markets this 1 degree orb is greatly reduced. Let’s take a look at a chart. 6-8-1991, 7:17 am, Springfield, ILL. Note the following; Mars is at 19 North 43, Saturn 19 South 03, Mercury 20 North 58, and Venus 21 North 56. So we can see from this that Mars is CONTRA_PARALLEL Saturn. (Energy meeting restriction) Mercury is barely PARALLEL Venus. There are others in this chart. Look at Neptune! When a planet or Moon reaches as far North or South that it can go it is known as maximum North or South. On June 18, 2000 Mars reached Maximum North around 8:00 A.M. As viewed from New York at 24d 13m 07s. This is known as Maximum North.

SOME OLD NOTES ALONG WITH BOOKS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR YOU TO PROCEED

You have probably noticed the proliferation of computers and electronic gadgets over the past 20 or so years. You have probably also heard the expression “Age of Aquarius”. These Ages last a little under 2200 years. The decade 1940 to 1950 marked the dead center of the transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius. Pisces is a WATER sign. Pisces relates to religion among other things. Aquarius is an AIR sign. Aquarius relates to electricity (electronic gadgets). 100 years ago in the Age of Pisces if you wanted to travel to Australia you would travel by WATER. Now, if you want to go to Australia you go by AIR. Look back at the technological advances of the last 100 years and what you are actually doing is looking at the Age of Aquarius coming in. Many have talked about the so called decline of moral values which they have related to the decrease in church attendance. Pisces emphasized the structure of the Catholic Church as well as others. Recently the Pope was in the States trying to drum up church attendance. This shift is actually due to the Age of Aquarius which emphasizes the “brotherhood of man” over church. The decline in moral values is actually a shift in moral values. (i.e. the values are changing to align more within the Age of Aquarius.) Perhaps it was no coincidence that ENIAC (first computer) was built in 1945.

In 1994 when I was studying Bill Gates I became intrigued when a journalist asked him what the secret to his success was, he replied “I was able to see the future!”. It would be a couple years before I understood what he meant. Gates was an avid studier/researcher of Napoleon. I began to study Napoleon only to find out that Napoleon studied and later used Astrology. What is very interesting is to Use Napoleons birth chart and read a biography working with the charts transits. This allows you to get inside of his mind. His date and place of birth are Ajaccio Corsica, 8-151769 @ 10:17 A.M. 42d 08min. North Lat. And 08d 57min East Longitude. His Ascendant is 17 Libra with an M.C. Of 20 Cancer. Everything in nature moves in cycles. Making predictions from these cycles is not only accurate but after the premise or technique becomes understood, the method appears easy. An elementary 68

example of this is the Earths movement around the Sun. If it is Spring we simply count 365 days to get the next Spring. If we wanted to forecast a Spring 5 years from now we simply count (365 X 5) 1825 days out into the future. If it is Spring and we wanted to forecast Fall we would use Pythagorean Harmonics, specifically in this example, the octave. (365/2= 182.5). Counting 182 days out into the future will bring Fall. What we have done here is taken the 365 day cycle and divided by 2. We can also use the double octave of 4 and counting 91 days out into the future we can predict the new season. Keep these harmonics in mind. For everything there is a TIME and a SEASON. Most “Gann experts” fail to take the seasons into account. Beginning in 1776 when the US was at war, finally declaring its independence, and adding the 84 year cycle of Uranus, we get 1860 (Civil War). If we add another complete cycle of Uranus to 1860 we get 1944 (WW2). Adding another period of 84 years brings us to 2028. BUT before you predict a War keep in mind we are in a different Age. Do not get me wrong, there will be upheaval BUT in a different form around that time! The above Wars occurred while Geocentric Uranus was conjuncting its natal US position. Keep in mind the planets move in ellipses causing varying amounts of time to elapse. (The properties of the planetary ellipses work like this: When a planet is farthest from the Sun ‘Aphelion’ it is moving very slow compared to when it is closest to the Sun ‘Perihelion’ where it is moving swiftly.) When Titanic sank it became “anchored” in the time continuum. 84 years later we were again awestruck by the sinking of the great ship! (There is actually a part in the beginning of the movie when the 102 year old woman starts looking back and exclaims “It has been 84 years”.) Recall from the Lessons that Uranus is “sudden change”. 84 years after the sinking of Titanic we were again in tears. Perhaps Mr. Cameron knew something that the Hollywood execs did not. Hollywood “knew” the film would not make any money. I also want to give you the US birth chart stats: 7-4-1776, 2:13 A.M. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. E.S.T. This chart has Gemini rising, however, another popular chart in use has Libra rising. 7-41776, 12:20 PM again Philadelphia, PA.

ARITHMETIC, GEOMETRIC and HARMONIC It took me awhile to learn how to construct a musical scale and be able to understand the inner workings. I have not seen this in any book, however it is critical for use with cycles, and is also valid in financial markets! Arithmetic. B = (A+C)/2 Geometric. B squared = A times C Harmonic. B = (2 times A times C) divided by (A+C) To construct the scale we will start with the Octave of 1 which is 2. So A = 1 and C = 2. The Arithmetic Mean is 1.5 or 3/2 (Musical fifth) The Harmonic Mean is 1.333 or 4/3 (Musical fourth) If A= 360 and B= 720 then: The Arithmetic Mean is 540. The Harmonic Mean is 480. As in all vibration (Astrology) these scales can be repeated at one or more octaves above. The ratios would then be halved: A= 180 B= 360. The Arithmetic Mean is 270. (270 = 3 squares of 90). The Harmonic Mean is 240. (240 = 2 Trines of 120).

The planets move in 3 dimensions. The orbit in the zodiac is a 2 dimensional plane figure while the movement from North to South to North being the 3rd dimension known as latitude, furthermore Kepler was able to erect the entire music scale by pairing off planets. Take a piece of paper out and draw 15 vertical lines each at least ½ inch apart. Make line #1 you’re largest on the left and descending to the right. Number the lines 1 on the left to 15 on the right. Number 1 being your largest is the fundamental tone. We then 70

take ½ of the fundamental tone which is the Octave and our line 8. (Label line 8 = 1/2). The next Octave is ½ of ½ or ¼ which is our line 15. 2/3rds is known as the 5th so we count over 5 spaces from the fundamental and label line 5 (2/3rds). The Octave of 2/3rds is 1/3rd and line 12 gets labeled as such. (2/3) SQUARED is 4/9ths which is our line 9. If we doubled the line in length (4/9 X 2) we get line 2 and label it 8/9. 8/9 X 2/3 (our 5th) is our line 6 at 16/27. ½ of line 6 is our line 13 at 8/27ths. But 16/27 x 2/3 (our 5th) is 32/81 or our line 10. The Octave of our line 10 is 32/81 X 2 = 64/81 which is our line 3. 64/81 X 2/3 =128/243 which is our line 7. The octave of our line 7 = 64/243 which is our line 14. 3/2 divided by 2 is our line 4 at ¾ Line 4 divided by 2 is our line 12 at 3/8. Tones of the scale are gotten by reducing successive 5ths by the appropriate number of octaves. In our example 8/9 is known as a tone above C. So 64/81 is known as 2 tones above C. The reason for this is as you shorten the string length the tones produced are above the fundamental...C. Pythagoras believed that 2 was female and 3 male or the odd and even numbers. His reason for this was that Octaves, POWERS OF 2, do not produce any new tones. The number 3 is needed to produce new tones. Convert your notes into decimals like 128/243= .526 Do this with all your lines In market studies you may run across a number or 2. Say you have a number of 1.3333 convert this number into a tone by using the reciprocal. If you had a move of 10 and found another move of 5...the 5 would be the octave above the fundamental. Or the 10 would be the Octave below which is the greater and lesser. THE INTERVALS OF THE SCALE CAN BE RELATED TO EACH OTHER BY SPLITTING THE OCTAVE BY ITS ARITHMETICAL, GEOMETRICAL AND HARMONIC MEANS. Let’s use an interval of 72 & 144 which is the Octave 2:1. The Arithmetical Mean is 1080 while the harmonic mean is 96. 108 divide the interval into 2 ratios. (108:72...144:108) reduces to (12:8...16:12) reduces to (3:2...4:3) 96 divides the interval RECIPROCALLY. The combination of the Arithmetic and Harmonic duplicates proportions within the interval. ALL SYSTEMS OF PROPORTION ARE BUILT ON THE GEOMETRIC SERIES. Because 1/2=2/4=4/8ths we have double geometric series...1,2,4,8. While the male creates 1/3, 3/9,

71

9/27, 27/81, 81/243, 243/729 which is 9 over 2 circles and the ROOT is 27 which is part of our SQUARE SERIES. If one was building a house one could take the height to be the Geometric, harmonic or arithmetic means of the length or breadth. Ptolemy also derived a scale which uses the Primes 2,3 and 5. Draw 8 Vertical lines from left to right in descending order again. Number 1-8 left to right. Line one is the fundamental line 2 is 8/9th 3 is 4/5, 4 is ¾, 5 is 2/3, 6 is 3/5, 7 is 8/15 while 8 is our octave or ½. While this fancy footwork is valid we will be ignoring the bulk in this work. The Dow high before the crash was made on August 25th 1987. Look at the conjunctions of planets at that time. Indeed, what a large “trigger”. Note also that there is a 10 year recession cycle. From 00 to 01 of any decade. The cause for this is that at that time Jupiter and Saturn transiting are conjunct or opposed. Many of you will recall the 80-81 recession along with the 90-91 recession but if you go back in time it is like this for every decade. Planets changing signs correspond to changing conditions on Earth. (Sign of Times). This is especially noticeable with the slower moving outer planets. Let’s look at Neptune (drugs). Neptune in the 60’s was in Scorpio which is ruled by Pluto. Some keywords for Pluto are psychosomatic, psychiatry and psychoanalyst etc. The Drug of choice in the 60’s was LSD. This works in Scorpio ways to change perspective. In the early 70’s Neptune crossed over into Sagittarius. An impulse, fire sign, and the drug of choice became Cocaine. (Jimmy Carter was quoted as saying “A little cocaine is OK in recreational use”.) Then in the 80’s Neptune went into Capricorn (restriction) and Reagan declared a “Drug War” aimed at restricting the import of drugs. At the same time crack cocaine became the rage. Another term for crack is “rock” cocaine as it is distributed in rock form. Rocks are structures which Fall back to Capricorn. Within the last few years Neptune moved into Aquarius which is a very sociable sign. Police seizures of the drug Ecstasy quadrupled in one year and are still on the rise. Clubs, now known as “Raves” where a high percentage of the people are on Ecstasy popped up overnight. Interesting is that the users of Ecstasy say it makes them more sociable by letting them “open up” to others. Let’s take a look at a very “sociable” Summer dubbed the “Summer of Love” 1969. Both Uranus and Jupiter crossed over into the sociable sign Libra and were tightly conjunct through the Summer! When conjunctions are occurring in the heavens something is “happening” here on Earth. Spend some time taking conjunctions and looking at the times where they were in effect. Take a note of the SIGN the conjunction occurs in the form of its keywords. The Great Depression (late 1929 to July 1932 as recorded by the economic barometer--The Dow) was caused by a transiting Tsquare between Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter along with a very 73

powerful Eclipse in May 1928. The Sun spot cycle was on a downward slide from 1928 to 1932 which directly relates to decreased business activity. Another method...take the key-word for a planet like Saturn (structures) and look at the history behind the structures. Let’s take Boulder Dam a.k.a. Hoover Dam. Construction began in 1931 when Saturn was strong in Capricorn. The plans for the Jefferson National Memorial in St. Louis were originated in 1935. But it would be 30 years later (1 complete revolution of Saturn) before the structure known as the Arch was completed (10-28-1965). The building of that structure was organized in 1961 when Saturn was again in Capricorn. It is not my intention to pull all of history together but to give you the “tools” so you can make these connections on your own. ANCIENTS USED ECLIPSES, AND ASPECTS TO THE DEGREE THAT THEY OCCUR. On December 24, 1973 there was a large 12 minute eclipse. This was the longest lasting eclipse of the Century. On that date the Shaw of Iran announced that the 6 main oil producing nations (OPEC) in the Persian Gulf will increase the price of oil from $ 5.10 a barrel to $ 11.65. This sent Western economics into a recession. Eclipse at 8 Cancer on 6-30-73 there was an abortive coup in Iraq where the defense minister was killed. When Mars squared this point President Kayibanda of Rwanda was overthrown in a coup. A good ephemeris that shows eclipse dates is “The American Ephemeris...1900-2000” Geocentric by Neil F. Michelson ISBN# 0-935127-20-8. You would want to also use a “time-line” that shows dates of events in history. On February 5, 1962 Eclipse at 16 Aquarius. Feb. 20 when Mars was conjuncting that point John Glenn became the first Astronaut (US) to orbit Earth. May 30, 1965 Eclipse occurred @ 8-9 Gemini. On 6-3-65 when Mercury was crossing this point Ed White stepped out of a space capsule and took the first space walk.

There are many SENSITIVE POINTS in the Birth Chart. One such point which is commonly used by Astrologers is known as “The Part of Fortune”. This is the Ascendant + Moon - Sun. DAY RULERS Each day is ruled by a specific planet. Sun = Sunday, Moon = Monday, Mars = Tuesday, Mercury = Wednesday, Jupiter = Thursday, Friday = Venus, Saturn = Saturday. Sunrise is defined as the minute the Ascendant crosses the Sun in that particular location... (Sun conjunct Ascendant). This moment begins our “1st hour”. The first hour of Sunday is ruled by the Sun. The Succession is as follows: Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. So the 2nd hour of Sunday is ruled by Venus. The 3rd hour is ruled by Mercury etc. Sunrise on Tuesday morning. Day ruled by Mars. First hour ruled by Mars. Given a birth date or beginning date of 8-21-1969. We would add 8+2+1+1+9+6+9 = 36.The next thing we do to bring this number to between 1 and 9 is deduce out as many nines as possible. 36-9= 27, 27-9= 18, 18-9= 9. In short this can be written as 36=9. Looking above we can see that 9 is ruled by Mars, so Mars rules the above date and all is number. Many intelligent men have studied markets and met with little success. The reason for this is obvious at this point. Everyone “knows” astrology is just a hoax, therefore, failing to TEST this premise the door remains open for the avid student. The number one problem facing the analyst is which “chart” is the actual birth chart. Many analysts will begin with the wrong date of a commodity or stock, not get a result and scrap the project as not valid. This is most unfortunate as we will see. This concludes the section of some of my old notes which are added to enhance the reader’s perspective at this point. Some of the examples listed will be later expounded upon. The books referenced must be obtained by the student before proceeding. The goal of this work is to work with the planets and leave the

“Gann squares” out, so the student is able to understand the astrological underpinnings.

ASTRONOMY When I was working with new students privately, I would always emphasize the importance of this Chapter. Here, I can not stress it enough. Gann knew Astronomy and you will need it as well. Many Astrologers fail in the markets because they do not have the proper background in Astronomy. At this juncture you are probably thinking “Oh-great, another field I have to study.” Let me tell you though, this is a small price to pay for your goal of understanding financial markets. Please dear student, do not overlook the importance of this chapter. I can not emphasize this enough. Do not leave this Chapter until you thoroughly, and I mean thoroughly understand things such as Right Ascension, Latitude, Coordinate Systems, etc. Computers are great tools, however, in this regard, doing charts for us, teaches us nothing of the underlying principles and mathematics’ behind the final product of a natal chart. For this we need a Table of Houses. In putting together this book I searched for a Table that was available in rather large numbers as to accommodate future readers of this work. I found the book “Michelsen Table of Houses” ISBN# 0-935127-60-7. You need to work through the examples in the book, working not only on your chart but on at least 3 others that you know. Then use the book to work through the examples in the “A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator” by Llewellyn George. Once this is complete, go to the next step below. For those that can afford it, I highly recommend Starry Night Pro available at www.starrynight.com for around 300.00. In the long run this will be money well spent and the program comes with an e-book. For those that can not afford the above software I recommend “The Ever Changing Sky: A Guide to the Celestial Sphere” by James B Kaler. ISBN# 0-52138053-7.

In combination with the above book or similar, there are bountiful websites on Astronomy. A few are listed below. Again you MUST have a complete understanding of this field.

THE TUNNEL THRU THE AIR

This is an incredible book. Most serious traders have written the book off as a bad attempt by Gann at a romance novel. Some have read it with the feeling that Gann is actually talking about something else. Some have gone as far to take the time to understand it in order to successfully trade markets. This book is your “Bible”. If you find something that works in financial markets it will be coded in the “Tunnel”. I will give you an example of Gann’s writing style. On pages 3 to 7 of “Wall Street Stock Selector” by W.D. Gann he has a section entitled “Panics from 1814 to 1929”. To the unskilled reader it appears to be a history lesson, however, underneath it is much more. Using the natal chart of the N.Y.S.E. (May 17, 1792. 8:52 A.M. Local Mean Time. New York, New York) one can see that during the years referenced by Gann we have aspects to the Ascendant and M.C. by outer planets. Gann states that there were bank failures in September 1873. Running a transit chart we find transiting Saturn opposing the N.Y.S.E. Ascendant. Gann then mentions the 1910 to 1911 Depression as being caused by the government (Government is a Uranus key77

word in financial markets) which alerts us to transiting Uranus and sure enough we can see the opposition by transiting Uranus to the Ascendant of the N.Y.S.E. In 1864 we find transiting Neptune conjuncting the N.Y.S.E. Midheaven. In 1890 we find Jupiter opposing the Ascendant while Chiron later conjuncts the Ascendant. Many more examples can be found which are very interesting because in 2004 transiting Chiron will oppose the Ascendant with transiting Saturn later conjuncts the N.Y.S.E. Ascendant. Knowledge of the underlying astrology and astronomy is critical to understanding this man’s work. Bonnie Lee Hills’ videotape should be viewed several times at this point. An interesting oversight by many “Tunnel” readers is that Robert did not win the war alone; he had the help of Walter. Sepharial’s real name is Walter Gorn Old and later we will be reviewing some of his work.

STATIONS, INGRESSES AND THE MOON As you know by now Geocentric planets move forwards and backwards (retrograde) then forward again in their course. The day that the planet changes, either form direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct is known as stationary. The planet just sits there. A planet going from retrograde to direct is known as Stationary Direct (SD). A planet going from direct to retrograde is known as Stationary Retrograde (SR). The degree that the planet goes SR is important especially if it aspects a natal planet (2 degree orb). The reason for this is that the same planet must pass over that degree again. In ancient times planets retrograding were known to have “mutative” qualities as opposed to when they are direct. Modern day science has noted that there is a shift within the color spectrum 78

between a direct planet and the same planet in retrograde. Again both SR and SD days are important and will time changes of trends in markets if other factors are present. A transiting planet changing signs is known as an ingress. A planetary ingress occurred on August 22, 2000 when Mercury left Leo and entered Virgo. Mercury ingressed into Virgo. Not all ingresses will affect all markets. There must be another factor present to turn a specific market. The beginning astro-economist looks at lunations. New Moon, Full Moon for change of trend days. We are going to go a step further. A New Moon is simply a conjunction of the Sun and Moon. A chart set for New York April 23 2001 between 10:26 am shows a New Moon. A full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon are opposed in transit. A chart set for New York May 7 2001 at 8:52 am shows a Full Moon. You may or may not get a market turn at these 2 events. The point of a New Moon becomes a “sensitive point” as in our example above this would be 3 Taurus 32. This “sensitive point” remains in effect until the next New Moon. A planet by transit squaring, conjuncting or opposing the sensitive point of 3 Taurus 32 should be watched. This is especially true if a larger cycle is within orb of a turn. For a detailed explanation of sensitive points refer to Lesson “Eclipse Points.” A full Moon where there is an opposition the same applies. The degree where the Sun is in the opposition becomes the “sensitive point”. In the above example for the Full Moon the point is 17 Taurus 04.

MECHANICS OF AN ECLIPSE Book needed; “Eclipses” Sepharial Eclipses account for over 20% of stock market activity. You will learn that as an eclipse point gets “hit”, news seems to be released which affects stocks for better or worse, as well as Commodities and our lives. There are 2 types of Eclipses. There is a “Solar Eclipse” where the shadow of the Moon is cast on the Earth and there are Lunar Eclipses where the shadow of the Earth is cast on the Moon. Your software lists all eclipses and types. There are 2 things we want to investigate. One is the point of Eclipse and the other is the exact duration of effect. SOLAR eclipses have duration in minutes. Let’s say a particular SOLAR eclipse lasts 2.5 Minutes (2 Minutes 30 Seconds). The duration of the effects then lasts 2.5 YEARS. A SOLAR eclipse lasting 3 minutes would remain in affect 3 YEARS. Lunar Eclipses also have a duration of affect. Let’s say a LUNAR eclipse lasted 6.5 minutes. This would equal 6.5 MONTHS (not years). If a LUNAR eclipse lasted 4 minutes its duration would be 4 MONTHS. There is a formula for duration. Let’s use the Eclipse that occurred on June 30, 1935 at 2:59 p.m. New York. The Sun was at 8 Cancer 05. The closest Node (it does not matter which) was at 22 Cancer 41. 22d 41m - 8d 5m = 14d 36m divide this number by 5 = 2d 55m 12s. The inverse of this number is .34246 Then we take .34246 X 5 = 1.712
