Announcement For the convenience of our customers we have endeavored to condense our line as much as possible by discarding those patterns which are out of date, or little used, and also by listing only a base number for lock sets. The numbering system is so simple that another lock may be substituted readily in place of the one listed, if so desired. We hope and believe that this book will commend itself to the busy buyer who does not wish to wade through a mass of matter that does not interest him, in order to find what he wants. It will be our constant effort in the future, as in the past, to keep the "SAGER" line in the front ranks for quality, which policy, together with service and fair treatment, has given the name "SAGER" a reputation second to none in the Builders' Hardware Industry. SURFACE SYMBOLS Prefixed to any finish number indicates an unpolished surface. Buffed. Coarse wheeled (ship finish). Dull. Fine wheeled (ship finish). Sanded.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORDERING LOCK SETS In order to condense this catalog, we have listed each kind of lock set with one lock only. When a different lock is wanted, in place of the one listed, a set number is made by substituting the number of the lock wanted, for the number of the lock given in the printed list. Thus, if an Akron Design inside set is desired as No. AR-126, but with a better grade lock as No. 30, the number will be AR-130. Likewise a cylinder office set, as No. AR-171, but with heavy lock No. 70, will be numbered AR-170, etc., etc. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORDERING ESCUTCHEONS AND STORE DOOR HANDLES When ordering escutcheons only it will be necessary to specify what lock they are to fit, as well as the number of the escutcheon. Thus, an Akron Design inside escutcheon No. 14 which is wanted to fit a No. 26 inside lock should be specified as "AR-14 to fit No. 26 lock," or "AR-14-26 Escutcheon." It will also be necessary, when ordering Store Door Handles only, to specify what lock they are to fit. Thus, "AR-81 to fit No. 93 lock," or "AR-81-93 Handle only," etc., etc. ARRANGEMENT The goods shown in this catalog, are so arranged that the Locks, Plain Miscellaneous Hardware, and Store Door Handle Sets, appear in numerical order, thus making them of ready reference and eliminating the necessity of a numerical index. The balance of the book is arranged in alphabetical order. STEEL AND IRON GOODS The numbers for goods made in steel or iron, are the same as the bronze numbers of the same pattern, except that the figure 0 is prefixed to the bronze number to indicate iron or steel. Thus a plain Bronze flush sash lift No. 4301, when made in steel, is numbered 04301, etc., etc.

Take Hand of Door from outside of building or room. The outside of a Front, or Entrance Door, is the street side. The outside of a room door, is the corridor, or hall side. The outside of a closet, or bath room door, is the room side. The outside of other doors, such as communicating doors, twin doors, etc., is that side from which the butts are not visible when the door is closed. If the door swings inward to the right, it is right hand. If it swings inward to the left, it is left hand. If it swings outward to the right, it is right hand reverse. If it swings outward to the left, it is left hand reverse. A reversible lock can be used on any of the doors illustrated above. If beveled, rabbeted, or recessed locks are required, it will be necessary to specify the hand of the door.

HAND OF CASEMENTS

The hand of a casement window is taken from the room side. If the butts are on the right hand side, it is a right hand window. If the butts are on the left hand side, it is a left hand window. Specify if open in or out, as "right hand sash opening in," etc.

When locked from the outside by any but the display key, access can be had, with change, master, or grand master key. When locked from the inside, the key cannot be withdrawn, and the master or grand master key will not then operate. Can be unlocked from the inside at all times by change key. Knob is rigid when locked from the inside. EMERGENCY KEY will operate from the outside at all times, by first locking, and then unlocking, which retracts both bolts. DISPLAY KEY will be furnished if desired. This is a special guest key. When the door is locked from the outside with this key it cannot be unlocked by either the master or grand master key, thus insuring against intrusion by maid or attendent.

The above illustrations show the type and construction of the "Sager" Cylinders. Both the Change Key and the Master Key operate in the same groove or slot. The Sager Cylinder can be made up in unlimited changes, and can be Master Keyed and Grand Master Keyed in any desired number of sets, and with any quantity of locks in a set that may be required. APARTMENT HOUSE MASTER KEYING is so arranged that all keys to apartments are different, but all of the apartment entrance keys will operate the main entrance doors. NOTE.—Never oil a cylinder, as the oil will catch dust and clog the movement of the pins. If lubricant is needed, apply a little graphite in the keyway.

MODEL A Furnished with Cast Knobs Only

The outside knob is pinned fast to the spindle. The inside knob, by means of the screw shank and lock nut, is adjustable for doors from 1% to 2% inches thick. Other thicknesses to order, This method gives a very close fit, and smooth action, eliminating any end 7 -inch in diammovement, or binding. The shank is 4 eter and is mounted on an escutcheon collar of the same size, which gives it a firm bearing and a neat appearance.

MODEL B Furnished with Cast, or Wrought One Piece, Knobs

Model B

The outside knob is pinned fast to the spindle. The inside knob is held securely by means of a hardened steel set screw which operates through the shank into the groove in the spindle. Adjustable for doors from 1% to 2% inches thick. Other thicknesses to order. The shank is h 7 -inch in diameter, and is mounted on an escutcheon collar of the same size, which gives it a firm bearing and a neat appearance.

MODEL C Furnished with Cast, Wrought One Piece, or Glass Knobs

This mounting is the same as Model B shown above, except that adjustment can be had from both sides by means of the steel set screws. This method is usually used on interior doors, especially with glass knobs, as the adjustment available from one side with glass knobs is not usually sufficient. Adjustable for doors from 1% to 2% inches thick, Other thicknesses to order.

"STANDARD" MOUNTING Furnished with Cast, Wrought, Jet, or Porcelain Knobs

Standard

This is the common form of knob mounting, generally known as "standard." Both knobs are fastened to the spindle by means of side knob screws. The spindle is tapped at several points thus allowing the knob to be set out or in as required. The washers taking up any end movement that may exist. Adjustable for doors from 1% to 2% inches thick. Other thicknesses to order. The shank is 1 - -inch in diameter.
