John Mark, the cousin of St. Barnabas (Col. 4.10), a Jew, set out with St. Barnabas and St. Paul on their first missionary journey, but for reasons which failed to satisfy St. Paul turned back (Acts 12.25, 13.5, 13, 15.37f.).
