Dragon Legends

A

s guests enter the Creation Museum and begin making their way through the portico, they are introduced to the Dragon

Legends exhibit. This colorful exhibit full of beautiful artwork and replicas of various artifacts highlights a collection of dragon legends from around the globe. Through this exhibit, guests discover fascinating stories of dragons and dragon slayers such as Beowulf and St. George. Tales of this kind have been found among ancient cultures on every continent except Antarctica. 10

A variety of dinosaurs can be spotted in the main hall. A colorful Dilophosaurus and a massive, 40-foot-long, animatronic sauropod overlook the vast space. Two juvenile tyrannosaurs are displayed near two child figures, reminding visitors that, according to the Bible, man and dinosaur lived at the same time. n this high-tech auditorium, nearly two hundred guests at a time can experience a memorable—and surprising—4D

show. Vibrating seats, strobe lights, and blasts of air combine to create an experience which engages the senses to present biblical truth in a dynamic way. It is not uncommon to hear a mixture of laughter and delighted screams during a show. The theater also hosts speaker presentations when Legacy Hall is being used for other purposes.

In Six Days In 2017, Genesis: Paradise Lost played in theaters across the country, dazzling audiences with its spectacular 3D special effects and allowing them to witness what it might have been like to see God create the world in six days. A condensed version of this 3D film, titled In Six Days, is presented with additional practical effects in the 4D Special Effects Theater.

he Stargazer Planetarium features a 30,000-lumen, laser digital projection

system which provides a full-color, 4096 x 4096–pixel image. Sit back and be amazed during your virtual tour of the universe as vivid cosmic images are displayed on a 30-foot-diameter hemispherical dome. The Created Cosmos takes us from the earth to Orion’s Belt, past several extrasolar planets, into a globular star cluster, and then beyond the Milky Way to the extreme limit of the known universe. Twenty-five feet tall and fifty feet wide at the top, this tree serves as a monumental reminder of what was lost when Adam and Eve chose sin over God’s commands and what can be regained through God’s promise of salvation.

Methuselah’s long life overlapped portions of both Adam and Noah’s lifetimes. This means Methuselah would have likely met Noah, who was his grandson, and could have possibly met Adam as well. A chart displayed in this exhibit provides more information about the lifespans of the pre-Flood patriarchs. Methuselah’s life also boasts a connection with the Catastrophe that guests will learn about in the following exhibits. According to the information provided in Genesis 5–7, Methuselah died the very same year that the Flood began. 53

his space introduces visitors to the third of the 7 C’s: Catastrophe.

Building the Ark would have been an enormous task. The full-scale cross section of the Ark featured in this space represents only 1 percent of the actual Ark. This information combined with the opportunity to experience the scale of the Ark firsthand gives guests the proper perspective regarding the enormity of Noah’s task. This exhibit also reveals some of the construction techniques, tools, and skills that may have been used to construct a vessel according to God’s specifications that would survive the worldwide Flood. As visitors enter the room, they will overhear conversations between different lifelike figures, including Noah and some of the workers helping him build the Ark. Two women can be seen in the background making baskets. Information about the size of the Ark (300 cubits x 50 cubits x 30 cubits), the length of a cubit, and shipbuilding techniques can be viewed on signage. A workbench and a variety of tools and models are also displayed in the room.

Ebenezer the Allosaurus

L

ocated in the middle of the Flood Geology room is a stunning specimen of one of the ancient world’s fiercest predators—

the Allosaurus fragilis. This dinosaur skeleton features one of the best-preserved Allosaurus skulls ever discovered. The spectacular fossil, dubbed Ebenezer (which is translated as “stone of help” in 1 Samuel 7:12), is surrounded by teaching points about dinosaurs. A monitor displays which parts of Ebenezer are genuine fossils and which were molded from resin based on other allosaur specimens. The allosaur was a large theropod dinosaur. The museum’s dinosaur probably stood 10 feet high and was 30 feet long. It is one of a number of Allosaurus fossils uncovered in the Morrison Formation of North America. Amazingly, more than half its bones were recovered—the skull even has 53 teeth still in place. When the Creation Museum acquired this specimen, Ken Ham said, “[This skeleton] fulfills a dream I’ve had for quite some time. For decades I’ve walked through many leading secular museums, like the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and have seen their impressive dinosaur skeletons, but they were used for evolution. Now we have one of that class for our museum.” 63

Approximately 24 dinosaurs, 4 of which are animatronic, are displayed throughout the Creation Museum. Based on fossil evidence, biblical creationist researchers estimate that there were 60–85 kinds of dinosaurs represented on the Ark during the global Food. This exhibit highlights some of the most popular examples. While some aspects of the dinosaurs and other creatures featured throughout the museum can be clearly explained by fossil specimens, other aspects—such as color and behavior — remain a mystery, leaving paleoartists to make educated guesses based on environmental clues and precedents set by other members of the animal kingdom.
