its reformation, and call on Him fearing and hoping Surely the mercy of Allah is nigh to those who do goods (to others)". Chapter 17, The Israelites: Verse 110-say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon the Beneficent whichever you call upon, He has the best names". Chapter 40, The Believer: Verse 14- "Therefore call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, though the unbelievers are averse"; Verse 60- "And your lord says: Call upon me, I will answer you surely those who disdain worshiping Me, will enter hell, disgraced. Also Allah (The Most High) says in Hadith Qhodsi that: "My servant continues drawing near Me through voluntary, optional and extra acts of worship (such as supplication) until I love him and when I love him, I am the hearing through which he hears, the sight through which he grasps, etc. The Holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says that "supplication is the weapon of the believers, the pillar of religion, and the light of the heaven and the earth. The Holy Prophet and his divinely appointed descendants - The Twelve Holy Imams have given us numerous supplications and laid great emphasis on

THE IMPORTANCE OF DUA AND JAWSHAN SUPPLICATION There are many verses in the Holy Qur’an that Allah (the Magnificent) refers to supplication for the edification of the Believers. Let us read a few of these verses: Chapter 2, The Cow: Verse 186-" And when my servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he calls on Me. So they should answer My call and believe in Me that they May walk in the right way". Chapter 7, The Elevated Places: Verses 55 and 56- "Call on your Lord humbly and secretly Surely He does not love those who exceed the limits. And do not make mischief in the earth after

the recitation of these supplications reflected by their pronouncements: "Supplication is the best form of the worship and remembrance of Allah". "Supplication is the most likable deed on earth that is offered to Allah". "Supplication wards off disasters, unpleasant happenings, and evil forebodings". "Supplication is the remedy for all maladies". Imam Ali-Ibn-Al-Hussain (A.S.) says: "O Lord! You have given supplication the name of worship. You have warned those persons who are too proud for worship; you will send them to hell in abject disgrace. The Jawshan Supplication (Dua) has come down from The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) via Imam Zain-Al-Abidin (AS) to us. The meaning of Jawshan is “shield” in Persian which is reflecting the names of Allah and his signs. "Since in this supplication, there is a collection of Allah’s Names, Attributes, His wonderful Miracles, it is named “The Jawshan Supplication".
