BASIC DOWSING TUTORIAL Dowsing is the name given to the autonomous direct connection between your subconscious mind and the muscles of your hands. It is usually extremely difficult to extract information from your subconscious but with the use of dowsing you can, in certain instances, extract the information required by actually bypassing the interfering conscious mind. Sometimes with an amazing degree of accuracy. The process has been around for many thousands of years and there are various professional dowsers who make a good living out of it. An example of this are the water dowsers in Australia who locate the correct spot to dig for water. In fact water drilling companies will not start a drilling operation unless the correct spots have been previously identified by a recognized dowser. I had a rather unusual and enlightening experience happen while I was taking a week’s holiday at a luxurious caravan park in Queensland (Australia) some years ago. There was an older couple staying there also and while talking to them around the pool discovered that the husband was a retired ship’s captain from the UK. They had come out to Australia and had contracted to purchase a small 30 acre farm about 15 miles from the caravan park. They were a friendly couple but the husband was obviously a gruff, no-nonsense type of individual, which I guess was what you’d expect in a senior ship captain. They invited me to come and take a look at the

farm as they found that I was heavily involved in real estate transactions at the time. We arrived out there the next morning and the captain mentioned that the land was short of water bores as it only had one and really needed two more. He told me that he was going to track down a local drilling company to sort this problem out. I mentioned that he would probably have to bring in a dowser to identify the correct spots to drill. At that point he gave me a funny look and asked if I was serious. He had heard of dowsing but apparently didn’t believe a word of it! A couple of days later he approached my caravan and told me that both drilling companies he had approached insisted he have a dowser report first. They had given him the contact details of two professional dowsers in the area. I told him he would get nowhere without these reports. Eventually he contacted one of these people and the dowser agreed to meet him at the farm the next morning at 10am. I asked if I could come along and watch and he was most agreeable to this. The dowser (a real Aussie “bushy” wearing two mismatching sandals) stomped all over the land with his LRods and eventually hammered a couple of white pegs into the ground at two separate spots. He then sat down and wrote a brief report. Each spot had details of the depth of the water, the potability (purity) and the flow rate with a standard pump. The captain very definitely had a strange look on his face as he paid the dowser. I could tell that he thought it was wasted money. A couple of days later the drilling company arrived and proceeded to sink the bores at the white pegs. The very next day they had water flowing from each. The dowser had given the correct depth and water flow rate and a sample of the water was tested for potability. Once again the dowser was correct. The last I saw of the captain before my holiday finished was one very dazed individual wondering if the universe in Australia wasn’t, in fact, upside down! I hadn’t actually seen a professional dowser in operation before so I was quite fascinated. Many years later I used exactly the same process to find opal deposits in the South Australian opal mining area of Coober Pedy, with considerable success. By that point I had learnt to use the dowsing process quite effectively. In fact my Dad was an expert dowser so my belief system was already in place.

Dowsing mechanisms The two most common mechanical dowsing aids are the pendulum and the “L Rods.” There are other aids but some are difficult to use. Later on I will tell you about “deviceless” dowsing where you don’t need an aid at all! This is very useful at a roulette table where you can sometimes predict quite accurately whether a red or black will fall next. The pendulum is basically any small weight suspended from a thin piece of string. I often use a metal paper clip suspended from a piece of cotton about six inches long. L-Rods can be constructed quickly and simply from a pair of metal clothes hangers. You cut the metal so that it ends up in an “L” shape as shown below. The actual size is not critical and the measurements below are shown only as a guide.

To use a pendulum you simply hold it lightly between your thumb and forefinger. Hold it steady and ask a simple question. I test my pendulum before using it by asking….. “Is my name James?” For a “YES” answer it starts to rotate in an anticlockwise direction. This is the first test you must do. Ascertain which way it is going to orbit for a “YES” answer. This response normally stays with you for the rest of your life. You may find that your YES answer causes the pendulum to rotate in a clockwise direction. It doesn’t matter which way it rotates……providing it rotates! The use of L-Rods requires a different technique.

Stand with your arms at your sides but bent at the elbow so the rods are facing out in front of you. Make sure you don’t grip the rods tightly otherwise they won’t move. In fact you can place a couple of loose fitting plastic sleeves over this part of the rods so that while you are gripping the sleeves the rods can move freely inside them. I have seen plastic drinking straws used for this purpose and they seem to work perfectly. The angle of your hands should be such that the rods face out in front of you maintaining their separation. You can experiment by angling your hands slightly so that the rods either cross over or move further apart. Obviously if the rods don’t move then you are holding them too tightly. Ask the Rods to give you a yes by saying …. “Is my name XXXXX?” In my case they move towards each other but they may do the opposite for you. If they don’t respond the first time keep practicing until they do. Most beginners get them working eventually but sometimes it can take a few days of intermittent practice. Once you get the Rods working you can try a simple exercise like tracing the water pipes in your yard. Picture in your mind a water pipe with dripping water and while holding the Rods in front walk across your yard until the Rods suddenly close up or move apart. Tell the Rods initially that you want to locate the water pipes. If this works out you can follow the course of the underground water pipe and if it changes direction both Rods will swing together in the new direction. It may take a little time to get this working properly but if you can use the normal suspended pendulum effectively then the use of the Rods should follow. Pic below of how to hold a pendulum. For the purpose of clarity I have used a large cigarette lighter and a wide ribbon. If you wish to use a cig lighter you only need to attach a thin thread to it.

There is one very important point about setting up properly for dowsing which most dowsing books don’t mention. You have to treat the dowsing mechanism as if you were a private pilot about to go for a flight. Before taking off you strap yourself in and go through all the preflight checks, such as flap position, throttle position, brakes locked on, controls full and free movement, etc. etc. You need to do exactly the same with your dowsing device so that you know it is working properly. Here is what you ask it: CAN I (ask about this subject?) MAY I AM I READY AM I TOO TIRED OR STRESSED

IS MY NAME (XXXXXXX) You might be surprised to find that occasionally the device gives you a negative answer in which case you try again an hour or so later. Assuming it gives positive answers to all five questions then you are ready to proceed. This pre-check information came from the old professional bushy dowser I mentioned earlier. He said that if he didn’t check it first his answers could be unreliable which would totally annoy the drilling companies and waste the client’s money. DEVICELESS DOWSING If you want to go a stage further my Australian Mindpower Research Foundation experimented with a way to receive Yes/No answers without using any form of mechanical aid. We figured that it was the thumb/forefinger muscle that was causing the pendulum to swing and wondered if we couldn’t trigger this off by itself. We eventually achieved stunning success and I fully covered this subject in my mindpower book…..BEYOND BELIEF available in hardcover and Kindle at Amazon. We called this the “Mental Pendulum.” Once we had this working we tried it on the roulette tables at the local casino by trying to predict whether a red or black would fall next. The initial accuracy was around 70% correct. Obviously you can’t use L-Rods or a pendulum in a casino and we did this while standing there with our hands in our pockets. We also used it to decode dreams immediately upon awakening while the memory of the dream was still fresh for 30 seconds or so, with quite spectacular results. If you have trouble getting your dowsing device to work initially simply keep at it. Maybe try again the next day. Eventually most individuals can get results providing they don’t give up on it. The dowsing mechanism is a direct interaction with your subconscious and your conscious mind does not appear to like this and will try to discourage you.

SYNCHRONICITY And how to become aware of it. Some years ago I was driving an extended distance on one of the Queensland (Australia) back roads and as it was getting on to noon I was looking out for a small town with a sandwich shop. Eventually I drove in to one and parked in front of a bakery style shop that looked as though it might have sandwiches. I bought a pack of these and wandered back outside. My intention was to eat while driving as I had a deadline. As I walked to my car I noticed a second-hand bookshop directly across the road so figured I might as well spend a few minutes to see if they had anything of interest. I was browsing through a few books when I accidently backed into the bookshelf behind me and a few books fell of the top shelf onto the floor. As I picked them up I simply could not believe my eyes. One of the books was “Psychic Discoveries behind the Iron Curtain.” I had been actively trying to buy this book for over 2 years and had spent a massive amount of time trying to track down a copy. It was also in mint condition. I was somewhat astounded and recognized immediately that synchronicity had played its part. And the really strange part was that I had a choice of routes I could have taken on this particular journey but for some reason took one that involved more back roads but I had figured that the scenery might be better. That is one of the most synchronistic events I have experienced in my long life. There have been plenty of others but this one stands out. Some years before I had become aware of these strange coincidental events impacting my life and had trained myself to pay serious attention to them. The more I paid attention the more events I noticed. Some were very nebulous while others were clearly a message from my subconscious. My wife, who is a highly psychic Vanuatu woman, had a similar impacty synchronistic event happen to her last year. She still talks about it. We had travelled from Vanuatu to Australia and had ended up in a motel at Tweed Heads which is about 2 hours drive below Brisbane. We had gone out to buy some KFC food and I was just about to enter the motel driveway.

My wife suddenly called out “Stop.” She got out of the car and said she wanted to go to the bottle shop a hundred meters down the road. I told her that was fine but to hurry otherwise the food would get cold. I also remembered that she had several bottles of wine in the fridge so wondered what she wanted to buy. Ten minutes later she arrived back at the motel with an old girlfriend she used to know well in Vanuatu. This girl had also felt the urge to call into the bottle shop. Apparently she was on holiday with her husband and they had booked into a motel just around the corner from us. They were 1000 miles from home while we were around 1800 miles from home. Both the girls were slightly stunned at this “chance” meeting. Synchronicity at work once again. In this particular case I suspect my wife’s strong natural psychic abilities helped out as she had always been very close to this particular friend. Synchronistic events tend to reveal an underlying pattern, which is part of a larger unidentified event. Carl Jung coined the word to describe what he called "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." Jung described synchronicity as an "acausal connecting principle", and a “meaningful coincidence.” Synchronistic events are regarded as signs and those who are aware consciously use them to make decisions in life. They can often give you a sense of direction to take to possibly avoid a disastrous situation. These days I pay close attention when I notice a series of apparently unconnected events that appear to exhibit a common purpose. Individuals appear to attract these events into their lives and the events appear to be personal and relate to that individual only. It is almost as if these events originate in an unseen dimension and manifest themselves as assorted bits and pieces in our dimension. One of the strange events I have noticed since a child is that money always manifests itself when I seriously need it. This has happened through the entire 50 years of my life since I was small. During periods when I was living by myself and suddenly developed that “lonely” feeling a suitable female partner usually arrived on the scene unexpectedly. The strange thing is that I’ve always “known” that loneliness and money worries would never be a major problem in my life and since

I’ve made myself consciously aware of these meaningful happenings life has definitely become easier. These events can also appear in the form of dreams as well as real-life happenings. So if you have a dream or two which seem to portray meaningful events pay attention to the message, then watch for associated events in your daily life. Sometimes you will notice a batch of recurring numbers which you consider to be a strange coincidence. They pop up everywhere – the same numbers! Watch for related events that might help you decode this. Ask yourself...... “What do these numbers mean to me?” The point is your subconscious mind has access to all current, past and future events but you normally cannot tap into them. Synchronicity appears to be your subconscious giving you a directional message as it is arranging these events to draw your attention. If you ignore such coincidences (as most people do) then you might just be doing yourself a serious disservice. There is some thought that you create the reality you require on a different level, maybe in the dream state. Then this requirement starts to appear as isolated synchronistic events and shortly manifests itself completely. I have had a vast number of these experiences like this in my life and during one of my early seminars in Australia we devoted a whole morning to this type of event. Almost all of the 40 odd participants were aware of these events and some of their stories were quite startling. I was impressed to note that at least half the class were aware of such events and actively searched for answers. The human mind is capable of generating its own reality by seriously focussing on what it is you really want. If this is done with absolute intent and strong focus the required event always almost manifests itself.....eventually. But one thing is for certain....the stronger the desire, focus and emotional intent, the quicker it happens. The secret appears to be in the emotional component fed into the future event. Synchronistic events tend to guide you in the right direction......providing you pay serious attention to them.

Often when you require specific knowledge a person will arrive out of the blue to impart this knowledge. Naturally you consider this as an “amazing coincidence” but it is actually much deeper than that. In this situation act immediately on the knowledge because that is why it was given to you. A lot of people don’t act and they may well lose a serious advantage in life. I guess many of us have had the weird experience of always being able to find a car parking spot, no matter how busy the area is. I used to confound my friends by doing this when we drove in Wellington City to visit our favorite restaurant. Invariably I would find a parking slot whereas my friends would have to park several blocks away. I have even struck synchronicity in a gambling environment. I was playing a batch of slot machines in an Australian casino one morning. This was a bank of 12 identical high value machines and no matter which one I played I noticed the symbol “J” (for Jack) appearing consistently on each and every machine. This “J” would appear 3-4 times in a scattered position which gave no prize money but was so unusual I went and bought another $100 worth of coins to see what would happen. I was pleasantly surprised to see 5 “J’s” in a row come up on one machine which gave me a $500 payout. And to my total amazement 3 other machines did exactly the same thing over the next 15 minutes. I ended up with $2000 for a total expenditure of around $170. I considered this to be a true synchronistic event as all the indications were there that I should pursue prize money. Many players would not have thought anything about it and walked away. After this I became fully conscious of these related coincidental events and it has enabled me to win some reasonable jackpots merely by watching for similar strange occurrences on slot machines. My psychic wife tells me that the machines are giving me a message! So when the machines start acting in a “strange” manner I pay serious attention. I have heard many other slot players over the years say exactly the same thing. That is, if a machine acts in a strange manner they stick with it for a while. Synchronicity is really just a series of vaguely related coincidences. We are all aware when coincidences happen but most of us have not carried this line of thinking a stage further to search for a synchronistic pattern. And this is what this manuscript is all about.

CHANCE OR SYNCHRONICITY? Mathematician Warren Weaver, in his book, Lady Luck: The Theory of Probability, recounts a fascinating tale of coincidence that stretch our ideas of chance and coincidence to the breaking point. The story originally appeared in Life magazine. Weaver writes: All fifteen members of a church choir in Beatrice, Nebraska, due at practice at 7:20, were late on the evening of March 1, 1950. The minister and his wife and daughter had one reason (his wife delayed to iron the daughter’s dress) one girl waited to finish a geometry problem; one couldn’t start her car; two lingered to hear the end of an especially exciting radio program; one mother and daughter were late because the mother had to call the daughter twice to wake her from a nap; and so on. The reasons seemed rather ordinary. But there were ten separate and quite unconnected reasons for the lateness of the fifteen persons. It was rather fortunate that none of the fifteen arrived on time at 7:20, for at 7:25 the church building was destroyed in an explosion. The members of the choir, Life reported, wondered if their delay was “an act of God.” Weaver calculates the staggering odds against chance for this uncanny event as about one chance in a million. This whole event was really taking coincidence to the extreme. In The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche, Jung describes how, during his research into the phenomenon of the collective unconscious, he began to observe coincidences that were connected in such a meaningful way that their occurrence seemed to defy the calculations of probability. He provided numerous examples culled from his own psychiatric case-studies, many now legendary. Here is what he had to say……. “A young woman I was treating had, at a critical moment, a dream in which she was given a golden scarab. While she was telling me this dream I sat with my back to the closed window. Suddenly I heard a noise behind me, like a gentle tapping. I turned round and saw a flying insect knocking against the window-pane from outside. I opened the window and caught the creature in the air as it flew in. It was the nearest analogy to the golden scarab that one finds in our latitudes, a scarabaeid beetle, the common

rose-chafer which contrary to its usual habits had evidently felt an urge to get into a dark room at this particular moment. I must admit that nothing like it ever happened to me before or since, and that the dream of the patient has remained unique in my experience.” Just as Einstein proved that energy and matter are interchangeable it is now thought that consciousness can be added to this equation. It is felt by some that energy and matter evolve from an underlying “sea of consciousness”. So coincidental events which evolve into synchronicity can spring from this consciousness sea and manifest themselves as mental or physical events. I discovered a simple way to make myself aware of synchronistic events. Each night as I lay in bed just before sleep I would say to myself (10-20 times) ….. “I will become increasingly aware of synchronistic events and pay more and more attention to them.” The point here is that just before sleep you are usually in the alpha brain frequency state and are starting to experience a shift in consciousness which is semi-hypnotic in nature. This is the absolutely ideal time to give your subconscious suggestions. It took around 3 weeks before I started to seriously notice related coincidental happenings. Some of them were very vague but thanks to the “sleep” training I was able to extract a message from them. This going to sleep stage is wasted time anyway so you may as well make use of it. You can actually do the same exercise as you come awake in the morning. During this brief period you are in the same semi-hypnotic state and you can give yourself the suggestion 3-4 times before you fully wake up and become alert. This will basically reinforce the same suggestions from the night before. WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR? I have told the following story before but as it appears to be a combination of a psychokinetic event, a synchronistic one and materialization I’ll repeat it briefly. It had a major impact on me:

I was in the Melbourne casino booked into one of the rooms above the casino. I had been playing the slots for a while in the early morning and wasn’t having much luck so I decided to go up to my room and have a cup of coffee and a shower. I changed my shirt and trousers and returned to the casino. One of the high denomination machines started to give me strange results as I noticed unusual patterns appearing. I sat down and focused on this machine and it started to give me small wins. At that point I decided to light one of my small cigars and reached into my pocket for my cigarette lighter. To my annoyance I remembered that I had left it in my other trousers and there were no other smokers in the vicinity so I couldn’t get a light. I didn’t want to leave the machine and search for a shop that sold matches or lighters as the casino was a rather large one and I didn’t know where the shops were located. So I sat there thoroughly annoyed with myself and decided to play on anyway. As I put my hand in the top of the coin bucket to grab a few coins I felt something solid. I looked down and to my complete and utter surprise found a small black cigarette lighter sitting on top of the coins. I had absolutely no idea where it came from. I never buy these small lady-style lighters as they get lost in my pocket and most certainly never buy a black one, always an easy-to-see white or red one. I flicked it and it worked! I sat there with a lit cigar in my mouth puzzling over the whole thing and right at that point noticed that the slot machine became much more “friendly.” It kept paying and about 10 minutes later suddenly gave a jackpot of $5000. At that point my Chinese girlfriend arrived and I told her what happened. She said that she wasn’t surprised as I was always “materializing” things. And that was something I had never paid attention to before. It appears that a bunch of synchronistic events caused me to stay on that particular machine until it won. Now the purpose of telling you this story is to point out that you should watch for a series of “coincidental” events and see where they lead you. They are, in effect, giving you a message. So if during the course of your day you notice a few strange or unusual things happening pay serious attention because they may be leading you somewhere. The more you practice at becoming aware the more you will notice things that would have escaped you in the past.

Self-Hypnosis Before Alpha and Theta states were discovered self hypnosis was the tried and proven method of affecting the subconscious mind. Some people find it easier to use and learn than alpha/theta meditation techniques. How effective is self-hypnosis? Let me give you an example based on my own life when I was a 16 year old schoolboy. I would definitely have had to have been the shyest kid in the school. If a girl talked to me I became totally tongue-tied and often turned red with embarrassment. There was this one particular 16 year old girl in my class who obviously seriously liked me. One afternoon right after school finished I went out to the bike rack to collect my pushbike for the ride home. This girl was waiting for me. Then she said something that turned me dead red with embarrassment. She said .... “Hullo Jim.” I muttered something and hopped on my bike and pedalled furiously away.

Three years later at the age of nineteen I was running hypnotic stage shows around the Wellington area of New Zealand, hypnotising a dozen people on stage at a time and fully in control of the situation. How was this massive turnaround possible? Simple! I had discovered self-hypnosis which totally and completely changed my shy personality. I also discovered a strange thing. When I had all these people sitting hypnotized in a semi-circle of chairs I would think to myself...... “OK, I’ll now get them all to stand up.” To my initial total astonishment several of them usually stood up........ before I had issued the verbal command. I figured I was using projective mental hypnosis and it was this single experience that led me on in later life to start a mind-power research foundation to try and find some answers. So how can you learn self-hypnosis and change your life to become anyone you wish? Hopefully you’ll find the answers as you read on. With Alpha, Theta and Delta mind states you are able to fire your requirements out into the universe to be fulfilled eventually and manifested as material possessions and events. THE PROCESS FOR LEARNING SELF-HYPNOSIS First and foremost you must do your practice at a time when you are least likely to be disturbed by others. I used to do this first thing in the morning before my parents woke up. At that point I was reasonably alert and could focus clearly on what I was doing. A very important point is to NOT tell others what you are doing as you will almost certainly receive negative input and there are those who believe that

any form of hypnosis is the “Devils Work.” Keep your practice private. No one will know about it unless you tell them. The first step is to get your body and mind relaxed. You make yourself comfortable. The best way I personally found to bring myself down to a hypnotic state was to focus on my breathing. That is I made myself aware of each and every breath I took. As I breathed out I would say to myself.... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take.” The advantage of using this methodology is that it also gives your mind something active to focus on so you are less likely to become distracted from outside noises or disturbances. You can do count-downs from one hundred to one as many self-hypnosis courses teach but I never personally found that method very effective. What I found was that after a week of initially doing this breathing focus method I could suddenly feel my muscles start to relax each time I started the process. In fact after 3 weeks I would drop almost immediately into a light trance state and I could almost “hear” my leg, neck and face muscles “letting go.” Quite a strange feeling and tremendously satisfying. You can if you wish work on each separate part of your body. So on your next breath out you say to yourself.... “My legs are relaxing..... My legs are relaxing.” Then you might work on your face and eye muscles following the same process. In fact when I start this process I say to myself....... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take and my face and eye muscles are becoming increasingly relaxed.” The reason I do this is that I have noticed that the eyes are the hardest to get relaxed. Once you stop your eye muscles twitching you are nearly there. Each time I exhaled I focussed on it. As I progress with my breathing method I start adding the following..... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take and my eyes are becoming tireder and tireder.” The whole idea of the method is to make your eyes feel tired and relaxed which puts you into the semi-sleep state. This is really the whole basis of hypnosis. Control the eyes..... and control of the body will follow. As I have no idea what your personal requirements are I suggest you follow the patter above and more or less make it up to suit yourself. The big thing

is to focus on your breathing and tell yourself you are becoming sleepier and sleepier and that your muscles are becoming more relaxed with every breath you take. The next stage is to add an awareness command which is fairly vital yet I notice that other self-hypnosis techniques seldom mention it. Here it is “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take but I will remain consciously aware and in control during this exercise.” At this point I merely keep repeating the above command until I feel I am ready to make self-hypnotic suggestions. I sometimes become aware of a slight shift in consciousness or a strange mental feeling. Both of these indicate a good hypnotic state but initially you probably won’t notice anything like this. If you’re going to practice this hypnosis at night when you are in bed may I suggest that you go to bed maybe 30 minutes earlier than usual so you aren’t so tired. This will help you retain focus. Also I found it really helpful to have a quick warm shower just before bed. This tends to relax the muscles and removes irritants from the skin that might otherwise cause “itchy” distractions. I also used to have a small glass of warm milk which helps the stomach muscles to relax. If your feet and stomach are happy and you can persuade your eyes to relax then you are half way there! Once I felt that I was deep enough to start the auto-suggestions I would commence my pre-planned patter. Here is the suggestion I used when I was 16 years old......word for word: ...... “I will lose my shyness quickly and become extremely confident in mixed company. I will refuse to be intimidated and speak my mind where appropriate.” I repeated the above message over and over as long as I could. This is the basic message I repeated for around 6 weeks before I started to notice an improvement in myself. I was able to get into a conversation with the girl in my class who liked me and within 3 months was dating her regularly. The only problem here was that she let me know via very strong

hints that she wanted to lose her virginity but at this point all that stuff was totally beyond me. After 6 months of this regular (4-5 times a week) auto-suggestion I became aware that I was becoming a different person. Even my parents commented on it. I overheard my dad say.... “He is certainly maturing rapidly.” And that is how it all worked for me. I then set out to learn ordinary hypnosis and ended up running hypnotic stage shows. They were a great money earner for a couple of years but I eventually lost interest as I was immersed in the world of electronics and I felt that was where my future lay. Now let us consider some of the ideas and concepts that might make this process easier and more effective: The relaxation and deepening procedures described above increase your suggestibility as you are steadily bypassing your conscious mind and attempting to deal with your subconscious only. All the changes you require will happen via your subconscious.

Recap of procedure – Initially start with..... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take.” Then progress on to ...... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take..... and my face and eye muscles are becoming increasingly relaxed.” Followed by........ ..... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take and my eyes are becoming tireder and tireder.” And finally....... “I am relaxing more and more with each breath I take and I will remain consciously aware and in control during this exercise.”

You can vary the wording of the above to suit your requirements. You might, for example, decide to focus on specific muscle groups. The whole process should last perhaps 15 minutes but if you find that you tend to fall asleep or otherwise lose focus you can record your message onto a tape machine and play it back via earphones. After you have practiced the above induction process for a week or so you can then start adding the affirmation you want. Learn this induction process only, for the first week. Then when you feel you are ready start adding the specific hypnotic message you wish to implant. So when you are in the semi-hypnotic state you start repeating over and over the specific message you wish to implant in your subconscious. You could also add this specific message to your tape if you wish. TERMINATION OF PROCEDURE. If you are doing this at night in bed then once you have finished you can simply drift off to sleep. But if you are doing it during normal waking hours you need to give yourself a wake-up suggestion otherwise you might feel excessively drowsy. When you are ready to come fully awake say to yourself...... “I will wake up fully at the count of three feeling great. One....I am starting to wake up.......Two....I am becoming more alert.........Three........Now fully awake....Now fully awake.” This simple procedure should solve any drowsiness problems and you will probably wake up feeling quite good....... because that is what you have suggested. TYPES OF SUGGESTIONS YOU CAN USE

Once you reach a relaxed hypnotic state using the method outlined above you can start on self-improvement suggestions. Here are some ideas: Improving self confidence ..... “I will become increasingly more confident and develop great faith in my abilities. Every time I eat a meal this suggestion will reinforce itself.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.) Giving up smoking ........ “I will gradually lose interest in smoking and often forget to buy cigarettes. I realize that they are bad for my health. Every time I smoke this suggestion will reinforce itself.” You will repeat this 10-20 times each session. Improving sleep patterns ....... “I will have a good night’s sleep every night and wake up feeling refreshed and alert. Every time I have a drink this suggestion will reinforce itself.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.) Improving Health ....... “My body is slowly regaining equilibrium and my health is improving daily. Every time I think about my health this suggestion will reinforce itself.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.) Reducing alcohol consumption ......... “I will drink less and less alcohol and feel healthier and more alert as time progresses. Every time I consume alcohol this suggestion will reinforce itself.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.) Sitting Exams ...... “When I go into the room to sit my exam I will feel relaxed and confident. I will easily recall the answers to the exam questions.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.)

Excess worry about a problem ...... “I fully realise that all problems are solved in time. I will cease worrying unduly about my problem (name the specific problem) as I know it will be solved. Each time I think about this problem this suggestion will reinforce itself.” (You will repeat this 10-20 times each session.) By now you will have an idea of the wording required to generate these self-improvement suggestions. You can apply the above concepts to any specific change you require in your life. That is, you should now be able to generate a suggestion to suit your circumstances. Self Hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool and you would normally expect to notice positive results within a week or two.
