[There are many photographs of this iconic artwork floating out there in cyberspace because it’s truly an eye-catcher, (pun intended). Although, I’m a slow one, because, even after standing next to this wall for nearly 2 months, I didn’t notice it, until I started to ponder on what image to use that’d best represent the title of this book; Cheltenham Graffiti Eyes. One day while on break for my Wednesday morning MA Photography class, we came eye to eye, and it felt Divinely Magical. The only issue was just the fact that I had a

cyclops image, not to worry, with some graphic design skills and online ingenuity, the one eye was converted to two eyes.]

It’s very much like what is stolen from indigenous natives then placed in a constructed neo-euorpean museum with high security for the stolen loots from indigenous lands. The neoRomans did the same thing when they built the Parthenon then invaded indigenous native land stole their icons of deities then placed them in the Parthenon. On our publishing growth, it’s truly a literary joy to bring to you our workbook # 31. It’s a nostalgic work of art about digital abstract graffiti stylization relating to graphic line arts. As such, this collectible literary art is a rare book of historic nature, whereby this workbook demonstrates an innovative approach regarding extrapolative creative writings expressing the passion of storytelling while accompanied by photographic images and abstract digital graphic arts. This special graffiti-style art was created back in the 20th Century and now is being released with a new sense of purpose and computer colorization effects. 

Now we at L-MUUR Press are happily sharing these visual treasures with you the readers & the rest of the world. Do enjoy the view! In addition to the old graphic graffiti-style artworks, the page breaker photographic images are also from the same period. These images share a visual literacy on a small socially emotional aspect of the city that’s called New York. They were photographed around 1994, digitally manipulated, and then use a colour wax printer to present a final printed version which was later scanned to get this finished image that’s now presented in this amazing publication. Cheltenham Graffiti Eyes is the inspiration to share another perspective on the perception of graffiti stylization of artistic intent using the expanding new media. 

Around the world, since the revolution of hip-hop music, there have been many publications on graffiti street arts, nevertheless, this printed matter on the subject comes at a time when it’s most needed in delivering a clear statement on the next level towards reaching a wider audience of art lovers. Some people may not have the time to see any of these artworks, thus it’ll be the first time they’re viewing these sensational showpieces & it may inspire some individuals to make a journey for themselves in seeing these marvelous feats of artistry. Graffiti Writing & Drawings on the Walls! [It’s truly an established pattern in human’s social living, and as such, everywhere one would go there are graffiti, on a wall. In fact, graffiti naturally seems to be a common trend all over the world and while living in New York City, for the many clubs I worked in being a nightclub photographer, there was never a bathroom that I entered which didn’t have some graffiti of drawings or writings. Those often fest the eyes & mind with derogatory phrases & symbols. It’s the same no matter the different countries I have traveled to, likewise, graffiti is written in all the many languages I have encounter. It was around the year1980 when I first became conscious of political graffiti. Even now, I can still remember those wording on their messaging propaganda.

“It’s Manley’s Fault!” It stated those words of discontent towards a governing leader and there was a red X over the acronym PNP, which stands for the People’s National Party, which was one of the two rival political parties on the island. In America, the graffiti in the ghetto were pure artistic excellent & often were done whereby the artist(s) had no formal art education. It was these artworks & artists that’d later slowly changed the paradigm on the perceptions of graffiti street art. The music that influenced the dazzling graffiti-style painting by the early graffiti street artists of NYC became mainstream under the genre of hip-hop and rapping music and as they spread around the world, so too was the stylization of bright colors in the modern graffiti.

Indigenous Moors and even those who were later classified to be black people they’re the originator of graffiti art, & for many years wherever we called homes, our markings of graffiti art have been left behind for those to come. In ancient times, in the land of Kmt now called Egypt, when the Greeks came, they saw our graffiti artworks on the walls and some got defamed out of hateful envy. Then when the Romans came, they also did the same, likewise the invading, Germans, British & French they all did the same defaming the originators. Graffiti arts of indigenous people from Kmt were reclassified to be hieroglyphics after the invaders studied them form many years. While those who kept the mystery, teachings adhered to the calling of the Metu Neter.

Under the defaming of indigenous graffiti arts, numerous individuals belonging to those invading forces, they would get a substantial fame when they began to imitate what were already created years ago by the classified black people. Schwaller de Lubicz, Clement Roicchon & Alexandre Varille for 12 years and more their eyes and minds were locked on the amazing graffiti artworks left behind in the structure they have academically called the Temple in Man or the Temple of Man at Luxor Egypt. These monumental graffiti images aren’t seen by the victims of slavery to know their true origins as ancient artists. However, the invaders of mystic and scholars would use what they saw as an interpretation of art under the added wordage of sacred geometry. Graffiti writings and drawings on walls were refined even further, when ancient indigenous Moorish people created paper from the Cyperus papyrus plants, yet many were taught we contributed nothing to the world.]

What is Graffiti?

[In the 21st Century, it’s still a profound query, when one asks around the question on what is graffiti, then most people will answer vandalism, tagging & street art. Now, before continuing any further, let’s take a step back, into the ancient times under the precedents of the archeological term graffito. Most people around the world already know that my ancestors in Northeast Afrika, aka Egypt, aka Kmt, that the people living there were passionate about writing, drawings & paintings besides building wondrous monuments & amazing temples. Well just like our modern times, some artists back then would resort to the selfexpression that’d inspire generations of graffiti artists, from the Persians, the Minoans/Greeks, the Etruscans/Romans & even leading into the current era of artistic intent regarding graffiti/graffito tagging. The influence of Kmt also vastly extended into the areas of what is now modern-day Asia, because all the intellectual passion around the arts of creative visuals can be traced back to the origin of those indigenous induced carbon people as they expressed a primordial sense of belonging. In a much wider sense, throughout the history of art, when an artist or group of artists are accepted & is/are embraced by the governing principalities of their society, then the aesthetic releasing visions of their abstract creativity will be greatly appreciated, likewise evolve into various communal interpretations of cultural pleasurable sighting experiences on what’s graffiti arts. 

Under the purview of accepted & authorized street arts; besides those paintings on walls in the public spaces the determining umbrella of what is street arts covers a multitude of artistic aptitudes in the media range of music & performances street arts. Nonetheless, on the ceremony that’s celebrating 2 of the greatest inventions & discoveries from the ancient times, which would be paints & painting; a multitude of individuals are now embracing the social joy of painting by going to paint festivals. Although, some people may have conflicting emotions on what is publicly graffiti street arts, one thing they can all agree on, is the empirical fact, that graffiti artworks have amazingly transformed the surrounding urban landscapes. The parading expositions on what was once considered to be a stylization of artworks representing vandalism or illegal tagging are now the images with a positive social visual on the storytelling of the changing struggles & joys of our time.

From an American, a New Yorker’s perspective the graffiti street arts here in Cheltenham, they are far behind in comparison to what’s in the Bronx & Brooklyn. Over the last 15 to 20 years, the graffiti street art scenes have become a more common feature throughout the cities and towns of the UK and even the rest of Europe. Here is an important disclaimer; one unnamed artist stated, “Doing illegal graffiti is not worth it.” Yes indeed, graffiti tagging on other people's property is not the smart thing to do, especially in a society with CCTV monitoring the societal motions of the people! Now, under consideration for Cheltenham street arts, the NYC graffiti street arts are pale in comparison to modern Afrikan’s graffiti street arts. Being the source of human creativity, the painted layers and painted colors of Afrikan’s present-day graffiti street art scenes express a dynamic dimension of primal,

modern & futuristic patterns expressing the artistic will & the creative mind]

Introduction!

[In this very special visual chronicle about social creativity which was produced under the first UK’s Covid19 lockdown. The audience will be able to appreciate the virtual aesthetic on some of Prof’s original abstract graffiti style artworks, in addition to the featuring photography practice highlighting a NYC adventure some 25 year ago. They are unique stylization images presented here in this rare publication. This amazing body of literary artwork also entails 10 chapters, with each chapter having the primary pages of colorless & colorful abstractive graphic line arts. Each artwork was digitally rendered in an extraordinary graffiti theming pattern of fine arts & holds a retrospective sentimental value, especially for the visual literacy page-breaker  

The concentrating stoplight on prof’s abstract graffiti arts is the focus of this updated publicizing workbook on graffiti art. What will be seen in this revised publication are the images of visualizing graffiti abstract arts. These artworks were done years ago by the author, as such, some are the featuring images in other books by the author. What are presented here in this updated publication are the adoptions of new 21st century digital software and hardware to innovatively produce some refreshing stunning visuals of artistic expressions. In the old school musical term, these new presenting images came from digging in the crates. From storage, the old became new appearance of artful intent to share a message on the appreciation of graffiti style artworks.

Any images can be a graffiti artwork likewise some artist may use paintbrushes, spray cans & their hands to transfer & render their intent of visual depictions on a wall. Some artists may indeed have a notebook on the collection of images they have created or those that they’d like to expand further, whether on a wall or other materials like canvas, ceramic, glass, metal, or wood. While at the same time, some artist may use inspired moments to create a freestyle depicting an image of their desired or commissioned intent on a wall, or any of those above items of materials mentioned. In our current age of 2020, the way how we transfer our artful intents has changed, as such the notebooks of today are called iPad, computer tablets & mobile smartphones.

Often in the purchasing of such devices, the operational system, aka OS; allows the using artist to adopt applications of new yet old capabilities. For example, sketching a photograph with a download app to give it a new appearance or manipulating the colors, background, foregrounds, replacing & moving images around, changing the lighting and the settings. These dynamic abilities are just a few examples of the capabilities associating with modern image processing & rendering of the 21st Century, which are easily available to all contemporary seasoned artists with computer literate mentalities and aptitude of autodidactic frequencies. In this process, YouTube video tutorials are extremely helpful to one’s creative growth. With that’s been said. GVL: Graffiti Notes 1: [“Froggy was Here!” I was only 15 years old when I wrote that tagged message of my old childhood nickname on a wall. The location was Harcourt Road, Kingston, Jamaica. In 1996, I then went back to Jamaica from America for the first time in ten years and the name tag “Froggy was Here!” It was still there on the wall. Being an artistic weird individual, over the many long years since my childhood days to the present time frame, I’ve been called by many names, some names came with their negative connotations and some names came with a positive pleasurable jovial compassion of comradery. Whatever names that I may go by, or whatever names have placed

upon me, the being inside the shell that I call a body is nameless. This is why most times when I placed a poetic graffiti message on social media, I’d leave it nameless. De art is de word & de word is de art.]

[Ok, this one got a certain element that’s unforgettable: Females are crazy and to enter their world one must truly be insane. Nevertheless, we normal males are like moths to the flame in regards to the Divine power of the females. Enchanting and captivating and it began by watching the women them. I do rather these poetical terms of womb-man and wombmanity. When one genuinely starts to observe, then one will come to the natural astute conclusion; females are not equal; nothing greater-than can be equal, this is empirically sacred.]

GVL: Graffiti Notes 2: [The posting on the social media walls, whether it’s by texting, photograph, or drawing we are now living in the era of digital graffiti on social media. Yet some people would never consider that each time they make a posting of something on the social media platforms they called Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & others, that all their posting is contributing to the passionate ageless art form of graffiti. In their 21st Century mobile age of the World Wide Web internet, when a graffiti tag of our modern time becomes a social global buzzing sensation, then the word phrase that’s often used is viral or it’s gone viral, and in some instance, there would also be a counter display showing how many viewers have seen that viral

image. Some people, they would even become addicted to the responding attention on their 15 minutes of fame in being a digital recognized graffiti artist.]

[This abstract artwork is based on a drawing of a wood carving that was presented to me as a gift in the early mid-1980s. My fascination for triangle shapes is endless and here at the outer edges of this artwork of abstract creativity, the scribing sketching

of the triangles was done most recently in the year of 2020, while the central facial feature and other triangles were created around the year 1997. The naming of Mawoba was aesthetically inspired after empathically connecting with the original wood carving.]

GVL: Graffiti Notes 7: [Adults graffiti artists are big children who never forgot or abandon their passion for being a child drawing, painting or writing on a wall. I can remember a time long ago when people looking for a place to call their home would get rejected by the landlords because they had children. Some landlords would not rent their property in fear of the little monsters called children. Most children have a natural intrinsic nature to write & draw on the walls the moment they held a crayon or pencil in their little monster hands. Being that my Grandma never spared the belt and my dad was a policeman who did the same, writing and drawing on a wall was never my childhood thing. What I did was draw on a dry coconut shell or a piece of wood, cut it out

or chiseled it out, sanded it down, varnished & polished it, then glued a safety-pin at the back, then sold it to friends and strangers.]

GVL: Graffiti Notes 9: admired all those with the skill-craft to paint or draw an image with their artistic abilities. When I went to the US to live, I saw the colorful tones of graffiti street arts, which was different in contrast to the graffiti I had encountered as a child growing up on the Island of Jamaica. Over the many years, I’ve been doodling with a concept I’ve called Word Art, which is to write a poetic title or phrase then create abstract line arts with organic geometric symbols, then have the Ankh icon in the artwork. The last time I made a commissioned piece it took 72 hours and I only sold it for £200. The title for that one was “I Love My Mother” & it ended up being the cover image for the poetry book titled “Thy Breath of Life. I’m truly nothing in

comparison to the artful works I photographed for this book or some of the creative people I met on my aesthetic journey of life.]

When the fact of the matter was, I sought only to promote & cheered the street arts of Cheltenham, which I will still add, are in a public space, public domain. Say people truly desired to claim infringements of copyrights for photographing public artworks on the streets, then they should have a sign stating no photograph. Much like the public spaces of the Government Communications Headquarters, aka GCHQ. Along the sidewalks, on the fences & all around the signs are there,

however, the images displayed around Cheltenham as street arts, they do not have any such signs or have any such noticing for and to the public-at-large. As they say in Cheltenham “Fair-Play!” Once there are no harms to bodies then, it’s an intelligence of choice and freewill to use the public space for creative practice and personal means.]

De Performances of Photography & Creative Writings!

[I think I state it before! Ah well, I guess it’s time to repeat it once again, the quote that inspired me to focus more on blending the art of creative writing with photography. It was from my BFA photo history lesson, after reading the thick book that was required reading. Somewhere in there, I read Henrik Ibsen a paraphrased passage that stated: “A picture can say a thousand words, however only a great photographer can write a thousand words about a picture.” English was never my strong subject under the colonial educational regime of Jamaica and in America at Art School, I found out that I was suffering from dyslexia. While photography does feel natural to do, my writing felt more intrinsic like breathing. So, to be asked, why I use writing with my photographs, to me it’s like asking why I have a right and left arms or right and left body parts.

I never truly considered myself to be acting, I honestly always thought that I was just naturally being myself. It seems that’s not the case because unconsciously I’ve been acting all my life, ever since my birth and *maybe the curtains will fall when I am dead. It’s the same for everyone, from a young age we all were taught how to socially act in one way or another. Thus, I’d indeed agree with William Shakespeare's quote that “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances and one man in his time plays many parts.” My current performing role is that of a mature student studying a

course for MA Photography. *Maybe, when I am dead someone somewhere may decide to make the show goes on, by writing a story about my life. Maybe, that’s what all my writing & photographing are about; to continue the tales that I was alive and that I made a cultural contribution to the growth of humanity.

Those who seemingly are lacking or having low inhibition are oftentimes perceived to be magical or having an abundance of charisma. While the confidence of charisma can be taught, those who naturally don’t get discouraged about the changing circumstances of life, they’d function more on the pliability of cognitive inhibition. Meaning, they’ve somehow managed to learn a method of tuning out many of the stimuli that are irrelevant to the process of their societal motions in a collective environment. For example, an actor or an actress, while on stage performing a role in front of a lived audience or the cameras, they must tuneout to focus on the artistic expressions of their words and aesthetic body language to convey a believable or a more realistic storytelling. In most cases, these induvial belongs to an acting guild or have an extending support system that’d nurture their natural performing ability. The totem was a gift-giving to me when I was living in New Jersey, America. It goes with me everywhere for the last 20 odd years. Interrogative Expositions: Beyond de Scope, Quid Pro Quo: A Commission for an Exhibition! [Here in this brief introducing proposal on things to come! We are sharing the intent of a special event which is creatively titled Interrogative Expositions: Beyond de Scope. Within the artful capacity of 3D projecting; the perspective is for a very profound visionary storytelling, one that would seek to use the observational imageries associating with the author’s University of Gloucestershire Master of Art Photography researching thesis on discovering Cheltenham. As such, the photos published in this book & several other publications relating to the research interest will be the focal images of attention. Now, imagine at will, there is an art exhibition of photographs likewise creative writings, and upon the audiences entering the exhibition spaces, they are given 3D glasses. This hardware will ensure a full interrogative dive into what’s to come later on.

There's no seating chair this is a standing event and while some people are wearing the 3D glasses, the most difficult part for all those watching the projecting images is keeping their hands to their sides. Many have their hands in the air because, in the viewing, they’re interacting with the exhibiting artworks like never before. Their visual senses are at the point of overloading with the up-close viewing details of the imageries. Some are even making funny happy noises as they unconsciously vocalize the joyful first-time experience of three-dimensional screening. It’s the closest thing to virtual reality storytelling without wearing a VR

goggle or headgear. This is an art exhibition of our 21st Century technologies, one going beyond the normal scopes.

While this is just a conceptualization of an abstract projection by a creative dreamer; it’s also the next level on museums and galleries presentations of their collective artworks. In the advance of time, the virtual images on displaying the arts will replace the solid objects of our physical reality. It really not so farfetched to think, that somewhere on this globe; in an area like China, Japan, or the art facilities for places like Silicone Valley, they would already incorporate some new method on displaying visual images with advance technologies. Due to the lack of financial energy; for such an artistic sight, it may seem inconceivable for many to envision such an exhibiting exposition. Yet, the technologies for such an undertaking showcasing currently do exist.

Most art educators & creative practitioners in this hemisphere of the United Kingdom are completely unaware that the art showcasing with 3D imageries, virtual reality & holographic projecting are the happening future of our modern times. However, many of the institutions associating with corporate pedagogical programming have yet to incorporate the tools of intellectual growth, whereby, the streaming path of inductive instructive guidance can foster an aesthetic growth for the visionary dreamers of tomorrow today. He is Charming, No I’m Not!

He is charming I heard the old folks saying to themselves after letting me into their church to photograph.  In the company of her girlfriends, you are very charming this female stranger said to me and that all the other girls must have weak knees when I smile like that. I looked around to see whether she was speaking about some other male. I thought to myself, that she truly couldn’t be saying that about me. You are charming, I have heard many times in walk of my life, still, I must say, it’s better than being called pretty by both males & females. Teachers who schooled me, they’d oftentimes say the same thing, that I’m charming. It’s not like I’ve any control over what’s going on, nor do I have a magical switch that flip to put the charming mode on.

I was taught by an old woman a long time ago, to be polite and have manners wherever I go. So, it’s a norm for me to say good morning, good afternoon, good evening, & even asks someone, how is your day & how do you do. These are just some of the normal social things that I would do as I move on through my journey of life because they were all instilled in me while I was still a young child.

I truly don’t seek or attempt to be charming I’d rather be left alone & don’t speak to any another soul for days, months, and even years. The divine inspirations that’s inside me I’ve always

[Although I may go by the names of John Max, I don’t exist and they’re many more like me all around the world. So, what I’m about share, I don’t care whether you believe or not. In this world, they’re a hidden group having a war with other hidden groups & those who get caught in the crossfire are the regular normal people. In this war, many thousands, millions & even billions will suffer greatly not even knowing why.

They will be given reasons by the media, yet they’d never know the deep insidious causality. Living amongst the human population are other species of life that traveled the comic sea to be here, & in various countries, some have been here for many long years. Within those years some have married into the human population, thus producing hybrid humans with certain dispositions. Back in the late 1960s, I was read-in into the program of protective details for a specific hybrid family. To the everyday people, they look the same, physiologically likewise biologically while internally they have an elevated mental capacity with enduring physicality.

On my journey, I have met a few, however, my hero of this consciousness is the profound prophet by the name of Theodore Allen and who is now a departed visitor of this earthly realm.

Imagine a Chinese person going to Africa, set up a restaurant business which excluded serving food to Africans. Those who governed the land decided to shut it down.
