Columbia Crown Service As the first historical plates of any American university, to be made of fine china, the Columbia Crown Service plates fully justify the skill and care that have been given them. The center drawings are by Ernest D. Roth, N.A., who has recently completed the Columbia

Etchings.

The border was executed

by the artist who designed the official dinner service for the President of the United States. In grey blue and gold on an ivory background, these fifteen plates of Lenox china meet all the requirements of the most carefully chosen dinner service. An illustrated booklet, showing one of the plates in color and containing reproductions of all the centers, may be had from the Columbia University Bookstore, Columbia University, New York City.

takes pleasure in announcing the publication of a series of six etchings of Columbia University by the distinguished American artist, Ernest D. Roth, N. A. To the preliminary study of the Columbia campus and to the subsequent work of etching the plates, Mr. Roth has given the greater part of the past two years. By his perfect control of etching technique he has produced works of art which bring out the warmth of the Columbia scene and faithfully reflect its dignity. The selection of the subjects — in which the Press and Mr. Roth have had the cooperation of David Keppel, '01, Frank D. Fackenthal,'06, and Robert W. Macbeth,'06 — will have a special appeal to Columbia alumni. Mr. Roth's work is well known to discrim-

inating collectors and museums throughout the country. To Columbia alumni generally he is perhaps best known for the pen-and-ink drawings which he prepared for the centers of the Columbia Crown Service Plates. His Columbia etchings will make a strong appeal to the appreciation of art lovers as well as those who have an affection for the University on Morningside Heights. The titles of the six etchings are: (a) Low Memorial Library; (b) South Court; (c) Hamilton Hall; (d) School of Mines; (e) Kent Hall; (f) Earl Hall. On the following pages each of these is reproduced in greatly reduced size, and in each case both the plate and the mat sizes are indicated. The edition is limited to 12 5 proofs of each etching. They are available for $ 1 5 . 0 0 each, or all six, in a black cloth portfolio, may be obtained for $75.00.
