GPS Installation GPS Antenna Installation Position

Warning GPS antenna should be installed as close to BBU as possible.

GPS Antenna Installation Mode

Warning: Do not perform any operation on the iron tower or pole in case of lightning strikes or rain.

GPS Installation Laying GPS Feeder

a. Connect end A of GPS feeder to the GPS antenna interface. b. Lay GPS feeder along the cable tray until it reaches BS8800 cabinet. c. Connect end B of GPS feeder to the GPS interface at the bottom of BS8800 cabinet. d. Bind GPS feeder on the cable tray with outdoor ultraviolet cable ties. e. Take waterproof measures for the feeder connector in this way: wrap one layer of insulation tape, 3 layers of waterproof gum and 3 layers of ultraviolet tape, and then bind two ends of the connector with ultraviolet cable ties to prevent the tape loosening.

Making GPS Feeder Grounding Clip GPS feeder grounding clip should be installed at the point 1m before GPS feeder enters the equipment room or the equipment shelf, and the grounding clip should be made as follows: a.Peel off the sheath of the feeder: ◆ The peeled length is a little longer than the length of GPS feeder grounding clip. ◆ The feeder is peeled off to the extent that the conductor can be seen. b. Set the GPS feeder grounding clip onto the feeder and fasten it.

c. Take waterproof measures for the grounding clip by wrapping one layer of insulation tape, 3 layers of waterproof gum and 3 layers of ultraviolet tape. Finally, bind two ends of the grounding clip with ultraviolet cable ties to prevent the tape loosening. d. Remove the antirust paint on the grounding busbar nearby, reliably connect the ground wire of the grounding clip onto the grounding busbar and take necessary antirust measures.

Main Antenna Feeder System Installation

Main Antenna Feeder System Installation 5. Making Feeder Grounding Clip Installation Positions of Feeder Grounding Clips

1

If the feeder is less than 5m, there is no need to install it with the grounding clip; if the feeder exceeds 60m, a

grounding clip should be added in the middle of the feeder. In principle, grounding clips should be installed every 20m. 2

If main antenna feeder system, antenna support and cable tray are installed on a roof, they should be welded

onto the lightning protection net of the building. Besides, the feeder should be grounded at three points: where it leaves the antenna pole, where it leaves the roof and where it enters the equipment room. 3

When the main feeder is led from the roof into the room through the wall, the outdoor cabling ladder provided by

the operator must be grounded.

Main Antenna Feeder System Installation 6. Making Feeder Grounding Clip a. Peel off the sheath of the feeder: ◆ The peeled length is a little greater than the length of grounding clip. ◆ Peel off the feeder to the extent that the conductor is exposed. b. Set the feeder grounding clip onto the feeder and fasten it.

c. Take waterproof measures for the grounding clip by wrapping one layer of insulation tape, 3 layers of waterproof gum and 3 layers of ultraviolet tape. Finally, bind two ends of the grounding clip with ultraviolet cable ties to prevent the tape loosening.

d. Remove the antirust paint on the grounding busbar, reliably connect the ground wire of the grounding clip onto the grounding busbar and take necessary antirust measures.

Installation Check M07 Cabinet 1

When installed outdoors, the cabinet is waterproof enough and with good water flow performance.

2

The cabinet is installed at a position in compliance with the design drawing.

3

The error in horizontality and verticality of the cabinet should be no more than 3°. All parts of the cabinet do not fall off and are not damaged, and all identifications are correct, clear and

4

complete. If there is any damage, apply the paint ASAP.

5

All screws are screwed up, with flat (upper) and spring (lower) washers installed.

6

A dummy panel must be installed for any space in M07 cabinet.

7

The rat guard on top of the battery shelf must be tied up

8

There is no accessory left within M07 cabinet.

Cable In case of DC power supply being used in RRU, the power cable can be laid in parallel with signal 1

cables at any interval; in case of DC power supply, signal cables (e.g. AISG cable, monitor cable and antenna feeder) should be laid in parallel with AC power cable at an interval of at least 100 mm.

2

Any cable is forbidden to be coiled and should be tied in the wiring channel and be placed casually.

3

All cables should be laid straightly, and they should not intertwine with each other or hang in the air. The radio cables (microwave cables, antenna feeders, main antenna feeders, GPS feeders and so on)

4

are prohibited to be lied at an angle of 90 degree. 5 6 7

8

9

The cable ties are bound orderly, with proper tightness. The interval between cable ties is no more than 0.5 m and all ties face the same direction. In the room, after a cable tie is bound, the extra part is cut completely smoothly, without any spur. Outside the room, after a cable tie is bound, 1~2 mm surplus is reserved and the cable is cut smoothly without any spur. Labels with correct contents are attached at both ends of a cable. The labels face right after attachment. The VSWR test should be done before the waterproof measures are taken to the feeders. Besides, the feeders should be marked. The power, fiber and feeder connectors at RRU should be sealed in the way of “1 layer of insulation

10

tape + 3 layers of waterproof tape + 3 layers of ultraviolet tape”. (The feeder connector of R9110 should be sealed with cold shrinkable tube.)

Installation Check RRU 1

The main pole should be vertical, with an error less than 2°.

2

The interface between the jumper and RRU cabinet is screwed up with a torque spanner of 1.7 Nm.

3

The jumper is correctly connected to the connection terminal at the bottom of RRU rack.

4

The pole for equipment (except antenna) installation should be placed in the roof or within the fence of iron tower.

5

All installation assembly should be firmly fixed, resisting the hurricane or meeting other specific requirements. It is recommended to use poles of 4 ~ 6mm depth and with a diameter of 60mm ~ 120mm.

6

RRU must be reliably grounded and installed within 45° protection range of a lightning rod.

Main Antenna Feeder System The power, fiber and feeder connectors at RRU should be sealed in the way of “1 layer of insulation 1

tape + 3 layers of waterproof tape + 3 layers of ultraviolet tape”. (The feeder connector of R9110 should be sealed with cold shrinkable tube.)

2

The feeder and jumper should not be pressed and their outer layers should not be damaged. The feeder grounding clip and the feeder connector should be wrapped with one layer of insulation

3

tape, three layers of waterproof tape and three layers of ultraviolet tape. Two ends of the tape should be bound with ties so as to prevent the tape falling.

4

5 6

The feeder should be grounded on the following principles: if the feeder is shorter than 5 m, grounding is not required; if the feeder is shorter than 20 m but longer than 5 m, it can be grounded at one point. The grounding end of the feeder grounding clip should face downward to prevent water flowing into the feeder. On the main feeder, feeder clips should be installed every 1.5 m at most. Azimuth: In case of unipole directional antenna, measure the azimuth of each antenna. The actual

7

azimuth angle of the antenna should be consistent with that in network planning, and the two antennas of the same sector should face the same direction with an error less than 10º. Mechanical downtilt: The mechanical downtilt angle of each unipole antenna should be measured. The

8

omni-directional antenna should be upright, while the tilt angle of the directional antenna should be consistent with that in network planning, with en error no more than 1º.

Installation Check GPS 1

GPS antenna should be installed in an open area, making sure it can receive signals from at least 4 GPS satellites.

2

GPS antenna should be no more than 5 m above the ground or roof.

3

GPS antenna should be installed within the 45º protection range of the lightning arrester.

4

There should be not any obstacle right above GPS antenna within an angle of 120°.

5

GPS should be as close to BBU as possible so long the above 4 requirements are met.

6

7 8 9 10

The feeder connectors at RRU should be sealed in the way of “1 layer of insulation tape + 3 layers of waterproof tape + 3 layers of ultraviolet tape”. At two sides of each bend, the cable tiers must be bound. GPS signal cable should be bound at each cross iron of the cable tray. When it is laid along the wall, it should be bound at an even interval. At two sides of each bend, the cable must be bound. The lightning arrester is firmly installed. Grounding clip should be installed for the GPS feeder at the point of 1m before entering M07 cabinet or the equipment room. The grounding cable of the lightning arrester is reliably connected to the BTS’ copper grounding bar.
