Dedication To the two most important men in my life, my husband Larry and my
son A.J., who were my reasons for staying here and trying whenI didn’t
know why. Without your love, patience, and encouragement this book would not have been possible. To my mom Sarah who still teaches me something every day. I love you
very much and I can’t imagine my life without you, thank you for all of your prayers, support, and loving words of faith and encouragement.
And to my dad, my friend, you always had faith in me and in everything I did. Thank you for never leaving me, even though you are no longer here.
Lastly, to the thousands of near-death survivors who may silently struggle to comprehend their near-death experience and hide their voice for fear of ridicule and to those others who have had the courage to tell their story in spite of it... This one is for you!

Acknowledgments
~ here are some things in life that just seem to happen to us, things that we don’t have control over. It was never my intention to write a book, become an author, or have a near-death expe-
rience. All of that just seemed to happen to me.
But writing a book doesn’t just happen, it seems to evolve. It takes a huge amount of time, patience, and effort from of a lot of great people. Although my name may be on the front cover and my thoughts are in the text, they certainly didn't get there without many other important contributors.
To my loving husband, Larry, who watched in horror as the life slipped
from my body. Larry, you have witnessed the unimaginable and felt the fear and vulnerability of almost losing your new wife. And although that tragic night has left its scar on you, your love, faith, and devotion
to me have never faltered. I love you with all my heart, and I thank you for loving me unconditionally and for protecting me when I forget how. Through the privilege of parenting, my beautiful son, A.J., has taught
me more about life than any other person I know. A.J., sweetheart, you have shown me the immense power a mother-and-son bond can have,
and what unconditional love really means. Even though you have been
forced to stare death in the face more times than any man your age, you have done so courageously, and you continue to choose to joyously embrace and celebrate life. You are my inspiration and you amaze me every day, I love you very much, and I am very proud of you and the man you have grown to be.
Like any parent with a child, my mom, Sarah, worries about me and loves
me unconditionally. Mom, I am very blessed to have you still in my life. Your solid faith, your eighty years of wisdom and your unconditional love
has seen me through many bleak and dark moments. The countless prayers you've said for me, so that I might find my way, have been an-
swered and I am very happy to be sharing this accomplishment with you today. I love you, Mom. Even through the lost years of time and the distance of miles, my older
sister, Debbie, has never left my heart or my mind. They say that every dark cloud has a silver lining, and Deb, we are living proof of that!
Debbie, I love you very much! Without your inspiration and your encouragement to take my journal writings and transcribe them into sentences, we would not be holding this book! Your enthusiasm, passion, and energy in helping this book succeed are indescribable. Thank you for the countless telephone conversations and for working long hours on the first draft of the manuscript. You are a very loving, giving person, and I am so happy to be on this journey with you!
My other sister, Sandi, has and an incredible business mind and offers the best sound guidance. Sandi, Iam so proud to call you my sister and
I love you very much. No matter how stuck I get, you are always there for me and I am grateful for the love you give me. You are a great teacher, and I will always enjoy learning from you.
And now to my Dream Team! Most people know that a manuscript can-
not be called a book until the editor sculpts it into a masterpiece, the graphic designer paints, cleans, and polishes it, and the printer masterfully frames it perfectly so it can shine magnificently on display. Thank you to my Dream Team for taking my lump of coal, turning it into a diamond,
polishing it so it glitters, and beautifully packaging it for all to see! To my brilliant Editor, Amy Van Vleck at writewayedits.com, who was
a major contributor to this project and had the hardest job of all. Spirituality is a very difficult topic to edit and very few can do it well. You masterfully balanced feeling my message as a reader, and then you skillfully simplified it, making my message much stronger and easier to un-
derstand. You have done what others have tried to do; where would this
lump of coal be without you? Amy, I don’t know how I can ever thank you for spinning my lump of coal into a diamond! It’s amazing how our paths crossed and I feel very blessed to not only call you my brilliant editor but now also my friend. You are a true gem, with all my heart,
thank you!
To my incredible Designer, Dean Pickup at dpict Visual Communications thanks for polishing my work! Your passion to create is evident in your award-winning book covers and beautiful technical artistry in layout design. From our first conversation,Iloved your enthusiasm and dedication to your profession, and happily relinquished complete cre-
ative control to you. There is so much more that goes into the detailed
layout and design than I could have ever imagined. Thank you for beautifully polishing my diamond and for your incredible integrity, com-
passion, and dedication. It boggles my mind that you can create such an eloquent simple cover that can describe so much. You are a wonderfully gifted and talented artist. Great job, Dean! To the wonderful team at Friesen’s Printing, who has masterfully bundled, bound, and packaged my work for all to see: thank you for the
quotes, printing, the binding, the packaging, and the shipping. Also, I am very thankful to Aquarius Publishing for co-ordinating the whole process, teaching me about author marketing and PR campaigns, and for distributing this book. Lastly, Iam eternally grateful to my long-time friend and cardiologist,
Dr. Gulamhuseien. Throughout my life I have endured more than 120 SVT attacks and suffered through more than twenty cardioversions. Doctor G., we have known each other for seventeen years, and together,
we've struggled through three of my failed heart ablation procedures
and I feel so blessed that you agreed to do the fourth procedure. I guess the fourth time was the charm! Thank you for curing my arrhythmia, and my eternal thanks for giving me a chance to live life! I will always
consider you the best cardiologist and friend. Thank you for not giving up on me when so many others did. Thank you for changing my life!
I need to thank the nursing staff who listened to me without judgment on the night of my near-death experience. You shared your knowledge
and gave me guidance to seek further information from experts who specialize in near-death experiences. This made a huge difference in my search for answers
and recovery process.
I am forever grateful to all the devoted members at the International Association for Near-Death Studies (www. [ANDS.com), and to Dr.
Jeffrey Long and his staff at the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (www.NDERF.com). To my incredible extended family,
Uncle Ken and Aunt Marg Booker: thank you for supporting Larry
when he needed it most. I am also grateful to my wonderful friends, Karen Mandrusiak, Carol Bailey, and Veronica Mulder who always
showed me such respect, compassion, and love and reminded me often that I am indeed normal!
Thank you all!
Always my best, Lorri
