ELŐSZÓ Ez a mü abból az elgondolásból jött létre, hogy segítse az érettségire és a nyelvvizsgára való felkészülést. A kiadvány 17 feladatlapot tartalmaz, melyekkel valamennyi típusú érettségi feladat gyakorlására bőséges lehetőség kínálkozik.. 17 angolról m agyarra fordítás is kapcsolódik a feladatlapokhoz, ezek hírügynökségi jelentések, illetve újságcikkek. Valamennyi feladatlap végén megtalálhatók a megoldási kulcsok. így akár egyéni tanulásra is kiválóan alkalmas a könyv. Vannak azonban olyan gyakorlatok, melyeknek lehet más jó megoldása is, mint amit a kulcsban találsz. Ha bizonytalan vagy egy-egy kérdést illetően, kérd tanárod segítségét! Figyelem! Az itt közölt példák kizárólag gyakorlófeladatok. Nem szerepeltek a korábbi évek vizsgáin, de hasonlókkal fogsz találkozni az érettségin és - fordítások esetében - a nyelvvizsgán. Az angol érettségi vizsgán a nyolc gyakorlat megoldása közben nem használhatsz szótárt, ennek ellenére azt javaslom , hogy a feladatok feldolgozásakor, ha szükségét érzed, inkább szótározz. így gyakorlod a szótárhasználatot, és fejlődik a szókincsed is. Ez pedig hozzásegít ahhoz, hogy megfelelő szintet érj el a vizsgán. Term észetesen nemcsak érettségi előtt állók és nyelvvizsgára készülők használhatják ezt a kiadványt, hanem már az első/kilencedik Osztályos középiskolások is, mivel szám os olyan gyakorlat található a könyvben, melyet már ők is meg tudnak oldani.

Bár a nyelvvizsgán (a fordításon kívül) nem szerepelnek a gyakorlókönyvi feladatok, mégis azt tanácsolom, hogy a vizsgázandók is oldják meg a gyakorlatokat, mert a nyelvtani tudás tökéletesítésére, elm élyítésére kiválóan alkalmasak.

A fordításokról Célszerű a könyvet sorjában feldolgozni, mivel az újságcikkek fokozatosan válnak egyre hosszabbá és nehezebbé. Találhatsz a gyakorlókönyvben rövidebb szövegeket is, de egy dologban megegyeznek: mindegyikben van legalább egy olyan mondat, melyet különösen nehéz lefordítani. N oha egyik vizsgán sem adják meg a szavakat, kifejezéseket (szótárt lehet használni!), mégis fontosnak tartottam azokat közölni. Tapasztalataim alapján ugyanis a diákoknak a szótárózással el is megy a kedvük az egész fordítástól. Amikor leírják az átültetett szöveget, arra már rendszerint nem tudnak elég energiát fordítani, hogy az értelm es és magyaros legyen.

Hogyan fordítsunk? Először tanuld meg a kigyűjtött szavakat, kifejezéseket! Némelyikük m ellett *-ot találsz. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a szótárban így találod meg a jelentésüket, de a cikkben ilyen formában nem fordíthatod le, tehát Neked kell kitalálni a szövegösszefüggés alapján, hogy mi illik a mondatba. Ha végeztél a szótanulással, olvasd el a teljes szöveget, majd készíts róla piszkozatot! Ezután következhet a tisztázat. Ezt olvasd fel egy hozzáértőnek, hogy kiderüljenek az esetleges hibák. És csak mindezek után nézd meg a mintamegoldást! A fordításoknak számos jó megoldása lehet még,

tehát, ha a te változatod nem egyezik meg az itt közölttel, még nem biztos, hogy rossz. Ez ügyben fordulj tanárodhoz.

Egyéb tanácsok N agyon sok esetben - a magyaros fordítás érdekében - el kell hagynunk egy-egy szót, vagy ki kell pótolnunk a szöveget. Nem szabad szó szerint fordítani, de az eredeti újságcikket sem írhatjuk át úgy, hogy már teljesen mást jelentsen. Talán ez okozza a legtöbb nehézséget. Próbáld meg elképzelni, hogyan mondjuk az adott m ondatot helyesen magyarul. A jánlott napilapokat olvasni, illetve a különböző tv-csatornák hírm űsorait nézni. Ne feledjük, a fordítás nem pusztán szótarozás, hanem sokkal inkább szellemi tevékenység! Ha mind a 17 szöveget ilyen m ódszerrel fordítod le - és megtanulod a szavakat, kifejezéseket -, akkor nagy valószínűséggel olyan rutinra teszel szert, hogy nem okoz majd gondot rövid idő alatt átültetni magyarra az angol újságcikkeket sem a.nyelvvizsgán, sem pedig az érettségin. Remélem, sok segítséget kapsz ettől a kiadványtól, bármilyen m egm érettetésre készülj is. Ehhez kíván Neked sok sikert

Egy kolum biai férfi felbiciklizett a 38 em eletes épület tetejére

Bogota /Reuters/ —Egy 26 éves kolum biai férfi új világcsúcsot állított fel azzal, hogy felbiciklizett a 38 em eletes irodaház tetejére 760 lépcsőfokon keresztül. Javier Zapata csütörtök este hajtotta végre látványos bravúrját az északnyugati M edellinben. 23 perc és 17 másodperc kellett ahhoz, hogy feljusson biciklijével a C oltejer irodaház 760 lépcsőjén. A korábbi világcsúcsot egy spanyol kerékpáros tartotta, aki 25 perc 23 m ásodperc alatt kerekezett fel egy barcelonai szálloda 747 lépcsőfokán, jelentette a helyi média. A m utatvány lényege m indkét esetben az volt, hogy a kerékpárosnak nem volt szabad lábával m egérintenie a , talajt. Zapata kiváló teljesítményét, melyet teljes egészében filmre vettek, a medellini rendőrparancsnok és a nemzetközi kerékpáros-szövetség egyik bírája felügyelte. „Levegőt” - körülbelül ennyit sikerült Zapatának mondania a riportereknek, miután befejezte m utatványát, és elmondták neki, hogy beírta magát a Guiness Rekordok Könyvébe. „Kis híján m eghaltam odabenn” - tette még hozzá Zapata. Chicago (Reuters) - Finn kutatók felfedezték, hogy egyre nő azoknak a gyerekeknek a száma, akiknek fejfájást okoz az iskolakezdés. Ez valószínűleg a stressznek tudható be. The growth is in girth is spreading across the demographic board -children and people in their 50s are also getting fatter. M ore than 73 percent o f 50-year old men and 64 percent o f 50 year old women have EM I's over 25. Inactivity alone may not be the only explanation. Hsing-Hsing and his female mate, Ling-Ling, arrived in W ashington in 1972, a gift from the People’s Republic o f China following President Nixon's trip to Beijing. Ling-Ling died o f heart failure in 1992, and none o f the cubs ■ that the pair produced survived more than a few days. H sing-Hsing has weathered his own share o f ailments. Residential prices are having the same effect: Threebedroom houses now start at about British pounds 625,000 pounds (US $1 million), which is probably what the house Grant's "Notting Hill" character owns would cost. And just renting a,one-bedroom apartm ent will set you back about 1,000 pounds ($1,600). "When I first moved here, it was affordable," Holder says. "You could have young people com ing in. Now, no one could afford the current prices. So the mix to the area - that goes. It's all wealthy people."
