PREFACE Hare Krishna! you start reading and getting into the chapter's text, I would like you B efore to read this part to help you go through the book thoroughly. The main motive of writing this book and publishing it online is to help each NIMCET aspirant get in touch with some of my experiences regarding this competitive exam. I personally feel that due to lack of subject matters, there is less awareness than other national level exams. While writing this book, I felt overwhelmed in collecting different experiences and combining them in a single part. It was never so easy to get through such an idea, but my main motive was clear, and that helped me a lot i.e., to serve the students who are enthusiastic about getting through such kind of book, which is unique in its way. To be clear, it's not a textbook of reasoning or maths. So, here you all will come to know some tips, tricks and experiences of myself and others. As of my introduction, I am Shashank, AIR-5 NIMCET 2020. You all will come to know more about me in the sections ahead. Going through the book, you will know that this book is well designed and structured in 11 different chapters, and each chapter has some sub-sections where you will get the works. In the appendix, I have included the testimonials of different toppers of NIMCET that you all should read and last-minute strategy for current year aspirants. Remember, this is not a kind of storybook or a novel, but it's just like your personal mentor, which will guide you throughout your journey. So remember, don't read in a stretch; just follow it chapter-wise.I hope readers will get to know about almost everything of NIMCET that they couldn’t get in a single place and at last crack the exam with great success. I am personally giving greetings to all of my readers who are reading this that may Lord bless them with great success in the exams ahead

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION SECTION : A( A BRIEF INTRO TO THE EXAM) Hare Krishna! Let us start this discussion with the introduction of the NIMCET exam. I hope you might have some idea regarding what this exam is about and how it is organized every year. But, for the shake of convenience i would like to give a brief intro regarding it . NIMCET(National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance test) is a national level examination conducted by different NITs for admission to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses in selected National Institutes of Technology (NITs), University of Hyderabad (UoH), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) and in Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU). A total of 11 NITs offer MCA and take admission based on NIMCET rank, including NIT Agartala, NIT Allahabad, NIT Bhopal, NIT Calicut, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Raipur, NIT Surathkal, NIT Tiruchirappalli and NIT Warangal, NIT Patna(added in the year 2021). As of 2020 total of 871 seats are offered by all NITs . So, reading this you might have got a little idea regarding NIMCET and what it is. You can though refer to web to know in detail about NIMCET as I am assuming you all are aware about this exam. Now, moving forward I will be introducing you in brief regarding the exam pattern , syllabus and much more. So, without any delay let’s start.

Here, I will be discussing the question paper pattern ,the mode of exam , syllabus , the marking scheme , the marks distribution etc.

SECTION : B(SYLLABUS BREAKUP) QP Pattern NIMCET question paper comprises of four sections. SEC-A is Mathematics(50)questions of four marks each SEC-B is Analytical Ability and Logical reasoning(40)questions of four marks each. SEC-C is Computer Awareness(10)of four marks each. SEC-D is General English(20) of four marks each. Negative marking of -1 will be there for each wrong answer. Marking scheme and Marks distribution Now,folks you might think its a 480 marks paper then why i have written 1000 marks as total in the previous section. So, let me introduce you with the weightage . Mathematics - will have maximum weightage for each question. The score for each question here will be 12. As its weightage is 3. Similarly for reasoning section it will be 6(1.5)weightage. Computer awareness will have 8 score(2)weightage and English will have least with 4(1) weightage. Negative marking will follow the same (-3,-1,5,-2,-1) , for each section in sequential manner. Mode of examination

Till 2019 NIMCET exam was conducted in pen and paper mode only. But, with the impact of pandemic(COVID-19) which created huge disturbances world wide NIMCET was decided to go online . In the year 2021 the same thing happened and as of now its online mode exam for 2021 . The coming years might see the same trend going on. We will discuss later about the pros and cons of Online exam over pen paper test. CHAPTER 2 SCOPE FOR MCA Hare Krishna! Majority of students while pursuing a graduation either from science(B.Sc/BIT) or from BCA or even from B.E./B.Tech are confused whether to opt for MCA or not . Should I go for it , or is it worth doing? Will it give me enough skills so that i would get a job? Such questions should arise in the mind of aspirants who are willing to go for MCA after their graduation and its not uncommon to ask oneself when you are opting for a path which is not so common and less talked about. So, the same question which arises here , Is MCA worth doing? What is the scope for it? So, my friend i would like you to elaborate it with what actually this PG degree is all about . At first , if you are a graduate with basic knowledge about computer(Yes you are right ! Basic ) or you are totally unaware about it but you are interested to join this field either to pursue IT job , research , teaching etc then this degree would be the best choice available for you to choose among. If you successfully get admission in any of the premier institutes of India who offer this course then of course your chances for getting into your dream MNC is much more or even you can pursue your higher studies from there. This course is designed in such a way that with theoretical knowledge you will gain practical skills too which brush up your chances to rejuvenate your hope of a better career. This course if of course a professional course unlike other PG courses like(M.Sc., which indeed a good course to go with but here I am giving MCA a slight advantage)it offers you some hands on experience with the coding and programming world. You might be aware that after pursuing this course you are now considered an equivalent with the B.E. Guys in the corporate world(Yes,it’s true). So, this 2-3 year course is much more than what you have learned in your graduation days . Here several colleges offers you the same syllabus which a B.Tech guy studies(sometimes even more), So , now it totally depends upon you how you are going to

explore this opportunity and give yourself a solid start while doing it. After much discussion I think you are now in a position to understand what MCA is all about and how it is different form other courses and why you should pursue it if you are a tech geek. Like , I have discussed above about corporate world and the scope for MCA there . So,you might now think what kind of roles I would be given in the organization I am placed with. So here I would list job profiles that companies offer to a MCA graduate. 1. Software development engineer(SDE) 2. Data scientist 3. Data engineer 4. Database engineer 5. Cloud architect 6. Web designer 7. Network engineer 8. Technical content writer Etc. This list goes on.. Not only these there are many other job profiles and roles a MCA graduate can perform based on his talent and skills. So, its actually a broad spectrum of roles and opportunities after you complete your MCA. Talking about salary you would get, the average salary of top colleges that offer MCA is near about (12 LPA CTC) and if you are talented and skilled enough you would grab even more than 50 LPA CTC(highest being 60 LPA) in India only. So, at last focus on your skills and boost your communication and confidence if you are pursuing MCA the rest will follow. I can recall a Sloka from Shrimad Bhagavad Gita which follows as:कम येवािधकार ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कमफलहेतुभुमा ते संगो वकमिण ॥ You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty. - Bhagavad Gita, Chapter II, Verse 47

CHAPTER 3 A HEAD START Hare Krishna! So,friends till the point whatever I have discussed in the previous chapters you should read them all as those chapters will make you aware about this exam and the scope after clearing it. So, from now on wards those students who are willing to give NIMCET exam and even those who are still confused whether to opt it or not should read the upcoming chapters clearly and sincerely as I will be focusing here on the preparation strategy and how to get a decent rank to qualify for the top colleges. ! All the best ! SEC-A (Initial start) Now you are completely sure that you will go for NIMCET and willing to crack it with a good rank . So, the first question which comes in mind of students here will be how should I start? What strategy should I use to get the maximum benefit. The answer to this question is simple , Just start it without delaying anymore. Start looking for the syllabus from the website and go through it thoroughly understand what is being asked and what is present it the syllabus. You might not understand even a single word after looking to the syllabus for the first time as same happened with me and I was very fed up like I can’t do it. But, you should not think like that as this is new you might not have mathematics in your High school(12th) , may be you are from commerce or biology background so don’t get panic wrecked just start the things in sequential manner that I will be discussing . The right time for it to start is as early as in 1st year (looking out for syllabus , start reading newspapers , novels to improve vocab). Now you might think that you are in 3rd year or have taken drop then you are late( नह मेरे दो त तुम गलत हो।)as one thing i still remember my teacher used to tell me when I was in coaching that it’s never too late as I have seen many students who even started from the very beginning after 3rd year and able to qualify with under 20 rank (yeah! Its true) . Foremost thing I would like to mention here is that whenever you first came to know about NIMCET in your graduation start from that point only I

did the same without any delay . I purchased NIMCET mock papers in the 1st year only when I started my graduation . So start preparing for it as early as possible and even if you think you are late then no worries start at that time only its not that difficult to crack (like other government exams). I will be answering some FAQs regarding NIMCET and its preparation that students frequently ask from me. Q.)I am from non mathematics background but i have mathematics in my graduation should I go for NIMCET? Ans:- Yes of course you should go for it if you have that much passion regarding this field as you can learn and practice mathematics in gradual amount of time. So, no need to worry just start the preparation as early as possible to get the maximum output. There are several students who are from non-mathematics background but still they cracked NIMCET with decent rank and are now in top colleges. Q.) From when should I start my preparation? Ans:- As I have mentioned above start it as early as possible. The early may be different for different individuals some might have to take drop after colleges as they don’t have enough time to start the preparation and some may start from the first or second year only. So whenever you think you are ready you should start. Q.) Had you joined any coaching and if you did then in which year of your graduation? Ans:- Yes I did joined a coaching which was nearest to my college i.e. INPS classes Lucknow U.P. . I joined in the year 2018 when I was in second year as I don’t wanted any delay for my preparation that’s why I was able to achieve this rank. Also if you are in 3rd year or have taken drop then no need to worry you should start your preparation ASAP(as majority of students who qualify for NIMCET start their preparation from 3rd year or take a drop).

Q) Is coaching necessary? Ans:- Depends. I will be discussing in detail regarding this topic.

SEC-B (Strategy) Majority of students after starting their preparation without any plan and goal tend to suffer from withdrawal from their work. They soon start feeling hopeless or they might feel like its out of their reach to crack this exam. They deviate from their path and quit the preparation after few days. These all occurs due to lack of any blueprint and strategy to follow. Because of this several students even after starting quit their study in hopelessness. So , its very important for students to get a blueprint set before starting or after starting their preparation. So, the question arises here what strategy to follow? Which books to refer? Coaching or self-preparation . I will be answering these all. The foremost thing you should think about is whether you are good at mathematics at your high school(PCM) or not then are you confident enough that you can learn all those stuffs? If yes , then start preparation as early as possible because remember that you have to give more effort in your self preparation than those who are enrolled with any coaching institute. I don’t mean to demotivate any of my reader who is doing self preparation (due to their personal problems) I am just comparing both the options. And,yes there are students who even cracked IIT-JEE without any coaching institute then why you can’t crack this exam. But to my point of view I will suggest you to enroll with any good coaching institute which you may find better to join(I will suggest you some institutes later) as this will increase your chances for getting a seat in any good institute. But again remember enrolling with any institute does not guarantee you to crack the exams it’s you who have to put the efforts. Again it comes to you whether you are joining an institute or selfpreparing the main work is for you . Those students who are unable to join any institute due to lack of availability in their area (though every institute in offering online classes) or due to financial problem. I will suggest them some books latter in this section. Also, remember one thing mathematics has the most weightage in this examination so you have to focus more on mathematics than any other section.Yeah, indeed Reasoning Computer or English are important but getting the grip on maths is must and you can’t qualify this exam without doing good in maths(as this sections contains max marks). Reasoning follows after mathematics so give time to those section too. I will be discussing in detail in upcoming chapters regarding this.

SEC-C(BOOKS AND STUDY MATERIALS) If you are preparing via a coaching or self then in both the cases you need to study thoroughly any topic with a standard text book (apart from coaching materials). Sometimes coaching enrolled students may not practice with any text book as they have ample of materials to go with but when you are self preparing then you need to follow these books which I am listing below in sequential manner . Coaching enrolled students can practice it too as I have solved all of them FOR MATHEMATICS 1. class XI and class XII NCERT mathematics book(basics)-1st book to refer 2. R.D. Sharma subjective for class XI and XII (optional) -2nd book to refer 3. Universal Self scorer Error less mathematics for JEE (Mains and advanced)-3rd book to refer 4. R.D. Sharma objective for JEE mains and advncd.-4th book to refer(may be the last). 5. Mohit Tyagi sir JEE mathematics lecture videos on YouTube (selfprep) Topic wise(Supplementary) 1. Arihant Differential , Integral calculus for JEE Mains and Advanced by Amit M. Aggarwal (for calculus) 2. Arihant S.K. Goyal JEE mains and Advanced (for Algebra) 3. Arihant S.K. Goyal Jee mains and advanced ( for co-ordinate geometry) So, if you are a beginner and not from mathematics background or you were weak in mathematics in your High School(12th) then you should start your preparation with NCERT of 11th and 12th followed by RD Sharma subjective(for 11th and 12th board) . Now it may take several months as it is the base for you to start. If you were good at 12th maths then you can skip this books. Now original preparation starts here as you start solving error less

mathematics , you may feel difficulty here if you are self preparing or even in a coaching as this books contains some good questions . So start focusing on concepts and formulas start revising daily and follow the you tube channel of MOHIT TYAGI sir mathematics for JEE mains and ADVANCED. This lecture series will help you a lot in making your concepts crystal clear and thus increasing your confidence. The most standard book any one will suggest any day for NIMCET is R.D. Sharma objective (for Jee mains and advncd.). This is not the same book which you have studied earlier in your 12th board . This books really contains some difficult questions in example section. But remember this book is the last book you have to follow after solving all other books mentioned above. So, I will be discussing regarding this book in detail in further chapters. Coming next are the books which you may not need tio solve as they are of JEE level . So, if you are now an ace in mathematics and you have solved all the books the time has come now to take your skills to another level by solving those supplementary section books. Those books are not important for everyone to solve. As they are of tougher level. But if you want to solve then you can solve those books at last to boost up your concepts(not necessary).I can Remember a thought here :“Aim for the moon , if you miss you will land among the stars” -Even this exam is easy than others remember competition is there too . So, never take anything for granted instead give your best so that even if you miss the best then also you will get a better.

CHAPTER 4 NEW COMFORT ZONE Hare Krishna! Several questions are asked regularly from me by aspirants like what should be my daily routine ? Which time table you followed ? How you managed college studies with preparation? All of these questions are genuine and they must be addressed properly. Even I asked the same questions during the first few months of my preparation from my seniors and my teacher. So, a proper guidance and answers of these questions are mandatory to make the mindset clear regarding all those things. In this chapter I will be discussing the same problems and questions students face during their preparation and how to cope up with it . “A time table is just an another table until you starts giving it’s time” SEC-A Yes, the above quote is very much true. Many of us had made a time table at least once in the past and I think not everyone of us had followed it strictly after initial days. Sooner or later it just get stuck there without any relevance and even may create you anxiety regarding the time slots you are not following. Frankly speaking I was never a time table kind of person , I do whenever I want to do(But yeah consistently) . According to me just making an ideal time table will never work until you start executing it . Sometimes a person may design a very strict time table and after few days he fails to replicate the same in real life. So this situation may create trouble and depression for him and he starts wasting more and more time thinking of the slot he missed from his time table. I am not discouraging anyone who is executing his time table but I am just telling if you have designed an ideal time table then you must follow that and if you are failing continuously after initial days then stop that time table and plan another way to sort it out. So, the most perfect time table is that which you can follow with your daily routine without getting any trouble and is giving you output.

So, here I will be answering few FAQs regarding it. Q.> What will be the best time table for NIMCET preparation? Ans:- As answered above no time table is good if you are unable to follow it. So design a time table which you can follow and properly execute. Make a routine in which you are comfortable (not in the sense of chilling and relaxing LOL ;) ) and is the most productive give your maximum time to studies and give least to leisure time(yeah sometimes it’s okay). This thing will work and it worked for me too. Just try it on your own. Q.> How to manage college and preparation simultaneously ? Ans:- Yeah , this question comes very frequently from students like how they can manage these two different things. The answer is very simple. You are not the only one who is facing this crisis . Before you several students have faced the same and majority of students who qualify this exam are of final or pre-final year. They manage simultaneously the projects the semester exams and the preparation. So, start cutting your time from Netflix , web series, SNS , YouTube etc and invest it into your preparation. But never compromise with your daily sleep routine it will affect your health. Being healthy is the foremost thing you should do. Q.> How much hours should I study? Ans:- It depends and varies from person to person. Some may find it easy to study fro 4 - 6 hours others may need break after each hour. Some students study very few hours a day and still score good and others may have to give plenty of time to do the same. So it’s not like that if he studies that much hour then I should imitate the same. Every individual is different and have different capacities. Yes, give the most time to your studies in which you think you are productive. Without being productive if you are studying for hours then its of no use. Study less but be more productive. Hard work < Smart work. I am not discouraging you to study less but study as much as you can ( Don’t tell me this thing now that you don’t love study). But study consistently and daily as you have to do you have no other way to go. So, reading the response of those questions you might be feeling good now . As this answers are very ideal and seems to be very easy to follow and execute. But believe me they are the most difficult. Again nothing is difficult if you have that much determination and courage to do. Push your self harder

each day. Tomorrow should see a better version of you than today. Always remember in mind that each small success will at last contribute you to the over all victory . My sincere request to you please follow this habits then come to next section. SEC-B If you have started following those things that I have mentioned above you might now have been feeling overwhelmed. You must be thinking like “bhaiyaa kya-kya bak diye hai ho to raha nahi kuch bhi hamse” . Then you all are thinking correctly and you are on a right path my friend. Believe me I was thinking the same when i started executing the habits after few days(3-4 days) . Now you are in a new normal . Now you are no longer the same individual you have been before. You are now more reserved with your work and studies . You have no longer time to watch movies , go outside or play video games. This is the new comfort zone , the new normal you have to accept till you get your dream college. After reading this you might be feeling low or sad that now my life is nothing but a hell where I have to do my work only. Remember this 1 or 2 year will be the most impacting phase of your life till now. You will decide your future from here. Then why not to invest wisely in those years. As this time will give you a better tomorrow in which you can do all those activities which you like according to you. But this time in which you are preparing spend it wisely. Love your work whatever you are doing. At the beginning it is very difficult but sooner it will adapt you or in the other words you will adapt your new comfort zone. You will no longer watching those series and playing video games or roaming outside with friends. This new zone is your original study zone in which you can make friends who are equally or even more dedicated to you for their studies if you are in a coaching. Or if you are selfpreparing then you can watch the videos on YouTube at night before going to sleep of the toppers who were successful in NIMCET. That will keep you motivated. A strong base will always give you a better future. So, during this initial days stick to your routines be a sociopath for some time , it will work accordingly. Remember in converting your new comfort zone never compromise your health. Follow a healthy routine , sleep , diet with good proper exercise to rejuvenate your energy level so that you can make your studies very intense.

As without a healthy body you can’t do much. If you are a late owl please stop this , its seriously affecting your mental and physical health . Try to sleep early and wake up early in the morning so that you have proper complete day for work. A healthy brain resides in a healthy body. If you are a spiritual person or even not then also you can do proper breathing exercises and meditation , so that your body replenishes its energy and heal itself. Pray to lord to give you good amount of energy each day so that you can work hard and make that day a successful day for you. Praying helps in giving motivation and zeal for work. Yes, it works you can try it. I am a spiritual person and I follow all those things. Some times you might have heard like during preparation you should deactivate all your social media accounts to save your time. Your have to avoid relation ships to save much time. But believe me its not the same for everyone. Yeah I had deactivated all my accounts but i didn’t found it useful as I became unaware of my surrounding what’s happening and not much time is saved . You can use it but in limit save a proper time for yourself to use those things. Like I did after coming from coaching at 8 PM in night and after taking dinner I used to spend sometime to rejoice myself on social media. If you are in a relationship then also you can continue that until your partner is supporting ( I am not much expert in this field though i did had a g.f during my prep days). I think I have given much gyan on this topic and rest you all are grown up and are aware about yourself. So, we will start in the next chapter. “ A true friend resides in yourself , you have to search for it”

********

CHAPTER 5 MANAGING DISTRACTIONS Hare Krishna! So, in the previous few chapters I have discussed the importance of a solid start and preparation strategy before you begin the actual preparation. So now you have made a strategy that how will you work, you have redefined your daily schedule, you are now fully prepared to start the studies with your full potential and swing. But wait as I have discussed in the previous chapter that stop procrastination as soon as possible, stop wasting your time, focus more on studies , avoid distractions . These things are easy to write but aren’t they tough to implement. As I have told you earlier they only sounds easy but are very difficult and tough to implement in daily life even for a day and here I am talking to follow it for a year or two. So, You might now have started feeling like you are unable to give your best and still procrastinating things , still moving out without reason etc. Then you are not alone everyone(not all though) will go through the same face once they have started. You are not a kind of yogic monk who have full control over his senses , you are just an ordinary being so these things are bound to happen with everyone. One positive thing is that you have started it , you are trying to focus on studies instead of playing games and moving outside. You are one among few who have started their preparation and believe me you are on a road to success if you will carry the same momentum forward. I have motivated you much with my those kind words , but still I haven’t solved your major problem i.e. How to manage the distractions? So, let me elaborate in detail how the human psychology works and what is sub - conscious mind.(Indeed I am neither a psychologist nor I am an expert I am writing what I have studied).A human brain is a very complex machine which works with emotions and natural intelligence. Wait! why I am discussing this out of context stuff here ? Actually habits are basically a part of human psychology and will help you in making you a good habit if you know the mechanism. At first when you were

just a general student of college without any major target ahead you were chilling out without much focus on studies, your brain had habit to see it as normal. neuron networks were formed in the brain for those habits. But now you are changing those habits and adapting a new life style so it started becoming difficult for brain to make new networks rather than using the previous networks. So when you start doing a new work again and again your brain gets used to with it and no longer becomes uncomfortable with that work. So, you can now understand as you have started following a new lifestyle why you are no longer feeling good and finds it difficult to go with such new habits which you were not used to earlier. So, making new habits requires time and effort to. As your brain is making this as habit you have to do those stuffs regularly. At this stage when you have just started your preparation you are feeling difficulty in going to coaching daily after college or self-preparing questions and concept regularly. Just one advice from me is that don’t leave or back out from here you have came along way and it’s not the time to back out from this. Just do those things again and again daily without skipping any day. I can guarantee you that within a month you start loving these things. You will start feeling enthusiastic to learn new topics in coaching. You feel over joyed when you you start solving tougher questions from the books. You will no longer get distracted from your path after few weeks as this is your new normal to go with for the time being. Now, The next question may come from you is that - I am adapted with my routine . I enjoy reading solving studying the concepts and questions but some times several unavoidable distractions come in my path which I can’t avoid like marriage of any relative, friends forcing me to go out(especially when you live in a hostel this happened to me),going out with my friends or even watching latest movies occasionally. What should I do if on a particular day this things happened and at the end of the day I was unable to study due to this . I felt depressed that I wasted my time and unable to give it to studies. So my dear friend don’t over think this things are bound to happen occasionally and you can’t avoid them. As you have to do this for the sake of your relation with others as we are social animals. So, this occasional things won’t impact and hamper your studies much as I believe that some times its better to take a day-off from work it elevates your mood and next day you will give better too. Remember when you were child you might had felt on

the ground at least once and started crying . But the next thing you do is you immediately stand up and look out for your wounds the fall has caused to you , and you immediately go to your home for first aid from your mommy or parents. This example explains the situation a lot. As when you spend you time in those stuffs apart from studies you might be feeling sad even after attending this events for few days due to loss of time you have planned for something else which you can’t. So forget that you have wasted that day or that week think like you have enjoyed those moments which gave you pleasure and what else is most joyful than taking pleasures from the moments you have lived. So , you haven’t wasted it you just enjoyed that and now it’s your duty to forgot those things and focus on the present day that you have. Apart from this few things one thing I would also like to focus more on is choose your friends wisely not in this context only but as a general advice. You might have your previous college friends with whom you used to spend time and enjoy a lot. But now that time has gone in the past you have a bigger goal to achieve it and if your friends are creating distractions for you then just cut off from them till you get that success. You might be thinking how selfish I am and what kind of values I am displaying saying those harsh words but Man! Believe me you have to take those steps in future too just for the sake of your responsibility. I am not saying that make all your friends as your enemies, harass them or abuse them I am just saying if anyone who is distracting you giving negative thoughts or even killing your precious time then you have to avoid that person. But if the friend is real he can understand your concern and instead of distracting you he will guide you through , he will motivate you . A true friend is the most loving gift anyone can have and a true friend will never try to distract you from your goals . If he is doing it then believe me he is not your friend , he is just considering you as just a person to kill time with. In Sri Ramcharitmanas a Chaupai is there regarding this thing , that we have to immediately abandon a fake friend and poison as soon as possible, because they are even more harmful than you enemy. Now, you might have got a little idea how to manage your distractions. If still you are getting distracted then try to forcefully avoid those distractions. Distractions occurs only if you are thinking of other things apart from your goal. So, instead always try to focus your mind on your goal so that irrelevant thoughts have no place to acquire in your mind room. You will see the results after trying to focus that you are no longer acquired with those thoughts

which distract you from your goal. Even you can try to meditate for some time if you are unable to give focus to your studies . Meditation is a useful tool for everyone not just for the persons who are spiritual . I would suggest you to meditate in the morning before the breakfast this will keep your mind focused and avoid it from getting distracted. If you are a spiritual being then its like a golden lining for you. You can pray to the almighty to give you enough strength yo fight off those devils. I am not writing these things from my imagination what me and my friends have experienced all those things I am providing you with whatever memory of those things I have. I am giving all the experience I had during the preparation days that will help you in breaking the boundary and getting a colorful success. I hope you are taking my words seriously and getting yourself prepared for the challenges ahead. See you in the next chapter till then you can apply all those techniques to manage your work - distraction balance. Note:- Before moving to next chapter please read this text and earlier one carefully so that you can get enough time to prepare yourself for the journey ahead and follow all those mentioned points in these chapters. All the best! “No one can become perfect , continuous trying and grinding takes you closer to perfection”

CHAPTER 6 PERFORMANCE(UPS & DOWNS) Hare Krishna! So in the previous chapter, we have discussed managing the distractions that come on the way to your success. So, it must be now clear that distractions are unavoidable ;the only thing that we can do is focus on our work rather than thinking useless stuff. So now I am assuming that if you are an aspirant, then before coming to this chapter you have read the previous ones and now you are in a position where the things I will be mentioning here are bound to happen. So, you are preparing well , either from coaching or by self-preparation. But in both of the cases you all might have started noticing that sometimes you feel very confident about any topic and can solve most formidable of the questions. Still, in few chapters you feel very low or even avoid going through those chapters. On a random day, you can solve a good amount of questions quickly, and the same questions might take hectic work and time to get solved on another day. And there are many other scenarios that you come across forcing you to think regarding your performance. So, the question which arises here is - Am I going in the right way? as my performance keeps on fluctuating like the sine graph. Yes, my friend you are on a very right path and this is normal. Performance is just the measure of your hard work and if you are working hard then believe me performance will keep fluctuating but the average of your performances will always rise gradually. If you have solved any test related to any topic(I hope majority of students haven’t taken any test till now as it’s very early) you might have experienced that your performance fluctuated a little in different topics. So, ups and downs in performance is just temporary in the initial period and will vanish as your preparation progress. So if you are going with the down period of your performance like you are giving hell of an effort but still getting very low output, then no need to worry just give the input and result will show automatically after a span of time. You might have noticed that sometimes your performance increases

exponentially even though you are giving very less effort due to some reasons, and this is only possible due to the hard work and effort you gave. So, remember it’s a slow process of stabilizing the performance. You don’t have to panic just work as you do on a normal day even if you are going with the tough period. Here, I will be discussing some FAQs related to performance . Q.> How do i keep track of my performance? Ans:- The most simple way to check whether your performance is increasing with your efforts is to give topic-wise tests regularly and note down the marks. So, that after a week you can see whether the marks are increasing or not. This is the most general and easy way to do so. Q.>What to do if my performance keeps on decreasing? Ans:- It may be possible that your performance is just decreasing for a short period of time(downfall in the performance) and will surely increase exponentially after that. Keep tracking the scores of the tests and if after some period it’s still decreasing then you must be doing something wrong. Change the way of your study. I will be discussing this in detail. Q.> So should I start giving tests ? Ans:- Yes, you can! But remember give only when you have acquired enough skills in that particular topic. I will be discussing in detail regarding this topic. So, I have mentioned here regarding tests. What is this? I have suddenly started giving much focus on this topic. I guess it’s something which may be very important that’s why even before mentioning about it I have used this term to measure your performance. Don’t panic guys it’s just a kind of regular handy exams which will prepare you the most for the original battle. It’s not the topic to discuss here. So, we will discuss it in the next chapter. I have talked much on increasing performance and managing the fluctuations. So now it’s time for me to give you some “Gyaan”haha. I mean I will be giving some tips here regarding your initial journey. Some tips that I can give to you so that you may not feel like your performance is stagnant or even decreasing.

*The foremost point is that stop comparing yourself with others(Which I did a lot and at last found misery only). You may like comparing yourself with the topper and see whether you are going good or not it’s normal and I recommend you to do that but over-comparison might led you to anxiety as it may be possible that person with whom you are comparing yourself is much more advanced in his skills related to the topic and you as a noob is nowhere around him(yes, after some time you can even beat him). *Never get your morale down in tougher times even if you are finding it difficult to understand the topic or give enough time to that topic due to your college work or any other work. You might think of giving up that topic but my friend it’s always not that easy. Some topics need dedication and time in any field to get a proper understanding ofit. Remember Rome was not built in a day. So have patience and work hard until you get to your way where you wanted to be. Performance is just mere an index to show whether your hard work. Performance may not always justify your work. So, don’t feel down if your luck is not with you for some time rather take it as a challenge to prove your luck that hey! Sweet baby I can change you. No, I am not talking useless here as many consider luck as the most deciding factor but according to me it’s hardly countable if you have worked hard. Even luck changes when you start working for your dreams. I can tell you a story if you want related to this. I hope you all will want and even if you don’t then also I will tell (just humor). I had worked very hard for almost two years with varying performance but at the end I felt ill in the month of April. So, I have to leave studies for nearly 4 months completely. But even after this thing I scored good as my luck followed me. I will write this story in later chapters . So, remember hard work with passion is the only thing you can do to get your performance under check and thus, overall increasing your chance to get to your dream college. And at last the only thing that will matter is your result neither your test scores nor your performance will count at the time of preparation(though they are important to keep a track) " Your best performance will always give you the favorable result "

CHAPTER 7 ARE TESTS IMPORTANT? Hare Krishna! As we have discussed regarding the performance enhancing technique and its evaluation, that is whether your overall performance is increasing or not via giving tests. So, I will be discussing in detail regarding the importance of tests. So in childhood, you all have given various tests, whether it was a unit test, a class test or some others. You all had fear for them during those days as if you scored less then you were scolded by parents , teachers etc. So fear for them is logical and justified during your school times. But, these tests which you will give during preparation is not of the same kind, so anyone who still have fear for giving tests should not worry now. As, giving tests and evaluating your performance is the most important thing as an aspirant you can do. So, instead of having fear for giving tests you should motivate yourself to give more and more tests. Start by giving topic wise tests and then proceed to section tests and then at last mock tests. These things will be discussed in detail later in this chapter. Now, I will be answering some questions or FAQs related to this topic. Q.> How important is giving topic wise tests? Ans:- Evaluating yourself in between your preparation gives you the sense of direction of where your prep is going. Like if you are giving tests regularly whether topic wise or mixed, then you will get a clear idea about what are your weaknesses where your strength lies. Which mistakes you are committing the most (especially the calculation mistakes) or whether your hard work has started giving you results. So, reading all these you can conclude in yourself that tests are essential in preparations. Never skip them. These tests will increase your two tools-SPEED and ACCURACY. Remember these tools are the front line warriors for your preparation. The more advanced these skills are the more chances of getting selection is there for any exam.

Q.> When should I start giving tests? Ans:- The answer to this question is pretty simple but yet complicated. Start giving as soon as you feel enough confident to give. So, the ambiguity is how soon? Or, how much confident is needed to give. I can answer this question as this happened with me too. I was anxious before starting to give the topicwise tests. But as soon as I gave my first test which I still remembered was of trigonometry I started feeling enough confidence and my anxiety and fear disappeared. So the answer to this question is after completing your first topic from mathematics or reasoning etc. Start giving the test for that topic and give enough tests so, that all questions related to that topic are covered at the basic level. Don’t consider it as the topic is over as after few weeks you have to give the tests for the same topic covering more advanced questions. So, finally I can conclude that after covering basic maths and your first topic in any subject start giving the topic wise tests. Q.> Which tests are more important ? Topic-wise or sectionwise(covering various topics) Ans:- At the beginning you should focus on topic wise tests as they will boost your understanding for that topic and also will cover a lot of basic questions for that topic if you are giving it daily for one or two week(depending on the length of that topic). Moving forward if you have given enough topic wise tests and now in a position to understand and handle a wide array of questions you can start giving the section-wise or multiple topic questions whether of reasoning or maths or computer or English. So, at the beginning focus on basic maths and topic wise questions and then proceed to section-wise. SEC-A Now after reading various FAQs you have a basic understanding of importance of giving tests. But do you know why everyone focus much on giving tests rather than studying or practicing the topic more and more until your expertise(especially the serious aspirants)? When you solve the particular type of questions from a book which indeed is important as it will give you the first insight with the topic you are studying, you solve it as a whole. It means the question from particular topic in a book are divided such that you are solving at first basic then advanced but it takes a lot of time. And even there is no time constraint so you take much time in

solving any question. And even its not possible for everyone to solve 50 questions in 1 hour daily related to that topic. So, what we do is after solving 10-15 questions we quit and assume that we have now much understanding of that topic. But when we do our evaluation by giving tests topic-wise, it helps in solving wide variety of questions in ample amount of time which is impossible while we are solving any book. So the standard questions are solved through book and normal and tricky questions are usually asked during topic-wise tests. Few more important skills which get enhanced while giving topic wise tests is speed and accuracy. This two things are two wheels of your preparation, which you will use ahead with time. As you will proceed forward you will find that your speed and accuracy is giving you backseat. It occurs due to lack of practice. There is no such tool which will help you to increase your speed and accuracy. The only thing that can help is how sincerely you are practicing and giving tests so that your throughput gets increased. The more you will practice the better your these skills will get with time. So, the most ideal way to practice enough questions is through giving tests and evaluating your performance. Give as much as tests possible. If you have joined a coaching then its not your headache to give tests as those institutes know when and where to take a test. So, here those aspirants who have joined a coaching gets benefit. They give ample amount of tests so that even without proper studying any topic those tests give them enough idea about that(I never recommend giving test before studying that topic but some students use this tactic). So, if you are preparing by self-study you might now be thinking that what should I do then? How I will manage giving tests. This question will be answered in the next section of the chapter. As of now, Start giving tests as you are now a serious aspirant(I hope so) and You have to do that . SEC-B So students, I have discussed the importance of giving tests and why they are important in the previous section. Self-preparing students might have a doubt, like from where they can give tests? Should they purchase any book where they can give the tests or should they join any coaching ASAP. My answer is NO you don’t need to do that. The only thing you have to do is purchase a complete test series of any coaching which you found suitable( I will

personally recommend INPS as I was the student of that institute and I felt that they make their test series seriously and sincerely though I don’t know about other coaching you can refer Appendix part-1 of this book for that). A problem here is that test series are little expensive and not everyone is able to afford that according to me(3k to 5k average cost). So, I can suggest you a cheaper substitute for that which is available on Play Store for Android. This is an App which is named as EDUGORILLA, I am not promoting this app just I am telling because I had used that during my preparation days. You can purchase the subscription of NIMCET tests from their where you will get enough test materials in under 500 cost.(I think it costs around 300 you can check it on Play Store as of 2021). This app is fantastic if you are a selfpreparing aspirant. So, after purchasing the test series your burden is over now you have to use the money which you have spent on the series wisely. As aspirants who are taking coaching usually have to give the series forcefully but you are preparing by self so you have to maintain the discipline to give the test series regularly . The most important thing is self-discipline which is equally important for both types of aspirants. So maintain your daily schedule of giving tests and record the marks you are scoring in each test. Analyze the negative marks you are getting , calculation mistakes you are doing and the time you are taking to solve each question. ANALYSING THE TEST RESULTS IF you are going to any coaching or studying from videos or by yourself just remember one thing after giving any test and getting the score of that test, the most important thing after score is the negative marks you are getting. As NIMCET is an exam where negative marking is there so, you can’t afford much negative marking as they will decrease your score drastically. Getting an eye on negative marking will improve your overall accuracy gradually as you will analyze how you are getting those questions wrong and even will increase you speed. The next thing you should look upon is your number of questions attempted. This thing will let you know how fast you are in a test. If you are attempting very few questions try to practice more. So analyzing the test result is as important as giving the test. At last try to solve every question after giving your test even by seeing its solution.

“Self-discipline is the most fruitful teacher” ********

CHAPTER 8 MY EXPERIENCE (COACHING VS SELFPREP) Hare Krishna! So, till now what I have discussed is related to starting days of preparation and early strategy as well as long time plan for NIMCET preparation. If you are a student who is preparing for sometime now and you have got this book after that, then you may think that till now you haven’t found any content much relevant to you. So, I can clarify that you are thinking correct as of now what I have discussed is just for the beginners and from this chapter I will discuss in much detail regarding the preparation strategy. SEC-A First I will tell you my experience i.e. What I learned from my preparation. What mistakes I have done which you can avoid etc. So, I did my graduation from Lucknow university. I completed my BCA in the year 2020 and gave entrance exams in the same year. After that, I took admission in NIT Trichy and as of now(while writing this book) I am in my first year of MCA. So, that was a brief intro of myself. I started my preparation when I was in 2nd year of my graduation. When I started my preparation I wasn’t much aware about this exam. All I know was that this exam is much related to Mathematics than Computer science(Yes, At that time I was shocked after seeing this). I watched YouTube when I was in my 1st year regarding NIMCET to gain some info regarding coaching for NIMCET. So, I joined INPS Lucknow in AUG 2018. I was not much inclined towards self-study as my mathematics was never that good and I had no confidence at that time to give this National level exam with self study. So, I didn’t want to lose this chance of getting into my dream college. Joining coaching was clear at that time (Due to my weak grip on mathematics). Thus after joining this institute I started my preparation. The initial days were not

as I expected. As, after joining this coaching I was very enthusiastic (Even more than after I got my results of NIMCET).But after initial few days my whole confidence and energy rolled back. Like, I was never acquainted with studying for more than 1 hour and more important studying mathematics for that much time. So, after studying for 2.5 hours in coaching with( all of my efforts) I go to home and sleep(I wasn’t used to study at that time).I still remember Nitin sir(INPS coaching director) used to tell us that whatever you have studied you must revise it at home. But, I hardly did that during initial days. Like that things passed and after 2-3 months I started lagging behind. As, I wasn’t revising anything till now so, whatever I studied in coaching nothing stays in my mind and I was unaware of that thing till now that you have to study by self of any new concept that is being taught at coaching. Unaware about this thing I was shocked when Sir started taking tests of older topics which he had taught earlier. I was very much focused and sincere in class. So, whatever was being taught I just grasped it and then after giving tests of that topic I scored well frequently. Till then I was not even aware that you have to make notes too in proper format for every topic you study. I was just using a rough book in which I solved questions and made notes too. Now, after getting shocks from my bad performance in tests of the units which I forgot earlier I decided to revise those topics which is being taught not regularly but yeah, occasionally. I started revising the topics which I had forgotten. Now, my performance started to increase. I faced several problems though in between understanding new topics(Like trigonometry,Algebra,Coordinate geometry etc), but somehow I managed to understand those things. But I wasn’t able to score well in those tests as I followed the approach to solve each and every question from proper method which took time and never used short cuts and tricks which I learned later on So, in the month of February when our coaching started taking mock tests I gave my first complete mock test in which I was not able to score well my Marks were around 380. I still remember I was not prepared but I wanted to give those tests. As, I was a second year student So, I hadn’t completed my syllabus(only 50 percent syllabus I had completed because I was not regular in coaching). But I started giving mocks and with time my performance improved even without studying calculus I was able to solve the questions by giving mock tests only, as questions were repeated and I learnt them . So, here you can see mock tests give you a lot more than mere practice. The highest score was 550 at that time when I was in second year. And after

giving my last mock in April 2019, I took a leave as my 4th semester exams were coming. So, in the month of may I took a pause on my preparation and I went home after giving exams and my second year ended. In this way I completed my 1 year of preparation. If you are in 1st year or 2nd year the only advice I can give you is that start your preparation(if you have enough time after college as in my case I had). Starting preparation from 2nd year via a coaching or self-study will give you an ample amount of time to make yourself prepared for the final year preparation. What I learnt from my 2nd year experience is that It acted as a buffer time where I studied according to my mood like even I bunked classes and I had no fear of exam at that time. I utilized my second year by correcting all the mistakes and evaluating myself about how much time I should give to get the best of my self when I will be preparing in 3rd year. It also helped me in understanding the preparation strategy and I learnt a lot from my seniors who were in their final year at that time. I also made a role model from my coaching from whom I gained much experience and seek help. His name is Ajay Pandey bhaiyaa(AIR-12 NIMCET-2019). I learnt a lot from him. He was the person from whom I got my motivation to study harder. When I was in my second year I still remember I admired him for his performance in mock tests. He was exceptional and I wanted to perform like him which I really never did. So, when I went to third year I always took reference from his performance to know where I am standing and How I am performing. He also gave me tips which helped me a lot . Some points to mention which I found beneficial for me after joining coaching in my second year:1. Early start 2. Buffer time which you can utilise in creating a solid foundation 3. Motivation and guidance 4. Analysing how toppers study and what you can do 5. Healthy Competition One more thing I would like to say is that I am not telling everyone to enroll yourself in any coaching or start self study from 2nd year only as its not possible for everyone due to their hectic college schedule. This is for those

students who have enough time in their 2nd year and are not doing anything important apart from college. This time they can utilise in preparation as it will not harm to start early. If you are in 3rd year/drop out then also its not difficult to prepare all you need is a good strategy and hard work. Even some students who prepare for a year perform better than many others. Its never too late. Majority of students prepare only for 1 year. I am just giving my opinion for early start in preparation for those who have time. If you are in 3rd year or so your part I will be discussing next. Now, after my 2nd year preparation I returned back again to join my coaching and this time even with greater discipline, dedication and enthusiasm. After I returned back I analysed 2019 NIMCET paper which was by far the most difficult paper ever asked in NIMCET. I hardly managed to solve 25 questions from mathematics and 15 from reasoning(I didn’t saw other sections). I was feeling morally down after seeing this paper. But, after talking to Nitin sir, he told me to start preparing at that level where the paper was asked from. So I started my preparation and this time with no carelessness. Sir mentored me regarding my strategy which I will be following ahead and told me to target for Rank-1. He told me to give maximum amount of time to studies. I started in month of June in 2019. I was that much dedicated towards my studies in those days that even I didn’t attended my brother’s marriage though I went there in party because of my parents pressure . I was doing well , my performance increased exponentially and to increase it further I started solving questions from other books which are used in JEE preparation. I was preparing hard , I deactivated my social media accounts, I cutoff from my friends, I hardly went outside (though occasionally I went for night out after studying), I hardly laughed due to my focus(earlier I used to be a jolly person), I even started eating once(That was the most silly thing I did). I studied till late night(4 A.m.) and sleep till afternoon. This habits started getting toll on my health. I started feeling weak(mentally and physically which I never had experienced). But inspite of all these things I continued my preparation with same will and grit. I was performing well and was determined to crack NIMCET with good rank. I started solving JEE mains mock to boost up my confidence in the month of March-2020. Then due to Covid-19 lockdown was imposed nationwide. I was in my hostel alone and didn’t went to home. I started utilizing this time by solving more mocks from Edugorilla and other websites for NIMCET and JEE. Then my health detoriated which was not good at all since months. I

was diagnosed with depression and other health issues. I was not in a condition to see any book. As, I was very weak so whole day I just did nothing. For 5 months from from April to August I hardly studied anything as I was not able to do. From September I started feeling better and got in touch with my studies. NIMCET was in October So, I had got a month to revise what I have studied in 2 years. The best thing which I considered here is due to my dedication for preparation Even though I left studies from 5 months nothing seemed new when I started. As, I had practiced a lot that those things were well fed in my mind and till now I haven’t forgotten them. So, I would recommend everyone to practice a lot as it will help you to increase your memory power. So, in 1 month I just revised everything and then gave my exams and performed well. So, the main motive of writing my personal story here is that to let you know some mistakes any one can perform in the time of preparations. First of all the most important thing to consider is that mental and physical health is the foremost thing all the aspirants should take care off. Its is good to have dedication towards your work but with your work give equal importance to your health too. Without a healthy body and healthy mind you can’t excel. So, always include exercises in your daily routine both for mental and physical health. In these times of pandemic you all must be anxious regarding your exams dates some of you might have left the hope to crack it even if you had started well. So, what I would suggest be happy and perform your works without much thought on the outcome as It will take toll on your mental health. In these time keeping a good mental health should be given the most priority. It was the mistake I had performed which I had to pay thanks to god he helped me at the last. Second important thing is that always be dedicated towards your work and never cheat yourself. You can betray others but you can’t betray yourself. So, when you start your preparation in third year just focus on concepts and learning those things. No need to hurry up for scores and performance they will gradually rise, if you are studying well. Some points to mention which I learnt from my 2 years of preparation experience are:1. Give your best no matter the results 2. Always be reserved when you are studying 3. Focus on concepts

4. Solve more and more questions 5. Mock tests and topic wise tests are important 6. Maintain your health So, whatever I have discussed reading these will be helpful for all of you. I have discussed everything from my preparation strategy. Now I will be discussing regarding problems I solved and how much time I gave for solving questions in the next section. SEC-B So far I have discussed only a rough idea about preparing for NIMCET. In this section I will be giving in details of which kind of books I solved and what was my approach. So, coming first I will first tell you How I maintained My notes of various topics and concepts. And how many note books I made for noting them so that I can revise carefully and easily from them. I actually made 3 notebooks for mathematics and 1 each for reasoning , english and computer. In reasoning and computer whatever concepts and topics that were taught in coaching I noted them down and solved few questions that were important in those notebooks. In english too I did the same. For mathematics I did made 3 notebooks. In first notebook I wrote the concepts and formulas for the topic which was taught in the class. In my second notebook I solved all the important questions related to that topic. In third notebook I noted down the questions that need to be learnt which are lengthy and tricky. I also made one more copy at the end to note down frequently used formulas so that I can revises easily whenever needed. I Solved R.D. Sharma objective at home and other books too for mathematics(like universal self scorer, Arihant JEE topic wise books etc). I solved JEE previous year questions too at the end of my preparation which helped me a lot. I also solved reasoning and quant questions from my coaching materials (Though I purchased RS Aggarwal verbal and non-verbal which I never solved). I focused more on coaching sheets and tests to build my concepts. After solving sheets I solved R.D. Sharma solved examples which were indeed tricky and conceptual. I never solved any book completely. As, I focused less on reasoning section So, at the end in NIMCET I didn’t performed well in that section inspite of performing exceptionally well in maths which decreased my rank(I was

expecting in top-3). So, I can recommend you to focus on reasoning section too, to boost up your marks. For computer you can study it from YouTube from channels like(OneStop MCA etc.). For English you can read editorials from english newspaper daily. It will also boost up your current affairs and vocab too.So in these ways I solved and prepared for different sections. Now, I will discuss some thing more on self study vs coaching. In the next section. SEC-C(Self-Study vs Coaching) So, If you are studying from any coaching or self-preparing then also all those points which I have discussed earlier is beneficial for all. In the previous chapters I have discussed How self-preparation should be done. So, you have an idea about it. If you have enrolled yourself in any coaching for that also I have discussed those things. So here, I will be discussing about how both are different and yet you can follow the same approach to get the results in both the cases. If you are any student of any coaching then you have less burden on yourself because you will be provided with all the necessary study materials and tests. The only thing which is needed from you is your dedication and hard work. But if you are self studying then you have to go through different books , Internet, YouTube to search for any topic. So, here a little over head occurs for you. But it will not create any difference if you have confidence on yourself. You can watch Mohit Tyagi sir JEE lecture videos and solve R.D. Sharma to get good grip on mathematics. Rest you have to give tests to boost you scores and perfomances. If you want to learnd tricks and tips to boost your over all score then later on I will be discussing those things too. So, a self studying student has an equal chance with a student who is enrolled with a coaching. It need hard work a little more . So, focus on your studies rather than thinking about outcome. “Results are mere a bi-product of hard-work and dedication”

CHAPTER 9 BOOSTING UP SCORES(TRICKS) Hare Krishna! In the previous chapter I have discussed my experience of preparing for NIMCET, things which helped me,books and text materials which I had studied and also the mistakes which I did and you all can avoid. So, in brief you are now nearly aware about everything that needed to be done for getting maximum output in this exam. But, still I have left few major things for this and next few chapters and I shall be discussing it with you. So let’s move ahead and start them. SEC-A One of the most asked question is How do I increase my score in tests and mocks? I am only able to do 30 or 25 questions in mathematics or reasoning section and rest I have to leave it knowingly due to time constraint. So, this is a common problem which majority of students face while preparing for NIMCET and MCA entrance exams. While I also faced the same thing during my preparations days but I tackled with it easily after knowing the trick to solve fast. The most basic solution for this problem is to practice a lot . This will automatically increase your speed and accuracy . As the more you practice the better your question bank will get as more questions means more types of questions you know to solve fast. Sometimes the same question repeats in the exams which are very common and you can just tick the answer without wasting the time as you have solved it earlier. So, if you will practice a lot of different types of questions by giving tests and solving books you will get better. There is no other solution more reliable than this one. As practice makes a man perfect(Wow! What a quote I just wrote). Remember the same thing which I have told you earlier i.e., Focus on accuracy rather than speed, the more accurate you will be better you will get the output. Try to make the least mistakes and also focus on better questions rather than solving easier ones when you are practicing. If you will be more precise, it’s possible to get good marks by doing fewer questions. It may be possible that you managed to solve all questions, but half of them are incorrect due to your speed. Speed

is necessary but work on it only after you are confident enough on your accuracy. Its always better to be more accurate than getting faster. One thing I will tell is if you are accurate enough then you will be faster automatically because there will be no doubt in your mind on previous question you just solved accurately. So, you will use all your skills on the next question. Now, the next thing to mention is that even if you are solving every question you are getting in the paper by proper genuine method then it may be possible that you will lag behind others. So, the most important thing you can do is just make a notebook of frequently asked questions from previous year papers , mock tests and JEE mains question bank. And solve them all regularly so that all the answers of those questions are in your mind. The next time you will face that question the only thing you have to do it is just select the answer from the options easily. Trust me this method works and I am not asking you to scan the answers and store in in your memory. I am asking you to solve it many times so that you just learn those answers. If you are planning to learn all those questions by heart then no matter how intensively you have learned it, you will forgot it when the time demands those answers. So, instead of learning just solve it and revise it thoroughly on regular basis. The next thing is that keep al the concepts and formulas on your toung so that whenever needed in the mock or exam you can just apply it without getting confused. If you have those concepts and formulas on your active memory then it will be easier for you. The only thing which can be done to make it possible is to revise regularly. Many students complaint that they forget the older taught concepts and topics and aren’t able to solve and use them when asked in tests. So, folks you have to revise on a regular basis, each and everything (concepts, topic, formulas, Imp. Questions etc) you have studied till now. I personally did that thing on Sunday when my coaching was usually off. So you can also pick up a day in a week and give that time for revision. Yeah! Its cumbersome and boring task but it is very important. So, do regular revision. Some students face problem of time shortage and time division dilemma for different sections. Due to this they have to leave various questions of different sections unattempted inspite of knowing them. Also, they don’t pick the good questions which are easy to solve and waste their time on harder and more difficult ones and at last end up on getting wrong answers. So the most

precise solution for this is just scan your question paper before solving it for first 5 minutes and decide which questions you need to solve. If the paper is in online mode then also you can note the question numbers which are easy to solve. Always start solving from the easier ones, then if possible solve more difficult ones. As it will give you confidence and it may be possible you end up solving even the tougher problems easily. It works on every section of paper. The most ideal time division for different sections according to me is as follows:1 hour for maths, though you can increase it for 10 minutes if you are solving questions which easy (I used 1 hour 15 minutes in NIMCET exam for this section) Next 30 minutes for reasoning. Next 10 minutes for english and 15 minutes for computer. It’s not always like that you may increase or decrease 5 to 10 minutes from each section according to your needs at that time. If you Don’t know anything in computer then just leave it without wasting your time. First start solving from maths section as it contains majority of marks, Then after solving it move to the reasoning part or even (English and computer sections) then you can give few time for revision at last. It may be possible you may able to solve 2-3 questions at last(I did solved 2 questions from maths at the last moment). In reasoning section, you have to pick the questions which are one liners like quant. Section or age and direction problems. Generally more than 10 questions are of this types every year. Then move to puzzle part which contains more questions(It may be possible you are unable to solve the leave the puzzle). Always focus on shorter questions in reasoning part, this will save your time. Switch to puzzles at the end. In english if you don’t know anything then you can use your luck here. As only -1 marking is there for incorrect question then by simple probability it may be possible you will get 1 marks after solving 4 questions randomly. So, you can use your luck if you don’t know anything there. If you know 4-5 questions then tick only them and leave the rest. Generally small passages are there and you can answer the questions easily if you are average in english language and not so fluent. For computer section everything will depend on your hard work and I can’t give much short cuts here. Syllabus is not vast here so you can easily study

everything and tick the answers after solving them. So, if you want a sure selection in NIMCET then focus to solve as much as questions possible with less negative marking. Here every marks count.

Now, I have discussed everything to increase your marks but where those tricks. After reading them you may ask yourself that this things are general, I want something new. So students tricks are also there to increase your question count. I will be discussing some of them here as it is not feasible to discuss everything but you will get an idea of how they works and you can develop your own too. SEC-B So, I will be discussing here some tricks to boost your score even further. Generally, when we solve any question from the general or genuine method if we don’t know the answer(i.e. We haven’t solved the problem earlier) it may take 2-3 minutes or even more to get the answer. So, here you will always get the right answer if you have solved it correctly. But, what if you don’t want to solve this question or you didn’t know to solve it or you want to save the time then there is a method of REJECTION where you can reject all the options that are not valid for any particular value (Here we use method of mathematical Induction to reject. If the option is wrong for any value of N then it’s not the answer). We generally use this method in particular type of questions like algebra, co-ordinate geometry , calculus etc. For example: Q.> Find the sum to N terms of the series : 1+8+27+...+(n3) A) N2 B) (N*(N-1))/2 C) ((N*(N+1))/2)2 D) N4 + N3 - 72 Here, we generally reject the options by putting N=2 or 3 in each option like for n=3 we have sum of series as 36 So, if we put n=3 in A) it comes as 9 so we reject it. Put n=3 in B) it comes as

3 so reject it . Put n=3 in C) it comes to 36. So its the answer right ? No, wait it’s not the method of selection it’s method of rejection. It may be possible the other options too satisfies for N=3 like if we put N=3 in D) it too satisfies . So now, we have to check for N=2 for option C) and D) and then we can reject option D) and hence, Out answer is C). Likewise we can apply this method in other question of algebra , determinants , quad. Eqtns , trigonometry , complex number etc. Let’s see another example for trigonometry? Q) what is the value of sin2 20 + sin2 40 + sin 60 + sin 270 + sin250 ? A) 6 B) -1 C) 0 D) None of this So , here you can see that option A) can never be the right answer as there are only 5 terms in the question and max value of sin is 1 so max value can never exceed 5 for sum of 5 sines hence, 6 can’t be the answer. Option B) can be seen as -1 which is also not possible as there are only positive terms in the series i.e. All four terms are square of sines which will be positive only and sin 60 is in first quadrant so it can’t be negative so hence -1 can’t be the answer similarly 0 also can’t be the answer as none of the term here is negative or zero so answer would be none of these. The problem with this approach here is that we have to put a little effort and decide what value to put and check and it may be possible we are not always able to reject all the options which create further confusion. And if there is none of these kind of option then also this method should not be applied. So , there are few other methods too which can be applied to calculate the answer. Like if we are given a question like Q.) Integrate x2 + sin2x + |x| where x>=0 A) (1/3)*x3 -2cos2x + (1/2)*x2 B) (1/3)*x3 -2cos2x - (1/2)*x2 C) (1/3)*x3 -cos2x - (1/2)*x2 D) NONE of these

So , here if this type of indefinite integration comes then differentiate the option to get the answer. Remember differentiation is always easier than integration. I have taken an example which is very easy to integrate but it may be possible the integration is tough and you can differentiate the option to get the answer. Here none of these option is there but here you are using method of selection as the option which on differentiating gives the question will be the definite answer no need to worry. Also there are several other methods too which you can invent by yourself. It’s not feasible to list all the methods here but these methods are used generally which I have discussed. You can always try to use this method if you are unable to solve the question. But always use this method at the end if you have no other option or you are very confident with this method. I want to say that just always try to get in touch with these kinds of shortcuts as they will always help you and increase your tool set before the exams.

“Work on toughest so that it can get easier ahead”

CHAPTER 10 LAST MOMENTS AND MOCKS Hare Krishna! Students if you have read all the above chapters and have taken it seriously(The tips I have given), then I can assure you, If you will not loose the momentum at this time(I hope you are reading this chapter when NIMCET is nearer and before that this chapter is of no use)then no one can stop to get to your desired college. I hope after reading this and also due to your confidence if you have applied everything what I have told previously you are feeling joyful. But, one thing you have to do now seriously. Start giving mock tests. Now, at this point of time you have studied nearly everything. You have revised much and solved enough books . Even if you haven’t then leave that start giving mock tests seriously and daily(if possible) or weekly/bi-weekly. Last moments are very important before giving any exam. By last moment I am not talking about few days before exams. But, I am talking about 2-3 months before the exam. Like if the exam is in May then from February onwards shift you gears if you have studied everything or not it didn’t matters at this point. Just you have to shift you gears and change your preparation strategy. There are various students who didn’t studied at all previously but they changed their strategy and were able to score good in NIMCET and they went to their desired Colleges. So, if you are a student who haven’t studied anything till now or have studied little then forget everything what you have done till now and focus on the time which is left with you and start preparing for that(remember its a last minute strategy so, if you have enough time and you are reading this chapter then please start studying from the moment only). Last few months are the most important and crucial for preparation point of view. Here, you will either loose the match or you will win it . It all depends upon your strategy which you will follow at the last moment. There are many examples of students who won their last battle despite of an average performance throughout the year and several others are there who

performed outstanding but failed in the finals due to their neglegence at the end. So, even if you know everything then also you can’t quit at this point thinking that you can do well. I will be listing most important things here which you all should do when the exams are near and here goes the list:1. Give regular mock tests 2. Revise daily 3. Note down all those questions which are being asked frequently in a separate notebook and learn them all after solving them 4. Start solving JEE mains previous year question papers (till 2016) if you haven’t started yet 5. Start solving questions by using tricks rather than solving them by genuine method if you can do so 6. Increase your output 7. Study smartly 8. Utilize each and every hour 9. Maintain a healthy lifestyle 10. Meditate (If you want not compulsory) The first thing which you all should do is make a schedule for giving mock tests and follow it strictly(It’s not the time for procrastination) After making this note whether you gonna give 1 or 2 mock tests daily or you are giving them weekly/bi-weekly. Before giving mock test revise those formulas and concepts which you have made in a notebook a day before. Then on that day be prepared just like you are giving it in the exam hall. Sit in a well lighted silent room where less disturbance is there(if possible). Then, utilise each and every minute of your time. Remember if you have finished early then also don’t quit the test just revise each question again and again. It may be possible any mistake can be corrected. Then after finishing it first see your score note it down and then watch for negative marking you have got. Then after finishing this analyse the answer key and see those questions which you haven’t solved. If the question is tough and complex

note down the solution. Giving mock tests is important and more important is analysing them. So analyse it carefully so that you can rectify your mistakes ahead. Now, second most important thing at this point of time is revision. Revision is always important, not only at this end time but throughout your preparation. So, revise daily all those things which you forgot easily and also focus on the easier concepts as they will betray you in the exam if you haven’t revised them. As, I have told to maintain a proper notebook in which you have to wrote down all those questions with answers and solution which are being asked frequently and revise them too. If you are comfortable then learn them also. Start solving previous years JEE mains Questions so that you can solve them easily in exam(Each year 10-15 questions in maths comes from JEE mains). Start solving the easier questions from tricks using the options and other methods so that you can increase your output which will help in increasing your score. Even it may be possible you can solve a tougher question through tricks without going for the solving process which may take some time. So, use those tricks properly so that you can use them in exams. It’s time for you to study smartly as it may be possible you haven’t completed the whole syllabus because of your carelessness at the starting. So, no you have to study smart. Complete the most important chapters first. And after that if you have time left then go for others which you haven’t studied. As there few topics in maths and reasoning from where majority of questions are asked. Go through this list and complete them all before the time runs out. MATHS 1. Co-ordinate geometry 2. Trigonometry(Ratios and identities) 3. Quadratic equations and Sequences & Series 4. Limits and Derivatives 5. Permutations and Combinations 6. Probability Logical and quantitative ability

1. Work and Time 2. Speed and distances 3. Ratios and proportions 4. Profit loss and percentage Computer awareness 1. Logical circuits and gates 2. Number systems 3. Basic computer functions 4. Boolean algebra 5. Solve previous year questions from NIMCET So, if you will complete all these topics in detail then you can easily score good. So, also you can solve previous year NIMCET papers at the end so that if the questions repeat you can easily solve them. The most important thing you have to do here is maintain a healthy schedule. Eat healthy , take enough sleep and do exercises and Yoga. This will increase your efficiency and also you will feel better. As, falling ill is the worst thing you can do here. You can also mediate for 5-10 minutes daily to have a calm and composed mind whole day.

CHAPTER 11 HANDLING EXAMS PRESSURE Hare Krishna! Students I will be keeping this last chapter short. As this chapter is just for improving your confidence and self-belief. You have prepared for a year. You have dedicated a year for this exam and the date has finally arrived. You might be anxious and nervous a day before the exam. You might be thinking all those concepts and formulas are now no where in your mind. You have forgotten everything. If you haven’t studied well then you might be blaming yourself. Forget all those things which you are thinking right now just believe in yourself and keep your confidence high. Just think that you will perform good and you have studied enough to crack this exam. Even if you haven’t studied well then also don’t think about negative aspects just keep yourself positive before the exam. You still haven’t given the exam so don’t be low you can do better than all your previous score. I can give an example of myself, all of the mock tests which I have given I hardly touched 600 once or twice but in exam I believed in myself and got 800 . So it’s never too late. If you are feeling anxious just take a deep breath and close your eyes and stop thinking anything and do it whenever you start feeling nervous , It will help. Now, the time has come to showcase your talent and hard work in 2 hours so be prepared. Reach the examination center before the actual arrival time and go there with everything you need in exam(pen, pencil, eraser, admit card, I-card, Covid essentials(may be) etc.). Don’t panic go there and take your seat and relax. If you are feeling anxious then stop thinking about paper just think of anything random and the time will pass like that. Eat and hydrate yourself properly before going for the exam. A night before exam stop everything you were studying and engage yourself in any fun activity, Take a good night sleep and wake up early so that you might not get late reaching there. If the exam hall is situated in other state or city reach a day before the exam so that you have time to relax. Now after getting the paper , follow all those rules which I have discussed

earlier and start giving the test. To solve on rough use pencil and eraser. As, it may be possible you run out of the rough sheets , so you can erase your previously worked paper and reuse it. Read the instructions carefully as it contains very vital information related to online test and marking scheme. In the year 2020 NIT Raipur has mentioned about answering the questions and where marks will be deducted(Like marks will not be given if you have marked the question for review) and students who haven’t read those instructions have to suffer for it. So please read the instructions carefully. After giving the paper wait for the instructions to leave the hall and after that you may leave. Answer key generally get released in a week time after the exam. You can calculate your marks accordingly and raise your concern if the answer key is wrong for any question you think.

APPENDIX o, after reading this book your majority of doubts must have been cleared and I hope you have liked that. So, keeping in mind of my readers demand too, I have added two parts here :-

S

1. The experience of toppers through their own words(1st part) 2. How Covid affected the current aspirants and tackling it(2nd part) You can read all the toppers experience and go through it as it will help you in clearing more of your doubts. Even if you have no doubts left then also read them as they will provide an insight for your preparations. So let’s go ahead and read them.

TOPPERS SPEAK SIMRAN GARG AIR-3 NIMCET- 2020 “Hi all! I am Simran Garg, I secured AIR -3 in NIMCET 2020. About my experience and strategies that I followed: I came to know about NIMCET when I was in my 4th semester of graduation. I have done B. Sc. (Hons.) CS from DU. I didn't have any plan of doing MCA till the 4th semester. I was more inclined towards pursuing M.Sc. Computer Science, but then I came to know about this exam from some of my seniors. I always have an interest in mathematics, so deciding to opt for an exam in which the central section comprises Mathematics grabbed my full attention. I started weekend coaching for NIMCET at the start of 3rd year. Initially, I used to contribute a reasonable amount of time for the exam prep as there wasn't pressure of college in summer vacations. I covered essential topics in that duration, such as functions, Trigo, etc. I was feeling confident gradually as my graph was inclining. But when college resumed, I couldn't give the required time as I wanted to keep a balance between college and exam prep. Though I didn't stop practicing, I tried solving questions, previous years' papers, along with academics. The time that I got during the lockdown, I utilized it efficiently. I practiced NIMCET last ten years' papers 2-3 times. I kept revising the formulae daily. I prepared a notebook in which I wrote all concepts in brief and formulae. It was my daily routine to peek in that notebook before going to bed. This practice helped me a lot in achieving satisfying results. One more thing that helped me was discussing doubts with my friend. We used to study together (targeting question sheets, solving previous years' papers in 2 hours only on alternate days, resolving queries, and, most notably, sharing new and valuable resources). I believe honest peer learning helps a lot in cracking goals. Have a healthy competition among peers; trying learning good from others. When I wrote the BHU exam, I knew that I need to keep a good pace and accuracy. That exam helped me in evaluating how prepared I was for NIMCET. After giving that exam, I realized that I needed to work more on the reasoning section. After that, I started preparing for DUET - MCA. I had only 20 days, and the syllabus is of graduation level. I referred to YouTube Channels (Bhagwan Singh Vishwakarma, Socratica, and a few more) for preparation. I made notes so that a week before the exam, I could revisit them. Thankfully, the paper difficulty level was moderate, and I attempted 40 questions out of 50. I filled DUET - M.Sc. form but didn't give it due to lack of interest and time constraints. In October 2020, JNUEE - MCA and NIMCET were remaining to write. In JNUEE, I revised some Computer Science subjects like Operating Systems and a little bit DBMS too. Maths was all the same, so I focused on the CS part. After JNUEE, I focused solely on solving as many questions as possible for the final exam NIMCET. I kept my habit of revising formulae intact and didn't delve into new topics (to avoid time wastage and balance confidence). I learned some short tricks for solving Quant questions to do more questions of the maths section).

Consistency and focus are the two pillars that would help achieve your goal possible and successful. Test series are most important; without them, you'll find the difference in the performance. Keep solving questions while taking care of time constraints. P.S. Don't forget to read instructions before starting any exam.”

SAURABH ANAND AIR-26 NIMCET 2020 SELF-PREPARATION “I am Saurabh Anand, I secured AIR 26 in NIMCET 2020. About my journey and preparation: 2020 was my first attempt at NIMCET and I prepared for it along with my 3rd year of BSc. CS (Hons) at DU. I came to know of NIMCET after my 2nd year from some of my seniors, and they recommended me some online institutes for NIMCET preparation, but I got mixed reviews about those from Quora and other sources so I started preparation by myself without any full time coaching following some IIT Jee maths lectures and free resources from YouTube ( Mohit Tyagi sir to be more specific) and solving RD Sharma Objective. With the little time I could spare from my college (while travelling or at weekends) I would watch the lectures and solve some questions but at this point I was just preparing without any proper direction and without any specific aim, just focusing on the concepts. By the end of may 2020 I was not at all prepared for the exam and even some major topics like Conics were pending. Last 4 months preparation strategy: Luckily for me I got time to prepare during lockdown when I consolidated all that I have learned throughout the year in bits and pieces. I also completed the left-out topics. Then came BHU MCA entrance and I was not very well prepared by then, I gave the exam and I was well versed with the concepts, but lacked speed and tricks and ended up leaving 40/120 questions unseen ( Got AIR 225 in BHU ). After analyzing my performance, the thing that was very apparent was that I needed to work on my speed and will need to work on easier questions efficiently as my approach was very theoretical and not suited for exams where speed is crucial. I took a mock test series from Flux Educare and met a few people on telegram, and we would discuss questions from the tests and analyze our approaches. (PS a few of those people secured better rank than me and are my Batchmates in NITT right now). This approach of shifting my preparation from a wider perspective of JEE to more specific questions suited for NIMCET was a key improvement and I could see the results straight away. The test series was the most important resource for me and it helped me improve my speed, practice questions that are more suited for MCA entrances helped me rectify my mistakes and recognize the topics I was not good at. In between I also gave JNU MCA entrance and could see the results of this approach of preparation in time management. (Secured AIR 49) I prepared a diary for these things where I would plan the topics I intend to do for the day, the tests I would solve. Also I would mention the common mistakes I make from each topic and how comfortable I was with each topic so that I don’t end up wasting time on my weak topics during the actual exam. Tip: Solve 2002 to 2016 AIEEE papers as the difficulty back then was very similar to what is asked in NIMCET. Also solve past 10 years NIMCET paper thoroughly and analyze them well. Cracking NIMCET by Self Study is Possible if one is consistent and is learning from his/her mistakes and improving every single day.”

MAYANK KUMAR SINGH

AIR-54 NIMCET-2020 “I Mayank Kumar Singh, secured an AIR-54 in NIMCET-2020 and now currently pursuing MCA from N.I.T Trichy. I started my NIMCET preparations in 2019 from an offline coaching, but wasn't able to attend their classes due to my college schedule and health issues. So, i started preparing by myself for NIMCET and other MCA entrance exams. But in 2020, due to COVID-19 situation and postponement of NIMCET exam i was a bit disturbed. Then, I came to know about ASPIRE STUDY and Shivam Sir, and i joined their online crash course and test series. I was a little weak in maths but Sir's guidance and daily practice helped me a lot to improve myself. Test series of ASPIRE STUDY consisted of three types of tests Full length, Topic wise and Subject wise. Video lectures and materials were very nice and it covered all topics from basic to advance. I attended the regular schedule of the crash course and gave daily test. Then i analysed the given test online and it was very helpful for me to know my mistakes and correct them. I continued following the daily schedule and and gave all three varieties of tests and it increased my confidence and in the actual tests i didn't face any difficulties in solving the paper. At last i would like to thanks Shivam Gupta Sir for motivating me and giving me proper guidance all the time. Mayank Kumar Singh, AIR-54 NIMCET 2020, ASPIRE STUDY”

MANISH NANGLIYA AIR-11 NIMCET 2020 “I

am Manish Nangliya, Secured AIR 11 in NIMCET 2020. I am from Gotan, District: Nagaur Rajasthan. Journey: I can say, this is my journey from AIR 4711 to AIR 11. I have completed my undergraduate in bachelor of science in computer science. when I was in my final year I came to know Nimcet from my college principal. and I applied for Nimcet 2019 without preparation and I got air 4711 in Nimcet 2019. But I was not disappointed with this rank and I can to know about Flux Educare Jaipur and I took offline coaching from there and start preparing. From starting I was only dedicated to Nimcet. Anit sir's (Director of Flux Educare) guidance and proper strategy and execution help me to improve my concepts and solving techniques from noob to advance level. Lockdown situation: Covid pandemic is slightly disturbing. But a group of 2-3 people can help us to avoid this. I also had a group (Now all are batchmates in NITT), we discuss questions and strategy, we gave mocks together after do analyze together. Competition(in a positive way) in that group may motivate us to prepare well. Lockdown is beneficial for me, by the end of May I was not well prepared and in June and July, I completed my revision and start giving mock. and at the end of August, I gave BHU 2020 and I secured AIR 25 that boost my confidence. Tips of attempting mock: First complete the revision of main subjects and start giving mock at least one per day, in last one and half month before the exam and focus on accuracy rather than attempting more. After completion of mock and try to solve those question which you have not attempted or which are wrong and maintain a notebook and revise regularly and write an important question of each mock (From my notebook approx 10-15 questions are in the exam). Suggestions for upcoming batches: Be consistent, be sincere to your studies and mock, and be consistent and dedicated to preparation. Maintain a small diary and write your mistakes which you did in mock and just revise that before attempting mock, so it will prevent you to repeat the same mistakes

again and again. Read instructions of exam before starting exam(For any exam in life not only NIMCET). Manish Nangliya Linkedin @manishnangliya AIR-11 NIMCET 2020 contact 9057080356 AIR-25 BHU 2020”

AKRITI UPADHYAY AIR-13 NIMCET -2020 “Hi, I am Akriti Upadhyay and I secured AIR 15 in NIMCET 2020 I started preparing for NIMCET in June 2019, before that I had no clue that NIMCET even existed. Maths was never my strong suit, I never studied it the way it is supposed to be studied, that is why I have to work a little harder to get a strong foundation on the topics. I used to read NCERT and do its questions while starting any topic. I believe NIMCET is an exam to test your speed more than your problem solving skills, that’s why we are given to solve 120 questions in 120 minutes. So if someone is well versed with the method to solve a particular question, or even better that they have solved the same question before, then they are more likely to mark the correct answer of a particular question just by looking at it, therefore saving a lot of time and this makes a huge amount of difference in an exam like NIMCET. My advice would be not to run after a lot of books in order to solve more questions, try solving only 1-2 books at least 2-3 times. Secondly, seeing the fluctuating difficulty level of the exam, it has become important to solve JEE Mains previous year questions. If you are anything like me then you won’t be able to solve a lot of questions in the first attempt, but it doesn’t matter, understand from the solutions, find better solutions online, and keep going until you are finally able to solve them on your own. Most important thing in every exam preparation is a Test Series. You may not join a coaching, which is totally fine, as they don’t make much of a difference, but a good test series is a must. Give mock tests, evaluate them and work on your weaknesses. Also, never forget about NIMCET Previous year question papers, practice them by heart. Finally, getting a decent rank in any exam is a great achievement. If you want to do something in your life of which you can be proud of yourself, then this is your time. Focus on the exam, give your 100% so that at least you have the satisfaction that you gave your best, and don’t worry about the things you can’t control, just leave everything to the universe. If it is meant to be, it will definitely happen and no one can change that. Last tip: Do not study on the day before your exam, watch your favourite movie instead :)”

MAHIMA PAWAR AIR-235 NIMCET-2020 “I, Mahima Pawar, secured AIR-235 in NIMCET 2020. I will be sharing how I prepared for the exam and some do-s and don't-s.

If you have decided that you want to pursue MCA after graduation, these are some of the tips I used.

You can incorporate them into your strategy.

1. Start with looking at the syllabus and previous year papers. It helps you be concise and will help you throughout the preparation to study what is essential. Last year question papers will help you to have an idea about the format. 2. You have four sections - Maths, Reasoning, Computer, English. I started with maths along with reasoning. I solved Arihant Complete Study Package 'MCA Entrance.' For the material, I bought the Pendrive course from "IMPETUS GURUKUL." I started watching video lectures and solving questions that the coaching used to provide along with Arihant MCA Entrance Book. 3. Later in January 2020, Sharad Sir, my mentor from "IMPETUS GURUKUL", decided to shift to daily live classes. It not only helped students clear their doubts one to one, but it also allowed students to stay motivated as Sir was putting a lot of effort to keep us motivated during the lockdown. 4. For computers, I studied the material provided by the coaching. For English, you need to keep practice it. 5. Your routine is crucial than you think. Make a realistic schedule for yourself and stick to it. Make a to-do list the night before. It helps you to be clear about what you will study that particular day. 6. Give mock tests as if you are giving your actual NIMCET paper. Always do a deep analysis of the paper, even if you think it takes a lot of time. Keep solving the old actual/mock papers.

Do-s and Don't-s : 1. Limit your screen time. 2. Start doing at least one activity that helps you to recharge. It could be meditation, journaling, anything that makes you feel connected with yourself. 3. 7 hours of sleep and a good diet ( yes, I know you are tired of hearing this, but it helps) 4. There will be days when you will not feel like doing anything, do not feel guilty. Take some time, and then start fresh. You will make it. Believe in yourself.”

NIKITA DAS AIR- 44 NIMCET-2020 SELF-PREPARATION “I am Nikita Das, Secured AIR 44 in NIMCET 2020. I am from Kolkata, West Bengal. It was a small journey. I was in last year of UG(BSc in Mathematics, Jadavpur University, Kol-32) When I came to know about NIMCET. Then I collected some information from internet, what is for NIMCET, syllabus and all. I started my preparation from July 2020. Before July I didn’t do anything

for NIMCET. As I am from math background It was easy for me to handle all math’s questions. So within 3 months I completed my preparation and tried my best for securing a good rank. Preparation: I must say that it was the result of my self study. But after 2 months that is in last of August,20 I came to know some institute’s name ( Impetus, Marula ) from YouTube and I started following them. I was not a student of any coaching center. I followed some live lectures of Impetus, Marula on YouTube and solved many problems. The main thing what I did, I solved all the questions from past 10 previous years, and it helped me to make familiar with question patterns. I used to give at least 1-2 mocks daily. It helped me in time management. And also after every mocks I analyzed all the questions which I could not answer and it helped to rectify my faults. Tips: 1.

Try to solve questions from previous years as much as possible.

2.

Keep a notebook and write all the math’s formulas and revise those daily.

3.

Try to give at least one mock daily .

4.

Practice more math’s questions.

5.

Rectify your mistakes.

Best of luck for all. Nikita Das AIR-44 NIMCET 2020

HARSH KAWADIA AIR-58 NIMCET-2020 “Harsh Kawadia ( AIR – 58 ) NITK, Surathkal Getting an All India Rank 58 in NIMCET 2020 was a great achievement for me. It was special for me because I haven’t ever thought that someday, even I would be able to study in NIT. A great thanks to the seniors who showed me the path towards pursuing MCA from NITs right at the graduation time. I started looking for “How to prepare for NIMCET?”. I looked into the syllabus and took the books related to it and started the preparation myself, with a continuous study of approximately 6-7 hours daily and following the schedule I would fix for myself for nearly 8 months. At a point of time I realized the importance of joining coaching and took the online course and continued my preparation. My preparation was going on well but, I realized that I was just preparing not competing, which I was not supposed to do during the actual paper. So, I decided to join the coaching institute offline and went out of the town for the same. Facing the competition among the students I pushed myself every day and kept on giving my best with a single goal in my mind to get into only the top 3 NITs. With the help of friends and teachers at the institute I was able to clear my concepts in a better way and got aware of the tactics of how to attempt thequestions. Thus, it was neither just the coaching institute, nor only the last few days preparation which resulted in this rank. It was the regular hard work which I did, regular tests I attempted and the consistent preparation which kept me on the way to crack NIMCET. And last but not the least, goal specific mindset helped me to

push myself every day.”

KISHAN DWIVEDI AIR-84 NIMCET-2020 “Hi , I am Kishan Dwivedi .I got AIR 84 in NIMCET 2020. I started my NIMCET

preparation from august 2019.I have taken admission in “Ramanujam Entrance Classes” an Allahabad based coaching, in offline mode. I was an average student in mathematics ,but interest in maths made my journey easy. Due to high packages offered by NIT’s and nature of NIMCET exam ,I decided to prepare for it. Fortunately ,I found Ramanuj Pandey sir as my teacher cum mentor. His approach towards solving a problem was quite different and that made maths as easy as “1 + 1 = 2”. He trained a lot of tricky and short approach to solve any problem in less than 1 min as per requirement of NIMCET exam. Due to friendly and humorous behaviour of Ramanuj Sir, stress and demotivation were miles far away from me during my whole journey. Whole journey was quite planned and well organised . I was confident at each moment of my preparation. During lockdowns ,coaching was shifted from offline mode to online mode. Initially it took some time to adjust in this mode but again due to regular “josh filling” session from sir’s side, things were under control. Finally I have covered basic RD Sharma maths, JEE mains previous years maths questions and some chapters of objective RD Sharma. I have solved whole NIMCET previous year papers 2 times before exam and gone through with questions of other MCA exams. After 2-3 times postponed of exam dates it was difficult to get still motivated. But “josh filling” session of Ramanuj sir always make me full charged. And it was one of the major reason to crack the exam. Finally I would like to thanks Ramanuj Sir for their well guidance and some of our BCA friends by which I came to know about NIMCET. NITANSHU JAIN AIR-20 NIMCET 2020 “VandeMatram,

I NITANSSHU JAIN, secured AIR-20 in NIMCET-2020,AIR13 in BHU, AIR24 in KIIT,selected in BIT Mesra,...., and now currently pursuing MCA from N.I.T Trichy because we all know N.I.T Trichy is the most prestigious institution all over India. I want to thank my Gurudev, whose efforts and guidance made me able to crack one of the toughest exams for M.C.A with good rank. Sir's motivational lectures, test series, and his strict behaviour, plays a major role for us to crack any exam. Cracking any All India Level exam, is not easy. It takes time and effort, you may suffer from many physical and mental health related issues in between, so I want to say one thing, whatever coaching centre is nearest to you, whose rating is good , just join it and focus on your studies. Give 8-10 hrs per day, to learn new tricks and how to solve a problem into less amount of time.If you stuck on some problem and take too much time, leave it for that moment, and when you revisit those unsolved problems again later, you will definitely solve them. Do as many problems as you can per day, and remember focus on concept based learning. Don't learn the solutions, try to understand it. Don't forget to revise the concepts and solve the problems again and again. Whenever you feel to quit, remember some motivation thoughts, why u joined, etc. REVISE REVISE REVISE,NEVER GIVEUP! CHALLENGES IN THIS SITUATION With the global advent of corona virus which has created a huge panic and problem for all of us. Nearly every field of our life has been affected till now. From economy to health care and education each and every field is suffering for some reasons. So, like this the same happens with our preparations too. Form the year 2020 NIMCET is being conducted under online mode only, as this year marks the arrival of global covid pandemic. We were the first batch(2020) who have to suffer from it and our preparations were broadly affected. So, somehow we managed at the end and at last got the success. There is a saying from the english literature i.e., ”where there is a will there is a way”. It almost justifies everything that 2020 batch suffered and won over it. So, the current aspirant need not to worry about whether there will be exams or not , whether they would be able to keep themselves motivated for that long or whether they would get success. These all are secondary things the most primary aim should be focus on your studies and keep yourself safe from this harsh disease. Remember students you are not the first one who are facing this problem, previous year students have gone through it and at last they won the challenge. You have to be consistent though throughout this period of lockdown and everything. Even if you are not able to study for that long then also just try to study for as much as you can. I was suffering from the same problem when I was preparing. Even sometimes I do not open the books for weeks then after that I revised my schedule and at least started giving at least 1 test daily. This in turn helped me in keeping in touch with the course. It may be possible for some unavoidable reasons you were unable to study for few weeks or months then also never loose the hope as you have studied till now it must be in your mind. You just need to brush it up for few weeks. The most basic advice I have for this year aspirants is that give test/mock tests daily or even weekly. This will help you a lot. Eat healthy and have a healthy routine and do yoga. Because the most common thing which is coming forward in these tough times is the mental

health that is being affected and started getting toll. In these times if you are mentally fit and healthy then you are having a boon with you. Almost everyone is suffering from some sort of unhealthiness like anxiety , depression , stress etc. To tackle them you can talk to your friends on phone or if possible can go to his/her place to see him and meet him. You can do breathing exercises , you can go for YOGA, meditation etc. This all will help you in general to overcome this problems. Mental health is something that has to do a lot with your physical health so if you are not healthy mentally then how you can study for long. SO, you all should focus on these things. Likewise , as I have told to be in touch with the studies at lest for half hour you should open your book/copy to watch out for the concepts related to various topic. These will help you to retain everything you have studied. So, all the best aspirants.Hope you will achieve success in this coming exams.
